Nice but a little remote

Beautiful Beach, privacy, nice staff
Despite being a beautiful resort I found it a little too remote if u wanted to go into main tourist area, so we ended up spending a foutune on water taxis. My main problem was that u had no electricity in room until 6pm, and as there was only one socket it was a bit of a nightmare to charge the 2 phones, camera, and electronic cigarette in the time we had power, especially if you want to go out for the evening. And on our last night we came back to find a snake in our room, which after a bit of language barrier confusion a member of staff came to collect.

Romantic getaway island but basic

Location, beach hut location over sea, friendly dog and man that showed us to our rooms
The location of the Tohko Beach Resort was ideal, secluded and romantic, and the beach hut looked 'cute' and cosy, sitting beautifully on the beach looking out on to the sea, perfect for 2 days as part of our honeymoon. The bambo hut itself was nice enough with an ensuit, basic stone bathroom and a large double bed covered by a mosquito net. Electricity runs between 6pm and 6am which adds to the secluded and desert island feeling. However, our fan in our room did not work well and would only stick at spin 1 and the stand was broken. Therefore the room was roasting hot all night contributing to a very uncomfortable sleep. The worst thing about our stay was that I awoke covered in red bumps (my husband had several too). They were all over my legs, my arms and shoulders and were incredibly itchy and unsightly. Thinking or should I say hoping that they were just a heat rash, I presumed they would go down throughout the day, but they did not. I eventually put it down to something from the bedding and told the reception that we were leaving due to the extreme discomfort I was in caused by this. She wasn't very helpful and claimed they were mosquito bites, which I disagreed to as I had been a victim of several mosquito bites throughout our trip. All and all, it did meet our idea of a romantic, secluded desert island getaway but basic things such as thouroughly cleaning sheets and working fans engulf make the resort more comfortable especially for the money we paid.

Beautiful location right on the beach, the sea is clean and blue, quite a lot of beautiful fish almost right up your steps to the bungalow.
Very beautiful place, the sea is a bit rocky when the tides go out but when when the tides come in (twice a day) then it's paradise, the sea water is clean and clear, you can start snorkeling and see beautiful/colorful fish right at the steps leading up to your bungalow, that's awesome! Food was okay, staff were nice and helpful. Bungalow was nice and clean enough but when it rained really hard the roof leaked onto a bed. Getting there was a bit of a problem, we didn't know that you have to take a boat from the pier to this beach and we didn't know that the resort provides boat rides for 100 baht, so we took a boat taxi and that was expensive, next time we know better.

Wonderful location, ultimate relaxation

This hotel is ideally located on the east coast of don phi phi. I stayed in a bamboo hut overlooking the sea. Resting in a hammock on the hut balcony I found it most wonderful and serene
Bare essentials make this the perfect way to unwind and relax, away from the hustle and bustle. You can spend the evening laying in your hammock and listening to the sound of the sea gently lapping away below you. Cheap beer, equally cheap food that is damn tasty make this a spot on getaway. The resort also offers regular boat taxi to phi phi peer if you need it. I will definitely visit again!

you pay for the view...

Chilling on the balcony, the sound of the sea, 'glamping' experience
Overall a good experience. The odd creepy crawly takes a bit of getting used to. The towels provided were of bad standard, had holes in and were stained. Furthermore, the constant long boats disrupted our snorkelling with visibility very poor (monsoon season combined). This said, we understood we were paying for the view and the experience, with what is basically a private beach. We stayed for one night and this was enough for us.

good hotel but some staff tried to take advantage

Located in the far side of phi phi island, very calm and quiet. It is an increadible experience to sleep in the beachfront bungalous. In the low season you have all the resort for yourself
OUr experience inside the hotel was great, the room was clean and simple, but very confortable. the hotel is in front of the beach so you can have breakfast at their restaurant with your feet on the sand! the staff was very friendly at first, but we had problems in the last day of our stay (READ BELOW) The problem is that to get there you will need to go by boat, and this let to many problems. On the day that we arrived on the island as the hotel had not provided a boat to pick us up at the pier, we were forced to hire a taxi boat that charged an extremely overpriced fare 600Baht (at that time we didnt knew what was a fair fare). a good advice is too avoid picking up a boat taxi close to the pier as all the drivers try very hard to rip you off. The other problem was that after leaving the hotel using their own taxi-boat (which charge a reasonable 100Bath per person) I forgot some clothes in the room and hat to go back. I talked with the driver and he agreed as long as I payed for the extra trip. We went back, I picked my clothes and headed back to the pier, everything seemed normal BUT, as we were almost at the pier, the driver told me that if I didnt pay 500Baht more to him he wouldnt let me get off the boat!! he was trying to take advantage of me, because he knew that I had to catch the ship back to Phuket within the next hour. I tried to reason with him but ended up paying 200Baht (on top of the 100Bath per trip previously agreed). Overall the hotel is great, but the staff made us leave felling mistreated and explored.

Very rustic, nice beach but noisy

Beach, tropical, nature
The place has a very nice beach and the location is remote but there were load motor boats going by every couple minutes all day long. It was meant to be a peaceful getaway but ended up not so peaceful. Rooms are very basic and more similar to camping, so if you like natural this is the place.
