The View (to the N2)

Large room, nice bathroom, interesting location
- The view is, as the name implies, very nice - Hotel is in an odd location, up on the hill through some narrow roads and in a residential neighbourhoood. There is nothing else around and you will need a car. - You will have to drive to the beaches, not practical/safe to walk - Local mall with supermarket, coffee bar, pharmacy etc. about 10 mins drive away - Impractical but impressive looking faux-old-style furniture. My room had a four-poster bed, a small dining table, desk and two lazy-boy style chairs. Large flat screen TV with DSTV but not many channels to watch. - Huge four-poster bed but cheap-feeling, hard mattress - Noisy location, up on the hill overlooking the sea - but also the busy N2 freeway. If traffic noise bothers you, look elsewhere. Traffic was particularly bad in the mornings and evenings. - Two small pools looked good but are not heated in winter - Good sun loungers by the pool - Self-catering facilities in the room with a gas cooker, fridge and utensils (but what 5-star hotel has this in their rooms?) - Noisy surroundings - barking dogs, noise from the N2, loud staff. - Room service but only during restaurant hours. Menu limited, only simple italian dishes such as lasagna and pizza. Room service food good. - Breakfast served in restaurant but not nice to have loud blaring musing early in the morning. No buffet, no freshly squeezed fruit juice, decent coffee, OK selection from menu. Food good overall. - Only instant coffee and a kettle in room but they do provide milk for tea/coffee - My room was absolutely freezing since I was visiting in winter. Overall, would not recommend visiting this place in the winter, it's clearly a summer place. - Bathroom was nice and quite large, decent sized jacuzzi, walk-in shower - There is no lift but staff will very happily help you with your luggage. Hotel not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. - Parking is good but you may struggle if you have a very big car

The staff and facilities otherwise was magnificent. Food served is first class. The staff really do there best effort to please the guest.
1) The shower door could not close properly, water from the shower flooded the bathroom. We had to use the towels to mop up the bathroom floor. 2) The mattress was to small for the bed base. You have to navigate your way over the railings getting on and off. 3) The bed! So cranky. You can not move without it creaking and cracking. Not good for a romantic evening. We ended up moving all the furniture aside and dropping the mattress on the floor. 4) The bathtub dos not hold water. You have to continually top it up. 5) There is no dead bolt on the sliding door. We were soaking in the tub while a staff member enters the room. “Surprise visit”, to deliver two complementary cupcakes. Hello CUPCAKE!!!

Overall a good stay

Good standard accommodation, relaxing spa & pool area, breakfast (not the service!)
Overall a good stay in a comfortable, clean hotel. The restaurant employs "trainees" to serve and we had a few 'mishaps' with wrong orders, spilt flower vase over the table, coffee spilt on the saucer and no offer to change. Wine serve red in the wrong glasses. The problem is the staff are left to serve without experience and not supervised. The will never learn like this. They need supervision and guidance. Not the service I would expect from a five star hotel! The food was good but spoilt by the service. The reception staff argued with us over a hotel taxi shuttle service charge. We were told it was free and subsequently charged. Good will by them was not forthcoming!
