“Stargazing, snorkelling, fishing”
Stayed at a resort on Juara Beach, which is much less crowded than Tekek. The beach is clean, the sea is calm, and you can wake up to watch the sunrise right from your chalet. There’s a huge resort nearby, but honestly I preferred this one much more. It has a beautiful garden, only a small number of chalet-style rooms, excellent food, and a dark, quiet beach at night with hardly any crowds. The resort restaurant is great, though more expensive than the nearby eateries. The chef really knows how to prepare seafood, so definitely ask about the fresh catch of the day. There are also plenty of activities that can be arranged by the hotel: snorkelling trips (I saw two sea turtles and countless schools of fish), sea fishing (my first time fishing and I caught two groupers!), stargazing on the dark beach at night where I could even see the Milky Way, watching the sunrise from my bed simply by opening the curtains, or just sitting by the beach and zoning out. There’s also a nearby shop where you can rent a motorcycle, or you can simply take a leisurely walk around the village. To be fair, the resort is definitely not cheap. It is also relatively old compared with some of the newer resorts in the area, so the facilities are a little dated. The shower only had lukewarm water during my stay, and the ice cream seemed to have melted and been refrozen. That said, the property is exceptionally well maintained. The garden is beautiful, and the resort doesn’t seem designed to maximise guest numbers. The chalets are spaced quite far apart, which gives you a real sense of privacy and tranquillity. I could hear the power generator noise mentioned in other reviews in one morning only, and owner said its neighbour promised not to turn on at night. A very annoying neighbour i have to say, very noisy, very bright even at night, and very bad but expensive food. Love this place, will come again!
