Nice getaway near Kyoto

Beautiful onsen, close to Kyoto but very calm surroundings.
Late check-in but still made dinner for us. Very helpful and informative staff. Room had everything necessary. Nice and clean onsen hot springs, open late and also in the early morning.

Nice onsen in the mountains

Onsen, Scenic, Food
Wonderful. Onsen followed by Nabe hotpot dinner, walk in the woods. Next morning we had onsen and then breakfast before another walk in the woods followed by check out. Keep a copy of the hotel phone number and 10 yen on hand to call them for a pickup from the Ohara bus terminal. A direct bus from Kyoto bus terminal (Bus 18 at stop A3) to the Ohara bus terminal. 600 JPY per person as of Sept 2015.

Great hidden gem in the mountains

The onsen, the staff, and location
This is truly a remarkable little gem. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is clean. The onsen is clean and stocked as well as private. They have a shuttle that will take you down to the bus stop but take it from me, WALK. The walk down the road is absolutely gorgeous and passes by several little shops (including a wonderful little cafe). I will definitely stay here again.

Very nice suburb hotel

Friendly staff, Great meals, Beautiful onsen
You can get here by the bus No.17 from kyoto station to Ohara for 600 yen. We had nabe for dinner and it was really delicious. At night onsen close on 11pm and in the morning onsen open only 6-8am so don't get up late. Breakfast is salmon with rice and miso soup and etc. Good to stay for nice onsen and suburb view. I don't know about bike rental because we check-in late and woke up late. Nice staff by the way.

quiet location for relaxation

quiet, including breakfast and dinner, and great for relaxation
We had a great time staying at Yumoto Onsen Oharasansou. The place is quiet, clean, and the price is including breakfast and dinner which is a plus. We enjoyed our three nights stay there. We would like to do some serious hiking, but there's no map, except one at the bus station. The surrounding area at the hotel is not well mark on the trail. One can easily get lost. So we didn't go any further.

Wonderful Japanese countryside experience

Location, Clean, Onsen
The location is very good for those who are looking to experience the japanese country side. Its not very difficult to get to, but does take time (1 hr bus ride from city center, kyoto station). however, once you get there, its really beautiful and worth the time spent on the bus. You can easily spend a day near the hotel, going to the temples/shrines nearby or even the local town. The hotel provides free bicycle rental so its very convenient. The bath/hot spring is also very clean and enjoyable.

nice get away

country side, onsen, nice get away
though the location of the onsen hotel is quite far, it took us an hour and 5 mins to kyoto station to Ohara. but it all worth it for a busy and tiring visit around the city during the day. the area is a quite country side, nice fresh air over the busy city life. The onsen was pretty decent, food is pretty nice and staff are nice. i would come again and recommand the hotel to my friends and family.
