There must be better

The room was big.
I was in the town to visit the plain of jars and stayed 2 nights. Poor value $50 per night. The staff barely speak English which is poor for a hotel. The TV had only two channels and when I informed reception I was told other rooms had more channels. Eventually she said someone would come and check it. I am still waiting. Communication was almost impossible. Also the location is awful, 10 minutes walk up an unlit track. The bed was very hard so may not suit many. There is no need to stay in this town for more than 2 nights so I suppose many put up with it. The few hotels on the main road didn't look too good....

staff, breakfast, comfort
The hotel is great although a little far form the centre of town. The view from the hotel is wonderful that is if you could see it!! In their wisdom they've planted tress so blocking out the view completely, a great shame.

Basic hotel with a view

location, view, privacy
Although room comfort can be improved, basic needs were met.

A bit tired

It needs updating. Heating in rooms has to be installed - it was unseasonably cold but there was no heating at all and the windows and door had gaps. Breakfast was adequate but I would have expected a buffet at a three star hotel. It didn't bother us but some would find it's location behind houses a bit noisy

Check for other tours

quiet clean staff
my stay was pleasant, although the room was quite cold. Request portable heater. They might supply more warm covers for the bed. The tour operator who met my plane said he was affiliated with the hotel his tour was good, but very expensive. Search for other operators if possible.

Location OK, good shuttle service, very cold room

Shuttle on demand to town, very inexpensive, attractive latout
The room was OK but unpleasantly cold, and no heating was provided the first night. We went to bed early and huddled under two duvets to keep warm in a room that can't have been warmer than 13 or 14 degrees C. When we were shown to the room, it was damp and distinctly colder than the outside air temperature, and we had the feeling it hadn't been used for some time. For the second night I managed to get an electric heater, but at a max. of 800 watts it was pretty ineffectual. The layout of the hotel is attractive, but the staff really need training, especially the servers at breakfast, although the driver of the shuttle was great and very helpful. Overall, though, at USD 60 for a two room unit, it's very reasonably priced.

Disorganised and overrated

Hot water for shower, quiet location, good views
The great views could not make up for the fact that the pillow cases were not changed and reeked of previous occupant(s) hair grease. We had to improvise our clothes and bags as pillows. No toothpaste, and when we requested they have expired toothpaste that's re-packaged (toothpaste came out lumpy, discoloured, with weird smell/taste). Service staffs could not understand English, except for one who spoke minimal. Disorganized and inefficient. The only saving grace is there is hot water for the shower and clean towels, no bed bugs. Not sure how other inns fare though.

Staying at plain of jars

Location was very good , evening meal not too bad , free shuttle to town
We experienced similar problems with this hotel. Highlighted by other reviews. Beds were as hard as we have experienced in china ! Room were of good size and all had nice views . Bath room was very very tired and in need of refurbishment . The breakfast was very poor , with only precooked eggs that were cold by the time one got them . Good free shuttle into town , hotel had lots of potential but the poorest hotel experience during our in laos
