In a prime position between the Grand Mosque and the Drum Tower, Xian Wenyuan Hotel is flanked by Xian’s most noteworthy sites. Surrounded by centuries-old architecture, this property occupies one of the most enviable pieces of real estate in Xian - a moment’s walk from the Bell Tower and right beside Muslim Street. Across the road, shuttles from the airport stop regularly and taxis are in plentiful supply for trips to the Terracotta Army or the Wild Goose Pagodas. In contrast to its classic, lantern-adorned facade, accommodation at the Xian Wenyuan Hotel is modern and of an international standard with Western breakfasts, Internet access, and a ticket booking desk. Both a Chinese and a Western restaurant can be found on-site, but with the endless dining opportunities on Muslim Street and downtown Xian right on the doorstep, it would not be considered imprudent to eat out every night. Poor service and bad manner

Location...Location and Location , nothing special about this hotel
This is the worst hotel i have been stayed. We got room on another building, not main building and it's too far from the entrance. We complaint about this matter and they start change our room to main building... It's wasting time!! Outside room was always noisy.. Staff not polite, and have bad manner.

Pleasant stay at a centrally located hotel in city

Central location, helpful staff, great small spa service
Good pleasant stay. Close to Muslim market for street fair atmosphere.

Bed so hard we slept on the carpet - softer

That we only stayed 1 night
Would never go back to here...The two Taxis that we took from the Airport (3 couples)...one got lost and took 2 hrs to then drop us off not at the hotel but close to where he thought it was...luckily our other travellers were looking up and down the streets for us...great start to our stay...we were furious...then we see our rooms....the carpeted floor was softer than the beds so we all put our doona on the filthy carpet tried to sleep.

Great location but the room was too small

Very close to Bell Tower, Drum Tower and very convienient for shopping
I booked a twin bed room on Business class-$46.00, thought that I would get a little bigger room, probably because I arrived in the hotel at 10 pm, and only stay 1 night.so they gave me a smaller room, and carpet is not clean, hot water was stop when my friend was in the middle of her shower, I am very disappointed.
Shopping Tip: It is very close to Muslim area, shopping place, find something to eat, very convenient.

Location! Location! Location!

The position of the hotel is excellent and one of the English-speaking ladies at reception was very helpful.
We'd rate this as a 2.5-star - price OK for what you get. The rooms were a bit shabby - possibly could be smartened up a bit - and the air-conditioning didn't work so we just left the window open. The bathroom left a lot to be desired - it was clean but very dilapidated. Also, these are the hardest beds we slept on in our entire China trip ... in fact, in our entire lives!! The lighting was also a bit dull - yellow light rather than bright light. For those of us who are no longer 20 years old, this made reading a bit difficult. Check-in (unless you're walking in across Bell Tower Square) is via back alleys and the rear entrance and car-park of the hotel. We were then shown to our rooms which was a bit strange as this meant we had to leave the hotel (via the rear entrance), cross the carpark and go into another building out the back (buildings No. 2 and 3). I guess the better rooms were in the main building?
Travel tip: The BIG bonus for this hotel is when you actually walk outside via the front entrance. Stepping outside you're immediately on Bell Tower Square - you have the Bell Tower on your left and the Drum Tower on your right, plus what appears to be Piccadilly Circus out the front! If you turn right immediately after stepping outside and walk for about 2 minutes, you'll come to the Muslim Quarter which, at night-time, is a magical enchanted world of sights and smells, and which sells the BEST street-food you're ever likely to have! Essential to your visit to Xi'an.

Good hotel. Very well located.

Located in the city center, in front of the Drum Tower Square.
Good hotel in general, although it seemed that the carpet in our room had not been cleaned for years. It had stains all over. Breakfast not so good as it only satisfied chinese customers.

great location and service

excellent helpful staff spoke English. Great location by night market and close to airport shuttle
would recommend as a low priced hotel, this was across the road from the melody hotel where the airport shuttle goes and easy to find.

Fantastic location, very helpful staff

Fantastic location, very helpful staff
The hotel was easy to find and was very flash in the foyer. Our room was out the back in a more budget building but the room was fine. Clean with lots of hot water. We only booked for 1 night and wanted to extend this to 2 so they kindly let us use the hotel computer to go onto agoda to do this.

Excellent location, outstanding service

Location, great service and friendly staff
This hotel is in a great location, right between the bell and drum towers in the middle of the old city. It's easy walking distance to shops, restuarants, street food and the muslim quarter markets. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful. We arrived after an overnight train from Beijing and were met by a very helpful woman who spoke good English. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're Chinese isn't great (like ours). The room was also excellent, the bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom good as well. The carpets were a bit dirty but it didn't affect my allergies. Internet is lan only, they supplied a cable in the room. We loved this hotel, it was great value for money and close to everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again if we're in Xi'an.
Shopping Tip: Go to the Muslim quarter markets (out the hotel lobby to the right). The street food is good and you can bargain with the sellers there. The key with bargaining is to be prepared to walk away!
