A great place to stay while visiting cape town

Staff friendliness, the location and great value for money
From before I arrived in Cape Town I received excellent service as I emailed the guest house for them to arrange an airport pick up for me which they did, complimentary. When I arrived I was greeted with friendliness and a lot of help from the duty managers, one even went to the shop to buy me some water as I was very tired from travelling. The Whale room was compact, but clean and comfortable and had a great view of Table Mountain. We liked the fact that there was a guest kitchen we could use, including a washing machine! We were given vouchers for our breakfasts at Arnold's restaurant, which were amazing, and we also went there for dinner! All in all it was a very enjoyable stay at The Lions Guest House.

Great guest house owned by super friendly family

Location, breakfast and manegement
We stay there for 9 nights. And it was a pleasant stay. This guest house is centrally located to shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Only 10 minute walk to Long Street. With breakfast, they give you vouchers that you can you in a restaurant/café called Arnold's close to the guest house. Each voucher worth R50 (US$5). If you go over $5, you just pay the difference. And the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. If you come across any problem, just let them know. They fix it straight away.

Average B&B - OK for shortstay

1. Exclusive entrace 2. Front desk people are friendly 3. Breakfast voucher
It was a OK B&B. It was good because it had a separate entrance to our unit. Simple basic. We were disappointed to see that the house keeping did not include washing basic washing of a coffee cup or wine glass. We had to do it ourselves for 2 nights. Bathroom basin was too small. We couldn't figure out where to put our toiletry bag.

A safe haven close to Long Street

Great Breakfast, Good Wi-Fi, Good location.
I stayed for week to watch the Cricket Match involving Australia and South Africa. The Guest House is only 20 minutes walk from the train station and less than 10 minutes from the bars and restaurants on Kloof and Long Streets. I found the area safe to walk around in the evenings. The breakfast down the hill at Arnolds was superb. If I return I might stay in one of the rooms in the floor above as the "Garden view" rooms have a few big steps to negotiate due to it being built on a hill. A bit more attention to cleaning and emptying bins in the room more regularly would bring a further improvement. Good value for money when everything is taken into consideration.

Average not on standard

Average, misleading there where no secure parking, no cleaning facilities.

Excellent experience

This place was a perfect option for us. The security was good, the room (leopard room) was book and the bed was really comfy. They also changed the bedsheets everyday which was nice.
I was a bit hesitant to book us to stay here as the reviews were very general and average. We (girlfriend and I) needed 3 nights accommodation and this place exceeded our expectations! Very reasonably priced and centrally located - plus a stunning view of Table Mountain from our bedroom. We stayed in the Leopard Room. The was a slight glitch/confusion when we 1st arrived as the stand in duty manager wasn't sure which room we were staying in but assured us that we could leave our bags and go out for a couple hours and by the time we returned our room was ready and everything was still there. From that moment on, our experience there was amazing. The room was very big, the on-suite was also very nice and the kitchen was there to use as and when. The only issue with the kitchen was that the other rooms also use it, one of the rooms cooked a massive feast and didn't tidy up but seriously that didn't bother us much. The room had an amazing view of Table Mountain and the back gardens were very well maintained. The house is centrally located and you can reach any of the tourist hotspots with 10-15 minutes. They don't offer food at the actual house but are partnered with a restaurant called Arnold's, which is 10 minutes walk or 1 min drive. People complaining about this really need to think twice about things because seriously its no hardship and the food and service at the restaurant is absolutely amazing plus it is very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in the area. Overall I would fully recommend The Lions Head and anyway looking for a reasonably priced place with good service, cleanliness, privacy & security shouldn't think twice. We will definitely be staying there again.
