137 Pillars was a beautiful hotel - the atmosphere was serene and pretty, and our suite was fabulous! Toto, our butler was so nice and accommodating and helped us with reservations every day. The pool was so cool - a great place to end the hot Chaing Mai days!

Amazing place ”
137 is amazing. Exactly how it is in the photos when we were first deciding on the place. The way the place was built and the theme of the rooms were really nice. If you are looking for privacy this is the best and it is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We used the gym and pool, everything was great. We had a butler named TOTO and he was great too. I had him on whatsapp so everything was very convenient, asking for late check out or just what to do where to gowhen I’m out. Only thing that could be worked on is their breakfast spread. I stayed there for three days and got board by the lack of choices and almost similar food everyday. Other than that the breakfast staff are nice and friendly!

Fantastic stay.”
We spent the weekend together by the Government's promotion "We have a trip together". The physical setting of the resort is fantastic as they restored a century old house into their main clubhouse with the modern functionality and convenience as well as a museum. A couple of million $ more was sure spent just on this purpose as building a new clubhouse would be much cheaper and faster. I am glad we stayed in the room with a balcony overlooking that building right away. Old scenes of teak trading with flocks of strong elephants seemed to appear whenever you closed your eyes there. Services were excellent and the staff were very attentive while the room was clean and neat. There were not so many guests, thus, they let us stay extra via early check in and late check out. The only draw back was probably the tall condo building nearby at the pool but they put a high well-maintained plant wall to block that.

Expensive but best place we stayed at!”
This hotel is more expensive compared to others hotels for Thailand, but this was the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 week trip. The grounds were pristine, staff was amazing, and the rooms were beautiful. The best part of it all was the concierge staff helped make possible my proposal to my girlfriend here!

A New Definition to 5 Star Service”
137 Pillars property is unlike any place I have stayed (and we travel regularly) - the property is beautiful, peaceful, and a retreat from the world. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and most impressive is that no detail was too small or went overlooked. Nat, the food and beverage manager, took time to greet us during our first breakfast, gave us some good local spots to visit, taught us how to properly say please, thank you, and bargain for the night/weekend market, and was genuinely interested in how we were enjoying our stay and doing anything to help us. On the two mornings we left the hotel before breakfast began (6:30am), and including the morning we left for the airport, he arranged boxed breakfasts with fresh fruit, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, and juice for us to take with us. His personal attention to detail and service was phenomenal and the breakfast was great. The entire staff was terrific and very helpful and friendly, with the exception of the one gentleman who was at the front desk the night we arrived and at the front desk again the morning we left. He was curt and borderline rude - the opposite of every other staff person at 137 pillars. The housekeeping staff checked on the room throughout the day to replace waters, coffee, etc. One morning we had washed a few items in the bathtub to get some stains out and hung them to dry. When we came back, the clothes were hung neatly on a drying rack on our balcony and were dry. It is just another illustration of the staff going the extra mile to think of everything and take care of their guests in a manner I haven't experienced at any other hotel. I can not say enough about how wonderful the staff was. The next time we come to SE Asia, I will go out of my way to add a few days onto our trip to go back to Chiang Mai - for the sole purpose of staying at 137 Pillars. Thank you to the amazing staff for such a phenomenal stay.

Modern Elegance and most comfortable bed ever”
We kind of went out on a limb with 137 Pillars House because there were only a couple reviews for it on Tripadvisor. How pleased we were! Since we were on Honeymoon, they upgraded us to one of their master suites, which was very nice. We stayed at two other hotels on our honeymoon (Shangri La Bangkok and Imperial Adamas Phuket), and 137 Pillars was tied with the Shangri La for our favorite. What can I say? We loved 137! Some of the highlights: 1) Beautiful, modern elegance. A classic teak wood building next to modern grounds and a 30-foot vine wall and infinity pool make this hotel look very modern, yet classically elegant. 2) Very friendly and attentive staff. 3) Wonderful breakfast. They even had some boxed up and waiting for us when we left the hotel at 5 in the morning one day. 4) Very nice rooms, and ABSOLUTELY THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED we slept on during our trip, and maybe in our lives. 5) Our room had a nice ipod dock and music playing when we arrived. Seems like a little thing, but it was very nice. There were also lots of interesting books in the room for us to read. Con: 1) Location- it's on the far side of the river and a bit of a drive to down town. Most tuk-tuks would accept 100 baht ($3 USD), which is no big deal, but a lot of drivers didn't now the hotel when you asked them to take you there. 2) Exercise room left a little to be desired.

Absolute perfection!”
137 pillars house is an absolute gem! although outside the old town, this is actually a benefit because you are able to escape the noise and tourist hordes. the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, from the original "pillars house" that is now the restaurant and other public rooms to the suites. the tranquil garden grounds are a welcome respite. the rooms (in my case raja brooke suite) are absolute perfection. thy are gorgeous, large (with three separate areas - bedroom, large dressing room, bathroom area) and they have thought of absolutely every detail. the decor is perfect, everything is comfortable, the bathroom is like a spa with huge claw-foot tub, marble indoor shower and outdoor shower in a garden-like setting. the pool with its 'green wall' is stunning (if a little cool because it doesn't get that much direct light). each suite has a beautiful outdoor terrace from where you can hear the piano player in the pillars house lounge every evening. the breakfast buffet is the best i saw in thailand and the dinner i ordered to my room was one evening was excellent. what makes this hotel a true gem, however, is the staff. they are wonderful, friendly, attentive and know what you need before you do. i found that even some very nice hotels in thailand had kind of clueless staff but at this hotel, they were perfect! my only wish is that i could have stayed longer!

Inspiring hideaway with prime location”
It was a short three night stay at this fantastic boutique hotel and from the very arrival we felt the service will not disappoint us. We were staying on the first floor overlooking the lawn and the swimming pool, as well as the famous 137 Pillars House where in the evening, charming piano music was spilling out and reaching us at the veranda. The suites are spacious with large walk-in closet combined with a gorgeous bathroom with a free standing bathtub and a choice of in-door and outdoor shower. We loved the iPod dock with an iPod mini plugged into a Yamaha hi-fi with great selection of ambient music. Pool gives enough room for doing few laps and overall serene atmosphere is further enhanced by a stunning green wall. Breakfast buffet was a delicious treat although, we could never have enough fresh, local, tropical fruit. Freshly made to order eggs as you like them and waffles were a sweet consolation. Coconut yoghurts and traditional Thai coconut desserts wrapped in pandan/banana leaves are a must try! At one of the two restaurants, we tried some of the recommended dishes from the Thai selection for dinner on the first night and found all the dishes very flavorful. With only 30 carefully restored suites the hotel is an absolute gem when it comes to privacy…BUT a boutique hotel targeting Guests seeking for a unique hotel experience and paying extra premium for just that should not be allowing families with kids under certain age. Our stay was somewhat spoiled by the young couple blissfully ignorant of other people, with a one-year old toddler. Having said that, we would love to return to 137 Pillars for a longer stay to linger longer, hopefully with no crying babies around this time!

Spacious room with nice interior”
We are truly satisfied with our stay at 137 Pillars House. The room that we stayed in is Rajah Brooke Suite type which is big enough for two people. The bathroom are equipped with bathtubs, indoor and outdoor showers, two sinks as well as Panpuri amenities. The breakfast provided at the hotel is very delicious. You can choose from Western-style to Thai-style breakfast menu, and there's also small buffet line offered. 137 Pillars House will definitely be the top of my list on my next trip to Chiang Mai.
