Nice hotel - very traditional and once you get around the rabbit hutch design then the stay is enjoyable. Staff were outstanding I will stay again

Room Service was appalling
Staff, location and how quiet the room was that we were in.
My friends and I got a great deal through Agoda for two suites at The Scotsman for one night. Are plan was to have a a relaxing trip away which consisted of a nice lunch out in Edinburgh, afternoon using the spa facilities and then room service at night. The room was lovely but tired and needed some TLC eg carpets worn. At night time we decided to just chill out in our room and order room service. The room service was absolutely appalling for a 5 star hotel. We ordered sandwiches and it was clear that the bread had been lying out all day as it was hard and certainly not fresh, the fillings of the sandwiches were shocking eg fat on the ham sandwiches, more chutney than cheese, a pile of endive as our salad and nothing else like tomatoes, dressing etc, our chips were cold and one of us had a burger which was cold and generally not nice. Room service should still be of high standards at a 5 star hotel but to be honest my 10 year old niece could make a better sandwich. Overall will we return or recommend The Scotsman to friends and family..........definitely not.

short visit in Edinburgh
location, reception, bar,
Excellent location, very nice and helpful people at the reception desk (all from Hungary). However, one of the windows in our room could not be closed completely. This window had been defect for a long time and nobody started the repair. Quite obviously, the investments to keep the hotel running at high level are minimal.

The Scotsman Hotel
What a dump. This place was great in 2003 when it opened. Now it's been run into the ground by its new owner, a sheik. Paper napkins in the restaurant. Breakfast was literally not edible. My highschool cafeteria had a better setup. The pool looks like you could catch VD.
