It was a great weekend getaway with nice weather. The hotel staff is very friendly and caring. Breakfast is overpriced but Dinner was superb! Love the hotel environment, vintage and cosy. the room is spacious but the facilities are old and smelled. Quite a few of mosquitoes, pls bring mozzie repellent if you're visiting. And please avoid weekend and public and the traffic is terrible.

We wanted to like it and we did BUT......

History Atmosphere Friendly Staff

The hotel is a funny mixture. We loved the history and atmosphere. The barman was charming and the kitchen was obviously very efficient and was quick. The food was rather mixed. Some excellent (the Roast Beef) some bad like the Salmon. Breakfast was tediously slow. For goodness sake change over to a buffet breakfast. Our room was cosy but needed better maintainance - All the grouting in the bathroom was black and looked very dirty. The bed was hard and the pillows cheap. Furniture in the conservatory/breakfast room was a mish mash of old tatty chairs. DO GO THERE as you will like it but don't expect too much. It's not 4 star - more like an old English pub with rooms and tired ones at that.

1 night stay is not enough for such a homely place

Enviroment, ambience and services
9.7
We only stayed one night out of our 3nights at cameron highlands. We was warmly welcome down from out cab to the homely warm check in area, lobby & waiting area. Upon arrival, they are well prepared to even receive you. Check in was quick and friendly by the staff. They send me and guided me up all the way to my room. It was a v friendly gesture. Rooms, we are amaze by hos homely our room for the night will be. Theres living room, bedroom and huge toilets. All of it are connected. It v vintage and pretty. alil oldness in the rooms makes the room w more homely feel. Went to the bar to grab alil bit of drinks. Wine by the fire in the cold is one the best moements in life. Nothing beats this feeling ever. Services, my room's tv channel went misses due to reception. I informed them and attend to this matter quickly. It was fixed quickly aft i had a drink at fhe bar. All off the staff are v friendly. I req for a cab service and they quickly attended to it. The cab came in less than 8 mins time. Its definitely worth the price for such a warm and pretty stay in cameron. Although location is really alil out of the way and ulu but its fine. Its worth the hassle to discover this peaceful beauty in cameron. 1 night is really not enough for us. My cousin love it too! Oh ya! Breakfast is ma ma mia!

Great character-filled place to stay

beautiful cool climate garden, ambience, food

We stayed at the Smokehouse Hotel in Cameron Highlands to celebrate New Year. It was a wonderful place to stay for such an occasion. The garden was beautiful and cool - wonderful to sit in and enjoy, while the inside is an anachronistic old style hotel, beautifully created in effect. The bar even features a real open fire, and leather armchairs to sit around while having a pre or post dinner drink! Opposite there is a golf course, and pleasant walks are all available. Our only real reservations were being placed in a room very close to the main road, so traffic noise was an issue, and the bed was too hard for comfort.

Gorgeous room

We were in the Queens sweet and amazed by the size of it - it was really great. Being English, it also really felt like being in an old English inn. This means the furniture and style is a bit older, and it's rather drafty so can get chilly at night. But, living in Asia, this was a great change of scene. Staff were very friendly, food was fine if not pricey, and the location is ok - it's a 20-40 min walk between the two main towns. The towns themselves aren't particularly interesting though so it's ok being away from them, and it's very easy to get a taxi. Overal, we enjoyed our two nights. Just enough time. Do bring some warm clothes for the chilly evenings.
