Cheap and cheerful.

Staff were helpful, breakfast was adequote and rooms were clean.
We arrived at the hotel at 10am and the staff allowed us to check in early. There were no room safes and one has to use a safety deposit box in reception, free of charge. The room was clean but small for the 2 of us. Air con was faulty with either a maximum or off facility. The plug in the bath did not operate so it was showers only. Only very small issues and nothing to actually spoil our stay. It was good value for money based in North Point and only a small walk to the MTR subway and bus stops. Too many loud Chinese for my liking, but hey, this is China. More imagination in the buffet breakfast would be nice as it is the same thing every day and all the food is cold unless you are lucky enough to get your food as soon as it has been placed in the servery. There is an over priced Chinese restaurant on the first floor and an even more overpriced Japanese restaurant on the second floor which also doubles as the breakfast area. There are plenty of wet and dry food markets close by and a couple of small supermarkets. Plenty of cheap noodle houses serving cheap food around $HK38. 7/11's thrive here as there are 3 in walking distance to the hotel. If you are not looking for a 5 star hotel for a three start hotel, this is the place for a really cheap base to operate your holiday. The bus from the Airport, the A11, stops outside the hotel and costs just $HK40. Cheaper than the $HK310 needed for a taxi. This is a great 2 star hotel but a poor 3 star hotel and YES, I would go back again if I needed to be back in that area. In the room by the way, was a hair dryer and a kettle, however, there are no cups and no free drinks like tea or coffee available. 7/11 right across the road is very handy.

Amazing Experience

Location, Value for Money, Courteous Staff
It was an amazing experience. The reception staff were very helpful, especially the Senior Staff ( I forgot his name ). He upgraded us to a higher room. The front office staff DID take care to provide us all the information about Hong Kong. The House keeping was very good. The only draw back was the breakfast as there were limited things and if you stay for 7 days you tend to skip it. The staff handling the breakfast tough were very nice and efficient. But then Breakfast IS included so you can't complain much. When we were about to leave a female reception staff went outside the hotel and arranged a Taxi for us and told the driver where we have to be dropped. All in all a very great experience. Will certainly stay in South China Hotel next time we are in Hong-Kong...

It's all worth it

Comfort, Food, Cleanliness
Although a bit far from the city center,it is still recommended due to its few steps from MTR North Point Station. The buffet breakfast is so delicious and fantastic! Hotel room is very comfy. They just need to improve the lift as we always waited couple of minutes before we can get it. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

Good hotel

The complimentary breakfast was good. Checking in was easy as 1-2-3. Location is just a 5 minute walk from the MTR.
It was okay. The only problem we had was that even if we didn't want our room made up, they still did so. And some of the staff don't speak English, with it being a hotel, staffs should be able to at least speak a little bit of English.

Do not take superior room!

Location, breakfast, staff
The room that we booked (superior) was horrible!!! It was very very old, ugly and the worst thing was humidity in the room, the walls was practically dripping with water! We couldn't stay in that kind of room with child. The hotel kindly offered us a another room (lux) that was much better and livable, thank you.
