Grand Old Hotel
Much of the hotel looks like it is from a James Bond film in the 1970s or 1980s. In a good way! Big, solid, with huge windows and vista type views of the mountains. The view of Fuji is fantastic. The staff is gentle, helpful and kind. The grounds are beautiful. The linens are incredibly comfortable. The TV is brand new with narrow bezel. Hakone-en is a sort of resort village right next to the hotel. The cable car, aquarium, museum, swan boats and some shops and restaurants are also located there. Lots of places to walk and tons of fresh mountain lake air. You will likely find the restaurant dining to be a tad expensive. The minibar is actually very reasonably priced. The wifi is fast enough and well accessible. Spa is great! The free hotel shuttle to Odawara was greatly appreciated (and saves about JPY8,000 on a taxi) and very comfortable. My only downside was that the hotel doesn't stock plug adapters for standard north American 3 prong (including ground) to 2 prong Japan outlet (or 3 prong Singapore to 2 prong Japan, for that matter). The Kaede spa actually has US-style 3 prong wall outlets, although I didn't think it reasonable to ask if I could charge my laptop in the spa. Also if you are a picky traveller, you might say that the shower/bathroom could be updated but really, not a big deal. All in all a fantastic old-school hotel with great style and peacefulness. I will come back to Prince Hakone!!

difficult to find food, but nice view
The view very nice. But difficult to find food. I check in around 4pm. And they told me the Japanese and French rest already fulled. What i expect is going to Japan to eat Japaness food. They should add capacity of the rest, since they know everyone will eat there cause no other rest.

Beautiful Property
The hotel grounds and strong wifi
Our stay was very good and peaceful. But it was very hard to get around past 4pm. Taxi from Moro Hakone was only Y1380 but it was hard to get past 4pm. A good samaritan saw was waving to a taxi and thankfully helped us by calling a cab on his mobile. This place would be perfect if you had a car. Other than this the onsen is perfect, privacy is there and the Hakone experience is trully provided.

great location to enjoy Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji
1) view from the room, 2) very pleasant staffs, 3) open-air hot spring bathroom
Mt. Fuji view and tranquility - simply a bliss. Staffs are very pleasant, not doing too much or too little.

An amazing retreat from Tokyo
The location is stunning and feels secluded from the other lake resorts. The hot springs are therapeutic and the staff is very pleasant.
Our stay was restful and we felt very taken care of. The food is over priced but very high standards.

Fantastic stay
1. good location
location is very good, the bus stop is infront of the hotel, near to the ropeway , jetty to lake Ashi. walking distance to bus termial where you can take an express bus back to Shinjuku etc. Meal is expansive. it is an forgetable stay as the view is so beautiful if the room is facing the lake and mt Fuji .
