A poor hotel much in need of refurbishment

The room was just about acceptable
I would call this a motel. When we arrived we wanted a drink but other than room facilities there was nothing available. When we asked to see the evening menu there was none and the receptionist wasn't interested in printing another out for us. When we finally saw the menu we realised that the food was cook chill so we ate out. The so called continental breakfast was nothing of the sort. Do it yourself toast, cereal and simply awful machine coffee and tea. One of the girls clearing the tables had a very dirty skirt on, laddered tights and creased blouse. It's clear that what little management doesn't care about standards but prefers cheap. On top of that we were woken at 00:30 by the fire alarm going off accidentally. The bar finally opened at mid-day on Saturday but no food was available until 17:30 I wouldn't stay at this place again

Nice clean room, friendly staff-great stay
we enjoyed our stay, the staff were great and the room was comfortable. we were aprehensive after the poor reviews we'd read after we'd booked-glad we still went. try it for yourself!! great value for money.

Great location and lovely rooms

Near Alton Towers, Good Location, Nice Rooms, Friendly Staff
me and my partner really enjoyed our stay at the miraj hotel, we arrived late on a thursday night and we was immediately greeted warmly upon arrival, we was given our room key and went to our room. our room was basic, but as that is all we wanted it was perfect, the bathroom was great with a powerful shower. we had continental breakfast in the morning which was good, a wide range of cereal's fruit, yoghurt's and meats. we had our tea in the black sheep restaurant which is downstairs in the hotel, we had fish and chips which was good. unfortunately we didn't get chance to go to the swimming pool or the spa so i can't say what that was like. overall we had a pleasant stay and didn't want to go home!

Very nice hotel - staff excellent.

Leisure facilities, staff, breakfast
Reasonably modern hotel in good condition. Very friendly staff made our stay enjoyable - they were always helpful and courteous. Room was a nice size, clean and maintained daily. Food was of a good standard.Hotel has good leisure facilities - swimming pool, saun, steam room, gymnasium - guests pay per day for using leisure facilities which is very reasonable.

lovely hotel, great service but rooms outdated!

nice refurbished hotel, bed comfy, tea and coffee facilities, great location, quiet,
the hotel and staff were great! very clean and well presented! price of breakfast quite expensive but food was nice! restaurant on the night - the black sheep - not really a restaurant - more a few tables by the bar and menu not that great! this however wasn't a problem for us as we ate in some of the local pubs nearby! rooms were clean but basic and a bit outdated! power shower in bathroom was very good! great location not far from ashbourne village and also not far from derby, belper etc! overall, a decent place to stay for a few days!

Good location for entrance to the peak district

good leisure facilities, large free carpark
On checking in at first the manager could not find our booking, we only booked the night before on line but after a short hunt it was found, we found the room we had been allocated to be of a good size but tired. but for the price paid could not complain. the leisure facilities were fine, pool, steam and sauna which was great after a hard days walking, but we were not told by the staff that the pool had childrens swimming lessons from 4pm to 6pm. we did not eat in the hotel but did have a drink in the bar which was fine.
