Awful management
the food
Absolutely awful management. Here is the experience we had: •On pickup from the airport we were given a phone call saying there was some medical emergency and our rooms weren’t available, when we arrived at the Taj Palace (nowhere near where we wanted to be in the city) the clerk told me the other hotel was just overbooked. •They tried to give us rooms with double beds even though we had booked single queen beds. After discussing it one of us still got a room with twins and had to go back down and ask to be moved. •We had a bad experience with a cab that the hotel recommended – not a big deal it happens. We went and spoke to the concierge and told them about the experience and they were really disrespectful to us and treated us like we just stepped off the plane in front of other guests at the hotel. We've been living in India for a while. •Our company called on Saturday and arranged the airport drop-off. On Sunday we stopped in during the early afternoon just to remind them and it was as if it was the first time they had heard about us needing to go to the airport. We had the same experience when the time actually came to leave. It was like none of the earlier conversations had happened. •When I paid for the drop-off they said we would need two cars even though we said we could fit in just one. I finally agreed because they weren’t being very flexible and we were running behind schedule to catch our flight. When the bill came for me to sign I was billed two different amounts. When I asked why they said it was going to be one sedan and one SUV/Innova type of car. When I stepped outside they had two sedans for us and said that they had “upgraded” us to nicer cars. At this point we needed to leave for the airport (we were already almost a half hour later than the time we had asked them to have the cars ready) so we couldn’t do anything. Agoda was able to refund half of what I paid, but I will hesitate before using Taj Hotels again.

A great place to stay...
Location, the friendly staff and excellent drivers
My stay was very good. The rooms are spacious which is great. Though the room I was in was looking a little tired and could do with a spruceup. The free wifi was slow so I chose to take the plan that you pay for. It was faster but not as fast as I needed for my work email. The location is excellent!! The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel drivers were great!!

three star hotel masquerading as a five star
polite staff
Dingy and smelly bedrooms, bathrooms that had cracked tiles, sink and bathtub clogged up really fast, restaurant was cramped and totally overpriced, the air conditioning in the hotel corridors was not working in some places. Only good thing was the staff was polite. When I gave this feedback to the general manager of the hotel, Suman Gahlot, I was told "kindly note we are in the process of upgrading the property in a phased manner. " Sheer arrogance, isn't it? Basically this is a three star that masquerades as a five star under the guise of an "art deco heritage hotel" and charges five starprices. Avoid at all costs. The Taj Group should be embarrassed and ashamed of lending their name to this dingy motel.

It could be such a nice place
Great location near khan Market
Staying at the Ambassador is an underwhelming experience. One senses that the place should be fantastic and that today's operation is just a missed opportunity. Nowhere to have a drink ? Really? In addition one doesn't expect to have plastic floorboard in this kind of heritage building.

Awesome staff, but rundown for the price.
Food, Staff, Room size.
The room was dark and very out of date, needing a renovation at this point. My opinion is based on the hefty daily rate for the room. I thought I was getting a 5 star hotel, but it really didn't feel like it. The location wasn't very good, either. Not much going on in that part of town and a bit of a hike to old Delhi.. BUT, it is very very close to the metro, and that is good. Pictures on the walls in the hotel refer to a time gone by with Hollywood stars from the 50's. Perhaps this is when the hotel was a luxurious place to be? The staff were super helpful and responsive. If anything, it got to be annoying, because I was getting phone calls and knocks on the door to see how I was going. This was interrupting my relaxation, but even so, they meant well. Despite the excellent service, I would not stay there again, only because the location is not very close to anything touristy and the super high price versus the dingy rooms. I would probably either pay more for something more modern, or go with hundreds of dollars less and get the same quality of venue.
