Awful service
If you don't mind being treated like "cattle", or with disrespect as if you were in kindergarten, then this is the place for you. The place is clean, not fancy, but functional, and close to the city. Though, the rooms were freezing and you couldn't turn on the heat. I talked to the staff and they only gave me an extra blanket. I had a prepaid room for 4 nights, but I moved out on the 2nd, solely because I didn't want my holiday spirit to be killed by the rudeness of the staff. The emplyees were arrogant, unkind and nonhelpful if you asked about anything. In my opinion they even had sadistic features in their communication. The place had a really bad atmosphere. I'm happy I moved out, even though I didn't get a refund. I have stayed at other hostels on Manhattan before, with much better service. It was a terrible mistake to book a room at this hostel.

Value for money
Midtown Manhatten, good swimming pool, polite staff, single room fine if small, bathrooms cleaned regularly, so stay was fine.

Great stay!
To be honest, we weren't expecting much, considering what we had paid for the place. I was only expecting a bed in an open area. But, we got a bunk in a private room with lock. It had a TV, A/C and heat. There were two private showers and two shared showers (men) and the location was great. Will definitely be staying here again!

Great option
Private rooms at reasonable price in great location. Daily use of steam room and sauna was a nice bonus!
Great stay! Loved having all the perks of access to the Y! Location was great. Simple and basic rooms, but clean and all you really need.

convenient and inexpensive
location, cleanliness, security
If you are looking for an inexpensive (for midtown Manhattan), secure, and clean place to stay, this is it. Single room is very small but quite adequate. Shared bathrooms and showers are immaculate. You also have access to the recreation center and pool. Only complaint is a very noisy heating system with very loud clanking pipes that awoke me almost hourly. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Lots of reasonable options for eating nearby.

Decent for the money
The amenities, location, and price on new year's eve
The room was basic for our needs. We just needed a place to crash close to the ball drop. There are great amenities that we were unable to use given the 1 night stay. It's close to public transit and decent for the price.
