1 Person in 6-Bed Dormitory - Mixed
Stayed 2 nights in January 2017
I can't recommend any Hostel right now, I've lost too much sleep at them.”
There is such a thing as a good nights sleep in a Hostel, it's just not up to the Hostel or you whether that happens, it's upon to luck and circumstances. If you have a group of friends that book a room together, maybe, but the random group I experienced at 2A was among the worst in my travels.
Below me was very large person who could barely breath all night, I think it was a combination of sleep apnea and intense snoring, mixed with being sick perhaps?! Not sure but it was like listening to a pathetic animal slowly drowning in a tar pit.
There were guys coming in and out of the room at 2am, 3am, and even 4a, casually moving things around, settling in, as if it was 10pm at night.
The 2A Hostel is directly next to a train station, you can hear the S line trains until they stop running at night, and immediately as they begin in the morning, and I imagine this is even more pronounce when it is warmer and the windows are more open.
The facility was fine, the staff was nice and helpful, but the WIFI was crappy, and that's a big issue. It became completely useless once everyone was in the building for the night, so yes it's free WIFI, but it's worthless most of the time you are there.
Not a bad Hostel, not a bad price, but I got a lousy experience and that's the way Hostels work, you aren't paying for privacy or sleep, you are paying for a chance, like a lottery ticket, that you might win some sleep, but more often than not, just as with the lottery tickets, you lose on these places.
