Two traditional Laotian houses located near the Nam Kan River old bridge, restored and protected under the authority of the UNESCO World Heritage Program, make up this hotel. The hotel is situated in the historical center of Luang Prabang, a 20-minute walk to town, and is set in a beautiful, large tropical garden. Freshly baked baguettes and croissants, a bowl of fresh fruit, and eggs make a great start to the day. A visit to the nearby elephant camp is unforgettable, and the Buddhist temple located right behind the hotel offers a glimpse into local life. Relaxing

Pool Breakfast Peaceful

The hotel is almost there. But simple things that could be put right at little cost, become frustrating like: poor wifi (good wifi is a must have). no in room safes. putting belongings and collecting them from the hotel safe is tiresome. It says it has massage but I was told "that is being built". If you haven't got don't say you have. This is not the cheapest place in L.P. so why cut corners. A few others I spoke to are of the same opinion. The place has great potential

Pretty nice room and grounds

Nice place,very clean
6.7
I enjoyed villa Maydou. It's a nice place with a nice pool. Rooms are very clean, although very squeaky as they are all solid wood and have moved a bit over time. We only ate breakfast here. The food was good but the staff's English is as bad as my Laos so ordering anything is challengingly, but they are a very nice. Great pool. About a 15 minute walk out of town which I enjoyed, nice and quiet, but it was the low season. Add some screaming children at the pool and that could all change...

A Peaceful Sanctuary

Poolside Room, Pool, Staff, Free Bicycles
9.7
I stayed for 10 days over the Water Festival/Laos New Year in a Poolside room - which was just perfect. For the 3 days of the Water Festival I could hide in this peaceful sanctuary with short forays into the madness/noisy music in the town. Free bicycles made it easy to pop into the center of town for dinner or other activities in 5 minutes, or just go exploring. The pool was a wonderful luxury. The staff always so friendly and helpful. The young French Manager was highly attentive to her guests needs. The restaurant had good food and the breakfast, was one of the best - warm croissants and baguettes, and eggs cooked to order. Will definitely return here!

Beautiful architectural style and gardens

Architectural style, gardens and location
6.7
The hotel's architectural style, the gardens and it's location next to a wat (temple), which also doubles as the hotel's car park were it's best aspects. We stayed in the junior suite, which was supposed to be the best room in the hotel but yet the layout was strange, the sofa was outside, but the TV, located very far from the bed could only be watched from the bed or from the treasure chest located at the foot of the bed. Our friends who chose a standard room had a nice sofa inside, yet no TV? The main issue we had though was with the air-con. After turning it on, there was a lot of noise, presumably due to some sort of blockage, perhaps ice forming inside? The female French manager was apologetic and offered to move us, but as soon as we agreed suddenly all the rooms were full. This was apparently due to the Lao new year (Pi mai Lao) which meant all the rooms were occupied until the day we departed. I was disappointed that we encountered this issue and had to sleep with our windows open using the ceiling fan, when our friends in their cheaper standard room had working air-con. No offer of compensation was made either. Wifi was inconsistent and spotty - it worked OK half the time and was non-existent for the other half. This issue also needs to be rectified. Breakfast was a disappointment. Apart from the croissants, the bread was stale and boring, the choices were poor (only a little bit of jam, butter, 3 types of fruit and cereal, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and eggs), Lao soup only available by ordering the night before, slow service. The pool was nice and refreshing, albeit a little on the small side. The location was fine, walkable within 10-15 mins to the main sites including Wat Phousi or 5-10 mins by bicycle. If these issues I have identified can be rectified, the hotel has the potential to be given an 8.5/10 rating. Right now the best I can give it is around 6.5-7/10.

We stayed in wooden house and floor was very noisy, squawking sound while walking in room was too irritating , in-house restaurant is not best for vegetation. Over all nice experience. hotel interior in nice staff is co-operative. my kid enjoyed PiMai with staff.
