I loved this hotel but there was one huge dislike the staff. The hotel was beautiful, surroundings we're perfect.

Ok for 1-2 nights

Big nice and clean pool. No problem with late arrival. Reception staff ok

Very bad lighting in the room, rooms very small but ok for 1-2 nights.. Nice clean swimming pool very relaxing after sideseeing. Not far away from grand palace (tuk tuk 60 bat). Nice lunch choice at reasonable proce.
Travel tip: Taxies if goingg on meter at similar price as tuk tuk . Bangkok is so poluted. Better to travel by taxi

Renovated hotel with pool

pool, clean, off the beaten track, nice breakfast
6.7
Nice, modern hotel with friendly staff. A bit out of the way of Kho San road, but close to all the attractions (10-15 min) walking. The superior room was a bit small and dark with a sink in the bedroom area and a view of bob-wire fence surrounding a dilapidated building under construction. The bed was two twins pushed together as the room was really small. I would not go there again despite the lovely staff and professional service.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Walk out fo teh double doors, go straight to teh golden buddah temple on your right, and go left to walk to Kho San (about 10 min.)

Good hotel

About a 15 minute walk to KoSan Rd. Close but still out of the craziness.

clean hotel. staff were nice. pool was nice too. the ac worked well, which is very important in bkk. i think the name has changed from golden tulip and that was a little confusing, but still worked out.

Great hotel but spotty internet

Great food, comfy beds, clean environment
8
The Internet was only available in the dinning area which was an inconvenience!
Hotel Feature Tip: There is a 7/11 across the street that is 4 lanes wide with no cross walks and can dangerous crossing! Just down the street on the same side there is a different 7/11 and much easier access

This hotel was good value for money in compared to others in the area. Its a good 20 min walk to Khaosan road etc but not a bad walk and pretty simple. Rooms are clean and pretty new good value for money.
Nightlife Tip: Tuk tuks Are around 30 Baht to khaosan road

Decent oldish hotel somewhat revitalized nr Kaosan

Decent accomodation for around 1200 baht

as usual i did a lot of researching on agoda before choosing this hotel in kaosan. i didn't want to be smack in the middle of kaosan where generally, hotels charge quite a bit due to the buzz around the area and demand is high, but also there are none or not many newish hotels in that area purpose built etc. generally they all have a very backpackers, ad-hoc feel in my humble opinion. first thing to note is that the name golden tulip essential vasu hotel may simply be "off the radar" for cabbies. they tend to know it by its former name "trang hotel". there is however a large vertical dark blue signboard with golden tulip when you are upon the hotel but because it's situated under a overhead highway system, visibility is impaired somewhat. the lobby is unimpressive (not a significant negative in my books) and is more like a check in counter. white (matt, slightly passe) stone/marble tiled floor and walls, and architecture in the main building that looks more like a medium sized hospital. but wait, it gets better from here... my room was in the adjacent building accross the hotel's driveway, and its obvious that some new additions with a cosy wood strip floored alfresco courtyard flanked by 4 floors of hotel rooms on two sides, and further in, an interesting swimming pool as you walk further into the adjecent building area. having prepared myself for some disappointment whilst checking in, the rooms turned out to be decent, if you're paying thb1200... refurbished and not as "tired looking" as one would believe judging from the lobby area. i ate several times at the restaurant downstairs, and items on the menu (i tend to eat thai food only in thailand) was fairly priced and quite yummy. good thing too because for days you just wanted to "hang out" and not do the 15 to 20 miniute walk to kaosan road. my room and the environment around the swimming pool and the alfresco cafe is like an oasis in an area that is not as loud as near to kaosan road itself

Nice hotel but horrible location

Shower has hot water and water pressure!
6.7
Best shower I had in ages. It had a closed door and water pressure which is rare for Asia. Nice clean rooms with ac and tv. Lighting in rooms was not great which sucks if your a girl. Overall nice hotel but bad location no tuk tuk driers or taxi drivers knew where it was! It took us about an hour of asking to find it! It is about a 30 min walk to khao San road or if you get a tuk tuk and taxi its no more then 50 baht.
