I love Kyoto. Screen bit impersonal. Bad internet.

Novelty of design.
Ok. But no windows in room, bad internet and cold lounge. Very nice staff.

Very elegant design hotel in a wonderful area.

The Screen is a design hotel in a very nice neighbourhood of Kyoto. Friendly and helpful staff. Rental bikes available.
We had a very pleasant stay in this stylish hotel. It is situated in a quiet area of Kyoto with antique shops, original Japanese tea shops and nice restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has rental bikes at a reasonable price, and Kyoto is an ideal city to explore by bike. The restaurant serves Japanese food of high quality. The hotel is not cheap, but it is definitely good value for your money!

staff, staff and staff
The fundamental functions of my room are failed, like; - positions of bath room & toilet - having nice coffee machine but lacking of basic coffee table - basic circulation from the bed to room's facilities - etc. As "Boutique" or "Design" hotel, it tries too hard to be interesting but lacking of "Basic" beauty.

Great hotel with modern design.

design, location, friendly staff.
We had a wonderful stay. Loved our room and its design. Staff were very helpful and helped secure a reservation at a top restaurant. Only recommendation to hotel would be that there is no need to replace all amenities each day (ie. no need to throw away soap and shampoo bottles used once!--it is a bit wasteful).

Stylish hotel, comfortable room, great service

Spacious room and bathroom, themed room decor, excellent staff
My stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. We were given the Cherry Blossom-themed room. Although the design wasn't very special as compared to other rooms, it was very stylish, spacious, clean, and nicely presented. The bed was big and comfortable. We are able to see the street view (including the shrine across the street) from the large windows. The bathroom was very spacious with jacuzzi, amenities were of 5-star standard as well. We were greeted by very attentive staff with fluent English, and were offered a welcoming drink and snacks. I would like to try other themed rooms from the Screen Hotel during my next trip to Kyoto!

A very comfortable well-located boutique hotel.

The location on a lovely street near the Imperial Palace, the super comfortable bed, and the attentive service.
This is a very stylish and clean hotel with very attentive staff. The location is on the north eastern edge of central Kyoto near the Imperial Palace and a ten minute walk from the nearest station. For us this wasn't a problem as we like walking the street the hotel is on is full of lovely cafes, restaurants, antique shops and record shops, so a lovely amble if the weather is good. The room was very comfortable and basically modern and minimalist, certainly stylish, although rather dark with only a small window. The jacuzzi bath was lovely. The staff were super attentive and friendly with excellent English skills. We were also upgraded to a suite, so we had more space. We didn't try the restaurant or bar although they looked good - we preferred to go out to local restaurants and cafes which are super plentiful and excellent.

Great restaurant, good location

Bron Ronnery restaurant, location is convenient to a number of attractions, staff was courteous and helpful
Stay was pleasant. Room was nice, although for a hotel that markets itself as a boutique design hotel, there was nothing interesting about our particular room design -- very very basic. Bathroom had some design flaws, as it was very difficult to avoid flooding when using the shower. They tried to remedy this with some raised tiles beside the sink and shower -- this helped somewhat. The Bron Ronnery restaurant was fantastic!!!!! Really amazing food!!!! The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
