Needs improvement

Location, building and staff
Hotel was OK but I left somewhat underwhelmed. Not sure why it has such high ratings..

One of the best hotel experiences I have had :)

The staff were more than helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and a great choice of food.
The Rim hotel was one of my best stays in a hotel. I can not find anything that faults my stay at all. I highly recommended anyone travelling to Chiang Mai to consider The Rim Hotel :)

Great Hotel, Great Staff

Location (in Old Chiang Mai), wonderful staff, beautiful rooms and property
I loved this place. It's in Old Chiang Mai, within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants, but far enough away from the Night Bazaar to avoid the tourist crowds. It's well known, so you shouldn't have much difficulty getting lifts to or from the hotel. Rooms are beautiful and clean, bed was solid and comfortable, and the grounds are gorgeous. The entire hotel has a wonderful theme and texture to it that makes one deel that they're staying in a different era without sacrificing a bit of modern luxury. The staff are friendly and very helpful at every turn. Breakfast was excellent and extensive. Negative notes (that were not a big deal to me in light of the above): shower pressure was not impressive (probably because of a flow restrictor in the head) and there was a small amount of mold on the walls (difficult to avoid in a permanently humid environment). Travelers that like having all attractions immediately on their doorstep may have slight issue with the distance to the other side of the wall. I very much recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

Best for local charm with modern comforts

location, decor, helpful staff
We were two couples and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is lovely - you get all the creature comforts (air conditioning, good bed, spacious room, complimentary bottled water, nice pool) plus you actually feel like you are in Chiang Mai because the decor has true local flavor. A breakfast buffet is included, which is a great way to start the day - eggs to order, museli, fresh fruit, juices, toast/croissants, pancakes/waffles, yogurt and more. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Chiang Mai!

Nothern Thai (Lanna) Style Hotel.

Decoration, downtown, cleanliness.
This hotel is located close to canal and old town. Pros. - distinguished decoration with big logs, you will see at reception counter. The hotel look like a temple. - close to canal and road, located on old town city. - bicycle for free. - room very comfort and so clean, the bed is good. - clean pool. - cheap food and beverage. - quiet and private. - coffee and tea are many choices in breakfast. Cons. - stay at premiere room, it's so small. - price is quite high. - air condition is lound. - breakfast is not much choices. In my opinion, this hotel suit to foreigner not Thai because of decoration and style.
