Wild beach experience in a comfortable way

The beach, the burgers and the owners
10
We travelled as a couple, and as for Verde Safari we actually planned to stay here for two days and then move to another location, but once we got to the place(after pretty adventurous way on a bike)we almost instantly decided to stay for 2 more nights and never regretted it. The Verde Safari’s beach is called Nagmay, it’s wide and pretty long sandy beach, with no rocks, it’s not steep so it's suitable for people with any swimming abilities, and it's pretty wild with jungles and small village right behind it. It’s about 1 hour drive from El Nido. Compared to Nacpan, which is considered by many, as the best beach in El Nido, it’s a bit shorter and a bit wider, lacks stones in water, which is good for swimming, and cleaner as there much less people. Compared to los cabanos beach its only cons is that the view from the beach lacks beautiful islands, only the one that is owned, but thanks to that fact it’s a perfect location to enjoy sunsets, as nothing hinders to see the sun meeting the horizon. The stay in Verde Safari was a pearl of our Shanghai-Puerto Princessa-El-Nido-HongKong trip. If you're looking for secluded beach and wilderness, and yet without problems with electricity or water(you actually can drink water from shower, cause it’s filtered, and the pressure is good which is rare in El Nido) then that’s it. The chances are that there will be no one but you on the whole beach. It depends on a person, but that’s exactly what we were looking for. Swimming at night under the bright moon, with thunderstorm passing by on the horizon, with water highlighted from beneath by white sand, and no sounds but waves and distant thunderbolts, and all that being Alone on the beach, oh, that’s amazing… I doubt that you can feel anything like that anywhere in El Nido but here. I’d like to thank for wonderful stay, you guys really made our travel wonderul! I'd write much more, if there were no 2000 chars limit here)

Lost money, lost time, lost patience.

Location, location, location.

Don't bother with this place. The Place: Not in El Nido, but 28km away. There are two small rooms, right next to the generator which goes all night and made sleep impossible. There is nothing else around. The only food to be found is at the hotel, and it's priced to take advantage of the fact. The walls of the rooms are paper thin so if you can hear anything above the generator, it will be your neighbour. You might be able to get a fisherman to take you out but they have no licences for tours so all the great sights to be found around El Nido are not accessible to you. There's no real reef for snorkelling, there are beautiful hills and forests and a rock-climbing wall. The Management: The staff is, without getting too personal, a passive-aggressive person who responded to our complaints of the noise from the generator by stating that we were lucky it wasn't louder, and that he and his buddies had "slept through way worse loud explosions while on tour in Iraq." That's all well and good but we had not paid for a simulated stay in Falluja. He complained that we were "too demanding" when we asked why there was no water in the room after a near sleepless night. He told us this was our fault for asking him to turn off the generator the night before so we could sleep. He implied that my girlfriend was the source of all our complaints, talked over me at all times, insisted that we were the first disgruntled guests, blamed the locals for all the noise and all his troubles and then begged us not to leave negative reviews online. If he had had the decency to refund us our money after we left after the first night (instead of staying for 5), I would have thought that was fair enough and we could all move on. Instead he refused. So much for his "nine years in customer service".

Amazing!

Friendly staff, private beach, relaxing and secluded
9.3
We had an amazing time at Verde Safari. Located about 45 minutes from El Nido town proper, this wonderful little resort is secluded at the very north tip of Palawan. If you are in El Nido, you definitely need to make the trip to at least have lunch and relax on the beach for the afternoon. I would recommend staying a few nights though. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will cook up delicious meals or snacks anytime you want. They have an entire strip of beach to themselves so it is never crowded. They can even arrange for the locals to take you on a private boat ride and island hopping tour. You can also take out their snorkeling equipment to the lava rocks down the beach anytime you want. If you are looking for busy nightlife or city activities, this place may not be for you. But for a relaxing and secluded vacation, Verde Safari can't be beat!

Great place with its own beach.

Huge beach, in the middle of nowhere and friendly staff.

This hotel is rather unique with its out of the way location and minimal technology. Some may find it an inconvenience but I enjoyed the break from modern cities.

With the right expectations - a paradise!

The quietness, the setting by the sea, the small size
7.3
If you are looking for a quiet beautiful place on the beach, in wounderful settings with very few tourists, you`ve come to the right place! When we arrived (a family of four) we were the only guests at the whole place. And the family rooom was terific - so go for that! Don´t expect shopping or restaurants, because there are none. But the staff is very friendly, and try to do everything to make you feel comfortable. (even if their english skills are a bit limited..) The meny was the same for 5 days, so be prepared for chicken and pork. Dogs are everywhere. The only negative thing was the sandflies.. beware! A part from that, a lovely place!

a place to forget the life stresses

private beach, remote friendly staff
8.3
if you are looking for a place for partying, restaurants and luxuries of life, this is not a place for you. this is a remote place ( 45 minutes 4WD drive from El Nido ) with mobile signal, WI FI, or television, no restaurants or bars in around. but this is the charm of the place. a complete peace and quite. a minute walk from your own one kilometre beach, great staff and and owner that are very attentive but imposing, the food is basic but very fresh averall great stay

inconvenient location with quiet private beach

Hospitable staff; great breakfast; contribution to local community
6.7
It's located 1 hour bumpy car drive from El Nido town, not very nice journey after 10 hours on choppy sea from Coron to El Nido. It provides pickup service, which cost PHP900. (The round trip will cost PHP1500). Kind of pricey. The hotel room we got faces the sea with lots of coconut trees. The location is great for those who love camping or get fed up with noisy town life. The staff are really nice. They prepared fried rice and fish soup for us. They know Chinese love fried rice and soup! And we really do. We finished all the breakfast. The lady who runs the hotel told us that she was trying to help local community, which is admirable! Besides, there was no wifi, no phone reception. Kind of reclusive...

One of the best stretch of beaches

beach, the view and sunset
9.3
Staying at verde safari is a unique experience. We stayed in a tent but it has basic amenities like a 6-inch mattress with memory foam for pillows! The common bathroom is also clean and nice. No other resort on the place so expect to get food with them for 200-300 pesos per meal of good proportion. The whole place is clean and neighboring areas are undeveloped so expect to have insect and sand flea guests--even though the resort fogs the area for such nuisances.
Jannice T. Families with older children Philippines, May 23, 2013
A great escape with nature and the beach

location, beautiful and serene beach
9.7
Verde Safari is an environmentally friendly place. Located in the middle of a long, white sandy beach that is all to yourself. The beach has crystal blue-green waters with no rocks or sea grasses--just perfect for swimming. The place mostly relies on solar power and generator, so expect minimal use of electronics. No internet and sometimes no mobile signal.

Verde Safari is located about 30 kilometers North of El Nido Town proper, at Sitio Dagmay, Teneguiban. The road from town is about 11 kilometers cemented and the rest of the way to Bucana is dirt road with flat terrain. Bucana to Dagmay is hilly and therefore require some riding skills on a dirt road, and to some it’s a pleasant adventure. Boat ride depends on the weather…during summer season its calm, and during monsoon season it can be rough.

By Land all the way to the resort:

A. Best option is to contact the resort and arrange a 4×4 Air-conditioned Toyota Hilux Transfer service, available from 9AM to 6PM daily. A 45-minute ride one way from El Nido town to Verde Safari is charged at PHP900 per booking (max for 2 pax), roundtrip. Please contact the hotel and provide your complete location and arrival details prior to arrival.

B. Motorbike - From Town, take the road towards the North. Take a Left to Pasadena/Barotuan. This would take about 1 hour by motorbike. When you reach the Bgy. Bucana signage/marker, take a left to Bucana, turn right to Duli Road and just follow the 4km scenic drive road and it will lead you to Sitio Dagmay. Find the dirt road that turns right to Verde Safari.

C. 4-Wheel Vehicles - Only 4×4 wheeler and Vans are ideal for going to Dagmay. Cars are not recommended to traverse Bucana to Sitio Dagmay road as it requires going up steep hills. Travel time is about 45 minutes.

By Land to Bucana, and a boat ride

A. Vehicle or Motorbike - From Town, take the road towards the North, take a Left to Barotuan. Take a Left to Bucana, till you reach the Hanging Bridge, where we can arrange a boat to pick you up. It takes about 45 minutes by bike and 15 minutes by boat. On the return trip, MAA Bus leaves Bucana to town daily at 6AM.

Hire a pumpboat in Bucana or arrange it with the resort to pick you up at the Hanging Bridge area. P300 one way for a boat that can have 4 passengers. If you want to take this route, inform the hotel ahead of time so they can arrange a boat for you to go to Verde Safari. You can hike Bucana to Verde Safari, it will take you over an hour. By 4×4, it’s 8 minutes.
