Not Bad

Location. Pool. Free Parking.
7.3
We've stayed here on a number of occasions. It's convenient for us as it's very close to family that we visit. Also it gives good quick access to York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, etc. We tend only to have breakfast here if it's included in an offer; when we have it's been ok. The rooms are of an adequate size. On our last stay we had a new room which was better than the 'average'. I think we were upgraded as it was available, but if the price wasn't excessive I'd book it again. The room was clean but on every occasion we've stayed there the backs of the tv sets are absolutely filthy and are never cleaned (small point?). I do not know why there are no Freeview channels available; the available programmes are very limited. Overall, apart from the pool and gym, restaurant and bar it's a 3-star Travelodge. We'll stay again as it's convenient - but it's not cheap.

We were visiting relatives.

Position. Car parking.
6.3
We were visiting relatives that lived close by so position was ideal. It was close to the ring road and gives easy access to other areas and airport. Due to many business meetings there and the leisure club members parking, I found it difficult finding a parking space. The Reception staff were very friendly. The room was adequate but there was no remote control for the TV and I had to get one from Reception. The TV had had ALL it's cables removed for some reason. The sound quality of the TV was poor and there was a very poor selection of programs available. No cable movies. The swimming-pool was very good and big with sauna, two jacuzis, and a steam room -- very good! Only had breakfast there which was very good quality for me.

Too hot!

Location, facilities and price.

As in the past the facilities are good and the staff friendly. However, this year we became aware of some disappointing elements. Firstly the new dinning room may be trendy, Italian feel, but it is very badly organise, craped and the staff have all be trained to use the same patter and if we were asked whether we were enjoying our meal one more time I would have screamed. I had a very plain and tasteless pizza, so it was hardly necessar5y or appropriate. Overall the hotel looks tired. The carpets, walls etc are in need of decoration and replacement. The final grouse was we realised, due to the heat wave, that there was no air conditioning. The windows opened about two centimetres and there was a tiny fan in the room. As a result, I have never slept in so hot a room and we come from Perth Western Australia. My wife doesn't want to come back and stay there again and she never complains. I love the location and it is great to visit the beautiful countryside, city and friends and relatives. Parking is good and free wifi good.

Nice location for what i came for

Room clean and warm

Stay was alright. Staff friendly especially in the restaurant. Noisy on the floor of my room in the middle of the night. Unable to use the facilities as they finish early

Somewhat overpriced

Good position for attending a large family event

The staff at reception were very friendly and our room was a good size but the complimentary toileteries turned out to be a dispenser on the wall containing a combined body and hair wash;I expected better at the price. Breakfast was only average - the fruit salad was a boring mix of apple and white melon but the fried breakfast was quite good. The spa area was good but I felt that, overall, the hotel did not represent good value for money. Apart from the spa this hotel was no better than a Premier Inn but more than twice the price.
