Need of cleaning and upgrading

Have potential
Arriving late, a little diffucult to find as Google map location is not exact. Room was partly clean, area around bed and bathroom was not cleaned and was very dirty. Managemnt blaimed the new cleaning lady, which only says bad management. Bed and pillow very hard, so hardly got any sleep.

be careful when selecting this hotel

the style of decoration
Not so comfortable: 1. the location is far from the city; 2. the address on website is not correct; 3. it was cold in the room and there was not enough hot water for shower; the quilt was not enough for keeping warm when sleeping.

Past it's prime, but still worth a visit

HUGE suite, traditional design, quiet location
What a different experience! We stayed here the last two nights of our stay due to other circumstances...we were annoyed at first to have to move, but were glad we got to spend two nights at the View Doi. The resort is WAY out I the countryside, and was very difficult for our driver to find...he had to stop and call the hotel three times. The hotel provides an airport shuttle and guides to hire for the day, but prices were way too high, easily twice or ore what we found at other hotels. That said, I'd be scared to take a random taxi or songthai from Chiang Mia back to the was hard to find. The resort is beautiful, but probably 15-20 years past its prime. Great architecture and features and a pond with a rowboat, and all kinds of statues and artifacts, but much of it is crumbling or grown over. The meals were menu, we just ate what she had prepared for the night. Best part was our family suite. It covered at least 2000 square feet and included two large bedrooms and several outdoor patios, seating areas, and pavilions. We felt like ancient Thai nobility. Would recommend a night or two for the experience, but not as a base for Chiang Mai adventures.

Perfect secluded location and friendly staff!

Staff, restaurant, ambience
this was a fantastic place to bring two small children (age 6 and 3) and serve as a base for day trips in/around Chiang Mai. The staff right off the bat put us in touch with an excellent guide to take us around- While maybe pricey at around 5000B per day for such service it gave us a dedicated vehicle and translator, plus an extra set of hands to manage a very adventurous 3 year old! Everyone at the hotel made us feel like family, to include birthday cake that we hadn't asked for for our son, and lanterns for the loi krathong festival. As was previously mentioned, they will on occasion drive you into the city as well as required, though our guides generally did that- They will charge, but that is perfectly reasonable. The only drawback may be the distance to the city (approx 15km), but with the kids we weren't planning on going out to enjoy the nightlife anyway, so the country was far more suitable for us!

A great. quiet retreat

Peacefulness, seclusion, bathroom
We were the only guests there, so received maximum attention from the very friendly staff. A great place of escape/romance. Our suite had a wonderfully inviting indoor/outdoor bathroom with a large bath .
