Very disappointing
The hotel is situated amongst a sprawling mass of various buildings down a backstreet and would be extremely difficult to find without GPS. Upon arrival we had to search for a member of staff, who seemed totally disinterested and future observations confirmed that he was more interested in playing with his mobile 'phone on the occasions that he did actually sit at the Reception. The hotel is looking old and tatty and is in desperate need of a re-vamp. No shower gel was provided in the room - just shampoo and conditioner - and when we asked for some they could only supply a small bar of soap. The mattress on the bed was rock-hard and the T.V. showed Thai channels only. A safe in the room was advertised, but there wasn't one. Breakfast was adequate, although the six choices on the menu were basically the same! The restaurant resembled a transport cafe more than a hotel and the view would have been better had the tide been in, as the mud 'beach' stretched as far as the eye could see. The 'bar' was a cool drinks fridge in the corner and to actually get a drink we had to find a member of staff to unlock it. Check-out was time consuming due to the staff checking that the mini bar - 3 drinks and a few snacks- had not been used.

rip off
the room the view
there is only one thing nice about our stay at the laemhin was the villa on the lagoon bed a bit hard but clean and the other good thing was a fab seafood restaurant a small walk up the road, that is all you have there is nothing else for miles so the fist rip off is the hotel saying they will phone you a taxi do not let them as they will charge you 500 bhts to town and 500 back and the taxi man only gets 300 the hotel takes the other 2 there is a taxi rank up the road walk up there they cost less but you bargain with them, next rip off is do not ask hotel to do laundry they charged 580bhts for a little over 1kilo every were else in thailand cost only about 30 to 80bhts its out rages, some staff are friendly the rest dont understand you ,and the restaurant is like a stop over for truckers the breakfast ,if you like fried or scrambled eggs and toast you be fine because buff breakfast is only if they have lots of guests so we only had 1 buffy breck. if they get your order right you be lucky and as for that lit up boat you see on photos its awreck along with the other 2 wrecks there if you are looking to sit on your balcoy all day you be fine valerie

You get what you pay for
Hotel area; pool; close to a good seafood Restaurant
The first hotel in Thailand we had actually been able to find w/o NAVI as the direction was clearly given & signs marked the road. The room was in South East Asia quality, while they made a good & comfortable impression. The pool was clean & within a nice surrounding. The lagoon itself, however, was a ship grave yard; interesting for people who like this. Overall, we got what we had been paying for & can’t complain.

Wouldn't pay full price
The restaurant, quiet, staff
We booked a room last minute with an Agoda discount, it was fine for what we paid but I would've been upset if I paid full price. The quality was quite low but the staff excellent and it's far away from everything.

What you'd expect for the price
Nice staff
We came to Phuket for non-holiday-related reasons and needed to stay for just one night before leaving and going back to Bangkok. Therefore, we were literally just looking for a place to sleep that was not too expensive but suitable for our 3-year-old. The staff were nice and helpful and the restaurant served food of a good standard; they were even willing to make Thai/seafood-based dishes not listed on the menu (as long as they had the ingredients) which was nice. However, the stay was spoiled by the number of mosquitoes in the room. The resort seems to have a series of canals/waterways dug through it. I'm not sure if they were saltwater or not but those mosquitoes were definitely coming from somewhere. Usually, once you close the doors, switch on the aircon and kill all the mosquitoes that are in the room, you can have a good night's sleep. However, this was not the case. They just kept coming and coming, presumably from outside (though we're not sure how) and our 3-year-old son was bitten more than 10 times. We left in a hurry at 5am without having breakfast and without having had any sleep. For the price, we weren't expecting luxury and would have forgiven the hard bright white lighting, unimaginative decoration and aging equipment if it hadn't been for the mosquito problem. The staff were very helpful and tried their best to make our stay comfortable, though.
