great beds bad ac

the employees, the garage covered parking, the complimentary breakfast
The air conditioner in our room made grinding noises constantly. It did cool to our satisfaction but we were unable to regulate the temperature so the noise was constant. Reported problem to desk clerk who was unable to change our room nor fix the malfunctioning ac. glad we endured only one night.

Adequate Accommodations with a Good Pool

The Pool, The Pool, and (did I mention) The Pool?
I arrived at the Phoenix Place and Suites hotel on a Friday evening with a confirmed booking, only to be told that the hotel was full and my room had been given away. (Apparently they are good at taking reservations, not so good at keeping them). I was directed to go to the Sheraton (about twenty minutes away) and told that my room for the night would be complimentary. While the gesture was appreciated, I had just flown close to ten hours and waited an hour for a rental car – all I wanted to do was check into my room, kick off my shoes and relax. The Phoenix Place and Suites did not make this happen. I did make my way to the Sheraton, after voicing my displeasure at being denied a room, and checked in there without any problems. (Except, of course, for being told that while my room would be paid for, the $17 for parking was not included). Sigh. Anyway – by day two of my trip I actually checked into the Phoenix Place. You should know that this hotel used to be a Radisson, but apparently the corporate powers that be decided to remove it from their portfolio. The hotel is located in a really quiet part of Phoenix – REALLY quiet… Don’t expect anything to be going on around that area after 9:00pm (there is a 24 hour Walgreens within walking distance and an IHOP fifteen minutes away by car). The room was perfectly adequate, but by no means anything special. The breakfast buffet, included with the room, was also adequate (eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, fruits, breads, juices, coffee, etc.), but missing some standards (waffles and French toast for example). The best thing about the hotel was the pools (one was heated, the other not). There was also a beach volleyball pit, but unless you’re traveling with your beach volleyball team I’m not sure what use this amenity serves. Overall, I am sure you can find a better deal elsewhere – I would recommend staying in Scottsdale as opposed to Phoenix. (And watch out for a 17% state tax on your stay)!

Good hotel

Spacious rooms, good location, friendly staff
Phoenix is not the most exciting city, but shopping is good. The climate is very nice (warm and dry).

okay for business trips

rooms are clean, service is okay, location is pretty central
I chose the hotel for its central location in Phoennix, can be reached even without car and due to its proximity to the rail street car you can get anywhere easily includinng the airport.
