great service & location / needs refurbishment

Location / Service / Concept

If you are looking for a Phuket holiday away from the seediness + hustle&bustle, then this hotel has the perfect location and unique concept to go with it. Recommended that you rent a car though if you don't want to be too isolated as taxi's are not easy to get and will probably overcharge you. The setting and scenery is beautiful and the sunset is amazing from the Sky Lounge. The one and only downside -and this is a major one in my opinion when spending this sort of budget- is that the hotel feels 'worn' ; from the worn access doors to the villas (making it near impossible to open without resorting to brute force), the patched-up concrete steps throughout the complex over to minor malfunctions in the room (shower-drain tilted in the wrong angle so water can't drain resulting in an always-wet shower floor / soundbar randomly shutting off / ...) over to the overall finishing throughout the hotel (private pool tiling done very poorly / rusty and worn pool loungers in our villa) The impeccable service compensates a great deal but I would argue that the hotel is either over-priced or needs a serious touch-up/refurbishment.

So Much Potential, failed to deliver

The hotel property, private beach, location
6.3
My stay at Naka was terribly disappointing. Upon arrival, the view of the resort was stunning and beautiful. The check-in staff was very good. Once we left the front desk, the service and staff from then on disappointing. They were not rude or unfriendly, I strongly feel training is severely lacking and poor management across all areas. Eg. I stayed 5 nights. It was wife, toddler son and me. From the first day, we informed the person that brought us to our villa that we need towels & amenities for 3. Everyday I had to call and ask for extra towels. I called numerous times to ask that housekeeping makes a note. This never changed until the last evening, they finally remembered. Eg. F&B very poor. Apart from breakfast everything else so bad. Room service especially bad. Food quality very poor. Eg. Finish room service, call for collection and clearing of plates placed outside. Next morning not cleared, flies, ants, insects all over. The villas are old and badly maintained. Wooden flooring inside and outside deteriorating. Termites, broken up, etc. The sofa is badly stained. The cable TV is pathetic. Poor lighting.

Merging Thai hospitality and Thai modern design.

Secluded private location, chic design, food and dining
9.7
This hotel was amazing. Just beautiful architecture and multi leveled layout onto a private cove. Breathtaking view of the ocean upon check in, great reception and staff very smily and friendly. Excellent food. All were very good and clean tasting. Great breakfast..! The rooms are very dark and moody in the evening but it all blends witb the design hotel theme. Very chic and relaxed at same time.

Excellent resort

Caring staff, incredible view from villa 461, and the villa is huge

It was our second time stayed at Naka. We love the design of the whole resort. We stayed at 461, one of the highest ones adjacent to the gym and sky lounge. The villa was huge with an infinite pool about 12m x 3m. The food had been improved and the massage was nice with fair price.

Slightly overrated hotel.

The stay at the Naka was overall pleasant, although it does NOT warrant the prices that they are charging. It is still definitely a 5 star hotel, but probably would be similar to other luxury hotels charging two thirds of the price that they are charging.

The room smelled awful of sewage from bathroom floor traps n sink traps. Loved the location n the design. But it was already looking tired. Service can be improved.

Naka Review

Location, Style and Room Size

1 - I felt the price versus value is overrated. The Complimentary breakfast menu should be more comprehensive, i found it lacked in quantity and it was far too much far eastern cuisine and too little western menu items. 2 - You transport system was a disaster. I stayed 5 days and i think the transport was on time only for 2-3 occasions. I had to recall the "0" number to check up on them which in turn made me late for several engagements i had organised. Very embarrassing when i have people waiting and the buggies take up to 30minutes to collect me to take me to reception. 3 - I had a broken hairdryer which took 3days to replace. That was because I took it to reception myself on the 3rd day after getting sick and tired of waiting for someone to replace it. I called several times and was told someone would come up to replace it and in the end I had to do it myself. 4 - In my line of work I stay in a lot of hotels around the world and the only reason I would recommend your hotel is for the above, however there is a lot of shortfall for you to consider yourself 5 star.
