The Marine-Hermanus Hotel Hermanus - Food, drink and entertainment The Pavilion Restaurant
Overlooking the cliffs of Hermanus and surrounds, The Pavilion honours the bountiful Overberg region. As with all of the restaurants under the umbrella of The Collection by Liz McGrath, The Pavilion displays a distinctive regional identity. The menus delicate and intricate dishes, paired perfectly with locally produced wines, reflect the Overberg and its distinct flavours and terroir. This glamorous, edgy restaurant boasts beautiful views over Walker Bay, while the striking black-and-white checkerboard floor is resonant of 1920s glamour, linking all the elements of the restaurants interior design. A delicate houndstooth fabric covers the Carver chairs, while a black floral print introduces a softer touch. The Pavilion is open for dinner five nights a week (Tuesday to Saturday), and with the possibility of spotting a whale from your table between June and December, breakfast is a great idea any day of the week.

The Marine-Hermanus Hotel Hermanus - Food, drink and entertainment SeaFood at The Marine
The more playful counterpart to SeaFood at The Plettenberg, SeaFood at The Marine offers diners a contemporary, fresh approach to seafood, all the while incorporating flavours inherent to the Overberg region. Dishes, reflecting the culinary flair for which Peter Tempelhoff and his team are known, reflect the myriad ingredients available in the Overberg. Sustainably caught seafood is presented in surprising ways, and traditional dishes are recreated with sophistication and finesse. The Rich Mans Fish & Chips, served with a tomato salsa and paired with a crisp white wine from the Walker Bay area, is a perfect example of this. With a colour palette redolent of sea breezes and rolling blue waves washing through the restaurant, SeaFood at The Marine is anchored by a bold, deep navy blue back wall. High-gloss tables in the most beautiful, subtle colours, including seafoam grey, a gentle hint of sea blue and seashell lilac, play with the senses and lift the stone-grey colours flowing throughout the space.

Excellent Location

Location - Good staff service
we were received and serviced with the standard of five star. was a lack of attention to detail in respect to only providing service for one person in the room on two occurances. onlt one pair of slippers and and turned the bed down on one side. this was rectified thereafter. the service from the staff was of high standard and must be applauded. we would return to this hotel in future.
Restaurant Tip: The food was excellent and would highly recommend both the restuarants at this Hotel.

An Environmental, Culinary & Relaxing Delight

Its position on the headland with an unfettered view across Walker Bay. Very classy, top level hotel with impeccable service
The hotel is a few minutes walk from the shops, village and shoreline. The villages around Walker Bay and nearby vineyards are within an hour by car. The Marine is tranquil and quiet, allowing a complete break away from it all. The rooms, particularly those with a view on the Bay, are excellent, well furnished with extremely comfortable beds. The two restaurants are top quality and menus are varied and well priced. The range of wines is vast with many from the locality. Pre-dinner drinks can be taken in the lounge bar, looking out across the Bay. The staff, at all levels, are happy to interact with Guests in an interesting way and can give plenty of advice on anything in the region. This was our third stay and we will stay at the Marine on future visits.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: During August to October, southern right whales are found in Walker Bay. It is part of their migratory cycle. They reproduce here. We saw many whales with their young close to the shoreline i.e. 100 to 200 metres away. The best spot is De Kelders, about an hour by car around the Bay.
