Pleasant stay with few glitches

Location, Location & Value for money
While the location was excellent, during the evenings till around midnight the noise level from the Muay Thai Boxing next door is very loud. We stayed in the new section of the hotel and rooms were clean and well presented. We had the family suite. It had good size rooms, minimal storage. We could not use the safe as it was broken. We requested it to be fixed but fell on deaf ears. We had an issue with TV reception which I was able to work out was a doggy coax cable. It was fixed within minutes of us requesting a new cable. Cant talk to much about the buffet breakfast as we only tried on the first day and never went back. But we did manage to find some great little cafe's in the lanes that offer some excellent coffees and western or Thai breakfast. Would I stay again....Yes

This is the third time I have stayed at the Top North Hotel and each time has NOT disappointed... Stayed in the deluxe room this time and found it very good quality and comfortable... Staff where helpful and cheerful... Stayed for 6 nights and on each morning our room was serviced while we were away having breakfast... great service...!! They picked us up, and took us back, to the airport.. Overall a great experience and stay...

disgusting room

parking , upgrading room, parking
first room i checked into was disgusting ....and look around 30years old ...i have stayed in better rooms and paid only half the price before ....5 staff members all sat on there asses behind the desk and a luggage boy who was more interested in playing with his phone . you would think with the dwindling number of tourist now in CM they would improve their rooms and service.

shop around

the location, the location and the location
Our stay was ok. The staff was mostly pleasant and the rooms were clean, even though they were old and somewhat moldy and needing repair. The pool was WAY TOO SALTY and although nice in appearance, made my son very itchy. Also, do not go to this place if you need to use Wi-fi. During our stay, i had to go out to a restaurant to use Wi-fi. The worst thing was the management, who tried to take advantage of our booking mistake. Somehow, I made a reservation for two rooms rather than one. When i explained this to the staff, they asked me to cancel my booking and that they would not charge the cancellation fee. Fair enough. Then they asked me to pay cash for the new (more expensive) room up front before even using it. OK, I thought. The room was more expensive because even though they advertize that they can put in another bed for a small charge, they refused and would only upgrade us to a more expensive room for three people (we have a four year old) Now the next day, when the manager came, he insisted that he had received no money from Agoda even though I showed him the proper deduction from my bank account. Finally after much insisting he did admit that he had received the money. Even then, he basically refused to give any of it back to me, saying that it was my mistake. He did allow us to stay at his hotel for three more nights, but the total cost we paid was less than the value of the money I had given him (through Agoda and the cash the first night). In other words, he was using the little bit of leverage that he had to try and squeeze us for cash, rather than try to fix things and make everyone a winner. I would avoid this place!

Great Location

Location, staff, swimming pool
This hotel is in a great location. Accross the road from the Sunday markets and a short walk to the night bazzar. We have stayed here before and have always found the staff very friendly. Breakfast now includes Thai food so there is something for everyone. The girls at the pool bar make the best Mango smoothies in Chiang Mai. This hotel is great value for money.
