Great place for a relaxing vacation
We had a wonderful time. The resort was not only beautiful, the food in the restaurant was excellent. I would definitely go back.

Great location, 145 steep steps to climb depending on which suits you choose
1) It is close enough to Ubud center by once daily shuttle service (about 15 mins by car). You can strategically use the shuttle service to drop you at specific points around Ubud center and pick up at a different location (within Ubud center area). Eg we dropped off at Dirty Duck restaurant (gorgeous restaurant among their own padi field, must try!) for their famous crispy duck meal, then pick up at ARMA museum a few hours later. 2) Food menu looks fairly extensive but if you cover enough meals there, you will notice that many dishes are using the same curry sauce, just different ingredients. However, taste and price are satisfactory. Breakfast portion is a little small and selection is a bit limited. 3) Best foliage views are with the Valley Suites and Royal Suites. Valley Suites are down a steep fleet of steps (145 of tall steps). Not for elderly or very young. By the 3rd day, we decided to use room service for our meals. Royal suites are more accessible (less steps) but slightly closer to the traffic at road level, and slightly less privacy as its closer to the pool and common walkways. 4) There are no separate spa rooms, so our necks did get a bit tired and twisted on the day-bed cushions at the balcony that doubled up as massage beds. However, you get to enjoy the natural sounds and breeze around you during massage. Price of massage is satisfactory. 5) We did not experience exceptionally warm hospitality nor bad service. Satisfactory overall. 6) Satisfactory wifi coverage, but speed is slow - so don't expect to stream videos. Other than a small swimming pool, no other facilities on site. However, if u prefer quiet contemplation time just lazing around absorbing the sights and sounds of nature, and use this as a base for occasional travelling out, this would be a perfect place.

Living near nature
Live near greenery. You can hear the roaster in the morning and the insects at night. Very therapeutic.

A MOST STAY IN UBUD- views are subliminal
WOW FOR VIEWS!!!! Talk about location the scenery of the whole resort was breathtaking. it is the perfect place to go if you are wanting to relax. The staff had the room all romanced with flowers in the bath and the bed set out for true romance. The rooms are huge and it gives you so many ways to enjoy the property. when you order treatments such as massage, facials they are done in the comfort of your room. We appreciated this because the surroundings of hotel had all of the natural ambience and sound needed. The birds, river frogs and the breeze blowing through the trees added to relaxation. We stayed in the top valley suite so heads up the walls of the room do not extend to the roof so there is no escaping some bugs and lizards, but surprisingly this was minimal and you sleep in a mosquitos net and rest assure we had no problems. There are a lot of stairs as other reviews have mentioned but the rooms and staff are so accomodating that you don't really need to leave your room. The hotel has a shuttle bus that drives you to the town centre and collects you also at whatever time you want which is really handy. There is a large rice patty field close by walking distance that is really nice. The staff helped us to organise all of our tours and drivers and were very accomodating to a late check out. The food was yum. There is a great mixture of western and Balinese food on the menu, and a great range of alcoholic drinks (which can be limiting at many hotels.) All in all a high recommended place to stay. I would suggest this resort to everyone who is thinking of a stay in Ubud

LOVED IT !!!!
I would stay here again in a heart beat loved it, we stayed in room number 3 down the stairs and it was fantastic the only down fall was the tv didn't get any movie channels so we watched the animal channel for 5 days haha and the breakfast was just a bit to small. The staff are great always willing to Help. The room was like I was in heaven the bathroom and bath it self with wall to floor Windows I felt like I lived in a jungle in a tree house it was beautiful. Thank you for a great stay

Bugs everywhere
This is a great hotel to see rice patties, the views are amazing, the staff is great and the food was delicious. It was just too close to nature for us, the AC was not adequate for the room and natures creatures frequently made there way into the room.

Lush Greenery, Privacy, Spacious
We were upgraded to the Royale Suite which was huge with 270 deg balcony. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at The Kampung. Watch sunrise right from the bed and if you love the sounds of insects, this is it! Guests are free to roam the lush gardens filled with all sorts of local fruit trees. Loved the 2 golden retrievers and their pups! Staff were polite and ensure your privacy. Room service massage was good. It is not in Ubud Central but didn't post any issue as the resort provides 2 way transfers. 300m from the Ceking Padi Fields and that is worth a wander! Highly recommended!

A place of seclusion and retreat
I had the valley suite, Bangle, which is located below the hill of Kampung Resort. Albeit the cheapest in their menu of rooms, it did not fail to impress. The views are equally stunning, the location quiter than the suites and villas uphill, and the space is definitely bigger than ordinary. You can expect to come back at night with your room lit, prepared, amd cleaned. The daily pickup and dropp off servic to Ubud Central is convenient. The pool is always clean and ready for use. The staff attentive and caring. The food is delicious. The experience is amazing. As a bonus, you will see a family of adorable golden retrievers within the resort - Barbie, Max and their offsprings.
