Great beach

location and how close it was to the sea
The room was OK. I think we got one of the better rooms - it had a nice little balcony. The room was clean but very basic. Access to beach is great, but it takes around 20 min with a tuk-tuk to get to the down town. This hotel is in Otres 2, so further away from all the other hotels, restaurants and bars on Ottres 1.

Beautiful and quiet and relaxing

If you like quiet surroundings with beautiful unspoilt beach then this is place for you. I loved it although don't lay in sand as there are sand flies around as sand is more undisturbed than other ar

Great website, poor reality

Nice beach
Otres has many power outages, so these rooms were very hot. For the money we would have been better staying at a cheaper place covered in a mosquito net. Room cleanliness was also very poor.

Room was OK but the owner was nice

We had 2 night stay, sometime no electric, but was ok. And I'm happy with the service

Great hotel and wonderful service

Friendly service,clean room, great bed
it was an absolute delight to stay at the shangri-la bungalows. we had booked the double bangalow and had a fantastic room. great bed, spacious, clean, mosquito netting in front of the window and a wonderful view in the first floor. the staff was very friendly and helpful for anything we required. the location i can highly recommend because otres beach is still a little paradise. as you can hear we enjoyed our stay

Great staff, average everyhting else

NICE people, comfrtable enough with a decent bathroom
If you're staying on one of the more undeveloped beaches in Sihounoukville, be prepared for power outages and cold showers. This particular hotel is a typical beach accommodation so it's rather rustic and similar to all the other bunglaows nearby, albiet more expensive (not sure why). It says this hotel is in Otres beach, but it's Otres 2 which is father than Otres 1. Otres 1 is where you'll find more bunglaows, more civilization, food choices and an ATM. Otres 2 is VERY quiet, which is nice for people looking to really get away, but it's a $2 tuk tuk ride to any semblance of civilization. Not sure about the food, we had breakfast but never ate any other meals at Shangri La. Wi-fi was pretty solid (except when the power is out) and reaches all the way to the beach which is nice. Bungalows themselves are dark but clean and reasonably spacious. Overall, my advice would be to stay on Otres 1 since it still has a quiet relaxing vibe unlike most other parts of the island, but if you're really looking to get away, this is probably a fine place to stay.

Skip it - stay elsewhere.

Nice beach
A combination of poor housekeeping and poor design will see a film of water across the floor of your bathroom throughout your stay (including at check-in). This attempt at funky design does not really work. The restaurant has a very limited menu with no Khmer dishes . The relatively location may not suit. Metfone, a major local internet provider only has limited wireless reception in spot. The staff do their best but the place is kinda "born wrong". If you want to stay at Otres Beach stay elsewhere.

Nice location in a quite distant part of Otrez

Helpful guy at reception desk
Far too overpriced. Neither good view nor anything else attractive. The floor in toilet/shower was soapy when we arrived. Can't say "clean" either.. The restaurant staff ignored us: no menu provided, so we went for a meal to another place. Stayed there for one night - and can't say we enjoyed.

Stay somewhere else

This place is just not ready to be open to the public. 1) The rooms could be nice but are not well taken care of. They are small and unpractical. White neon lights make them unpleasant at night. The bathroom is a joke: it was so poorly conceived that the water gets stuck after a shower, so you get your feet wet every time you use the restroom after taking a shower. Everything looks old or second-hand even though the place is supposed to have opened in September 2012! 2) We stayed for two nights, but the room was not cleaned. 3) The electricity was cut off several times. All neighbors are prepared and use their own power source but this place doesn't have one 4) The hotel doesn't offer any kind of facility on the beach, not even a long chair or an umbrella to spend the hot afternoon. 5) The answer to all our questions was "we just opened". Clearly whomever it is that opened the place has no idea of how to run a hotel. Staff was unconcerned and helpless. None of this would really matter if it was not for the price. The hotel charges $35, which is a ridiculous amount of money for the services offered (and compared to all other places in Cambodia). Otherwise, Otres Beach is a very nice and laid back place. Ideal if you want to escape the crowds and if you want to spend a quiet day on the beach. No loud music, no drunk people shouting. A great quiet getaway. Just stay anywhere else. There are many cheaper and basic options around. Just don't stay at Shangri La.

Nice place, but it needs a lot of improvement

friendly staff, nice veranda with good view over the sea
the bokked room with A/C was not available, the given bungalow very small, except the bed no other furniture, nothing to hang the clothes on. No food available, we had to go to another restaurant. The tap in the shower was broken, the waste pipe blocked. No clening-service in the room, no electricity (min. 4 hours) in the evenenings, the second eveneing we got a candle. The beach is dirty, no deck cahairs or parasols available for the hotel-guests. The prices are much higher than in other hotels/bungalows
