In a town named after the smoky towers which were look outs for the invading Japanese, this property is about 15km from Yantai Laishan International Airport. The city is famous for its hot springs, and the Penglai Pavilion is a famous historical site - both of which are visited by thousands each year. Some islands and national parks near the area are also worth visiting when staying at the Yantai Marina Hotel. The hotel includes a revolving restaurant on the 25th floor, and a Coffee Bar which is the ideal place for an evening snack. The hotel also boasts a shopping arcade, nightclub, gym, and a billiards room. The front desk is open 24 hours to meet all your needs, whatever they might be. For things to do off-site, Bathing Beach is a mere six kilometers away.

Changes have improved it.

Good food & waterfront location
Have stayed 3 years before also at this same hotel & understand that under new management recently. changed for the better, especially the Buffet BF & exterior of the building. Though on the waterfront (marina), but still 10-15 minutes driving from city center & not very convenient in terms of nearby restaurants, walking around etc unless you take a taxi. But walking on the Marina next to the Hotel is quite nice though it was colder during the time I visited (Mid Nov). English communication is still a big issue. Work still seems to be going on upgrading the Hotel, so some section of the hotel seems to be closed. Location seems to be too quiet.

good hotel

the staff is very nice
The hotel is good, but it is kind of old. The food was not bad. The sea view was not eye catching. It was a regular sea view and unfortunately i also saw trashes floating. The breakfast was included, but agoda didnt say that.
Travel tip: Avoid this hotel if you plan to travel outside alot. Very difficult to find taxi. But you can hire a non licensed taxi if you plan going long distance. Theres bus station nearby if you understand the route.

Pretty ordinary!

Staff, beach
The staff are the best part of the hotel. The common areas aren't too shabby and the staff are really friendly and helpful, but the rooms are really shabby. Also, the location is nice in terms of being right on the beach, but you are a pretty long walk away from anything else - ie restaurants, sights etc. It's pretty cheap for a supposed 5 star (I assume that is self rated!), and you soon see why. Fine to stay, but temper your expectations
