cheap price for a reason

cost and location
showing some real age which they try to pass off as "charming". there is a semblance of a breakfast in the morning which is a nice touch but you feel like you are sharing it with the disenfranchised.

Nice hotel but poor handling of your money

Nice continental breakfast, good room size and close to Downtown.
My stay at the Doral Inn was overall, a joyful and easy experience. At the end of the day, it was a travelodge, so no frills to be expected and for the limited amount of time I spent in my room it suited it's purpose. However, their issues with money is awful. First of all they surprise you on the door with a $50 deposit that you're required to pay before you're allowed your key. Next, on the website for the hotel it clearly advertized that they would only charge you at the end of your stay, however, by the middle of the week they'd already tried to draw the money out of my account, leaving me overdrawn. When questioned about this, they stated that the end of the week payment is only applicable if you book on the door (Who does that apart from backpackers?). Finally, they've kept my deposit on hold, and it's been over 2 weeks since I left the hotel and they've still failed to relinquish my deposit back to me regardless of the fact they were adamant that I'd get it back the day after checking out and furthermore I'd definitely left the room immaculate.

Good for budget travel

Friendly staff, relatively convenient location, good price point
Not the best hotel in town, but the friendly service made up for it. The hotel is made up of a couple of converted old houses, so each room is different. The fixtures are old, but they have new flat screen TVs in each room. There were six of us traveling and we had wanted to have two people sharing a room. When we arrived, I found out that we have made a mistake of booking 3 double bed rooms instead of 3 rooms with double occupancy. We looked at the double bed rooms and they were small, suitable for one person only. The front desk person, thanks to him, did not hesitate to change rooms for us, and upgraded all 3 rooms to double rooms. This made us happy.

Standard Business Hotel - perfect for few days

friendly staff, clean but stuffed rooms, intercontinental breakfast
the hotel is very well located, just 10min walk to parlament hill and national museum. the house is older and it seems. that the hotel had a lot of different owners in the past. but the staff try its best. there is a supermarket across the street. don't try to use the laundry... it won't work i can recommend the hotel if you wanna stay in ottawa a couple of days.

Great location but small rooms.

location, location, location
as shown above i really thought the location was good, but for the price that was about all. the room was very, very small and tight; my wife and i had to take turns moving around the room as two could not. the breakfast is adequate but very standard fare so we bought our own food to prepare in the mornings. if you have a car, as we did, the parking can be a nightmare as you are stacked up in the two small alleys on either side of the building and it required shunting of cars to get out. the room was clean and well maintained and personally i find that an important feature.

Sympathic Hotel but basic breakfast

Good location for visiting Ottawa / Gentle reception
Ther Hotel isideally loicated for visiting Ottawa. Goog price for value of the rooms. Kind people to help you out. Though the breakfast buffet was not verry well furnished, very basic, but OK. This hotel has no elevators so not easy accessible if you have difficulties to move
