Good Location, Great Value, Charming Building ”

The hotel is located in the centre of Phuket town and there are restaurants, bars and cafes within 10 minutes walk from it. There's also ATMs nearby. If you want to get to the main beach Patong affordably, take the mini bus which is only 35 Baht! It takes about 45 minutes. The bus pick-up point is about 15 minutes walk away, not bad. The drawback is that the service ends at 5pm I think. Taking a tuk-tuk back to Phuket town in the evening will cost about 600 Baht. Plus side is its faster to get to the airport compared to staying at Patong hotels. Phuket town is definitely quieter than the beaches but it has its own charm, with well-restored old town shophouses used for all kinds of purposes like restaurants and hotels. 99 oldtown guesthouse is in one of those buildings. If you're looking to have a unique stay in a good value place with character, I would recommend it. It's a charming hotel, the couple who own it are really friendly and helpful and the room I stayed at --a single--was cosy, well-maintained, clean, with daily housekeeping. The teak flooring is quite creaky though, but the decor and ambience is really one of a kind. Overall-- a great stay.

Short stop in Phuket Town before the beaches”

Clean, lovely design and close to public buses

Great value for money. Would recommend for those wanting to explore and who are happy to travel to various beaches and ports around Phuket. Hotel has a boutique design and roomy feel. Lovely dark timber floors throughout room, though these were at the mercy of echoes and heavy or heeled pedestrians from the room/s above. 99 is clean and safe - the staff/owners try to assist as much as possible with directions, excursion bookings and any other queries. Included breakfast was simple/light (toast, tea/coffee, bananas); pricing for excursions is on par with local agents and quality of tour is good, so go with them to save wandering about in the sun. Room included bottled drinking water and toiletries. Tea/coffee was available for free during the day in the common dining area. The hotel is close to schools, markets and local shops with reasonable and visible pricing on food and other items. It was refreshing not to be accosted as often as in regular tourist areas. It is a 5 minute walk to the public bus 'station', which offers rides to Kata, Karon and Patong beaches for 35 THB pp. You can base yourself at this hotel if you're not set on being beach-side. TRANSPORT TIP: to put this into perspective, a bus to Kata beach is 35 THB pp, so 70 THB for a couple, and a clean run takes about 35-40 minutes. A taxi to Kata beach is about 400 THB. Note though, that buses do run to a schedule but often a driver will try to pick up as many passengers on their trip, so can take much longer; and last buses run at around 4pm. FYI - A taxi from the airport to 99 Oldtown should be no more than the published charter rate of 550 THB (read the blue posters with rates), but be aware that there are also meter taxis, airport vans and an airport bus that can take you to the hotel. These may be cheaper but I'm not able to comment on them.

Lovely Hotel on Central Street of Phuket Twon”

            Design, Owner, Location

The building is beautiful, the family run Boutique Guesthouse offers all the necessary comfort! The Restoration of the building has been done very carefully, high level of attention to detail, great materials, minimal sophisticated and still warm and homey. The rooms are rather small but offer beautiful, super clean interior and great bathrooms. Just amazing. Probably the best is the extremely friendly and helpful couple who runs the guesthouse. Without even asking the owners offered to help us with the next days transport and assisted us perfectly with directions and choices of Phuket Town places to visit. The Hotel is located in the best street of Phuket town, close to bars and restaurants. I strongly recommend to visit the China Inn Restaurant a little further up the street. Also great fabric shopping along the road. Beautiful Stay, always again!

            location; staff; design

I love Phuket Town and I absolutely loved 99 Oldtown Guesthouse. The room was tiny (you are warned!) but the bathroom was big and very clean (with nice design). The hotel is absolutely stunning, cute and exactly what I hoped it would be. Staff was extremely helpful; I would highly recommend this hotel.

            A gem in Phuket”

            1) Staff were friendly and helpful 2) Loved the room 3) Very value for money

Stayed at 99Oldtown Boutique Guesthouse for 3 nights, and we loved it! We loved its location - It was located in Thalang Road, where all the other shophouses were very pretty/interesting looking. There were really quaint cafes along Thalang Road as well, just a couple of minutes walk from the guesthouse. There was even a market one along this road on of the nights we were here, with lots of interesting street food and local performances. It's a welcomed change from being at the busy beaches at Patong/Kata/Karon. The room was great, I feel that pictures don't do the room justice. The bed was comfy. Downside is that the room isn't very soundproof, so you can hear people walking along the corridor. It's truly a gem and we got so much more than we paid for. Would definitely (a 1000%) stay at this very place the next time we are in Phuket Town

            Incredible stay in Oldtown”

Location is on point, Talang Rd is a beautiful ancient housing street with nice cafe and restaurants. Just a short distance to the bus station in Oldtown, where you could reach most of the beaches in Phuket. The owners were an old and very sweet couple, they are so caring in a way that you feel like they are a member of family, not that kind of people doing services. Because the guest house is simply furnished, so prepare to bring your own hair dryer and look up what you need to use during your stay before you come here. We arrived early and our room was already prepared well and clean. The balcony is shared with neighbor room, but its fine and its so pretty to experience the life in daylight and nightime of this small town. Do not think it is a hotel, the pace and the atmostphere is more like home, so the staff would not be professional as some people would hope in those top resorts, but they are so caring, hospitable and will support you when you ask. When we check out early in the morning because of our flight, the owners prepared our breakfast at 6.30 am (we were surprised) and a taxi to the airport as we requested a day before. I would love to come back to this place. The only downside is the thin wall, we could hear people jumping and walking upstairs, on the upper floor and outside the hallway, but we still feel very secluded in our room. We enjoyed our stay to the fullest.

Right in 'Old Town' 2 mins from day/night market. Great value for money

Spent 7 nights @ Old Town Bootique whilst using Phuket Town as centre location to visit many of the beaches around the island. This turned out to be a top idea as it was our 1st time in Te area. Walk east up Thalang Road and there is a cut through ( opposite i46 cafe) leading to the market, which doubles up as a bus stop so you can get to any of the beaches on the isle. Our favourites were Nai Han, kata & Kamala. Guesthouse was clean with friendly staff, comfy bed, good shower, overall awesome base.. Got lots of sleep 5/5 for food given due to location, opposite 2 excellent Roti Houses: Abdul's & Aroon's. no restaurant at guesthouse and basic breakfast which was free and not offered anyway

A lovely old Hotel of yesteryear”

            Location Price comfort

I arrived at this lovely old hotel quite late but the owner was there to welcome me. The hotel is in one of the must visit streets in Phuket town. The architecture is lovely and at night the buildings are illuminated. The hotel itself is beautiful inside. The lovely timber floors and clean and fresh décor with the coloured glass make for a really peaceful and calming place. The room is quite small but for myself it was ample. The bed is huge and comfortable and again the room was a nice place to be. I had a front room with a balcony which I had to change from because of the noise from the street but I am a light sleeper. A simple breakfast is supplied which is toast , bananas tea and coffee. When I checked out I was given a T shirt from the hotel and I was driven to the Bus station. All in all I had a great experience here and would return to Phuket just to stay at this hotel. You won't be dissapointed.

Classic charming decor. Beautiful dark wooden furniture. Secure access. Friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed here because we needed to get the ferry to the islands in the early morning. It was conveniently located in Phuket old town. The street is relatively arty, with a range of art galleries, boutique coffee shops and authentic Thai eateries. The hotel staff organised our ferry and transfer as soon as we arrived. Nearby travel agents were offering the same trip for the same price. The place clean, pretty, quiet and very very well priced. There are no safety deposit boxes in the room.

If you love supporting small, family-owned businesses, opening your eyes to the magic of Old Phuket Town, being summoned to the streets by the sensory paradise that is the Sunday evening Night Market, free breakfast, reliable Wifi, and a comfy, romantic bed? Look no further. I found this place at the last minute after realizing that I forgot to book a hotel during one of my nights in Phuket. I so wish I stayed here longer and if I could go back in time, I would have booked my entire stay here! I so look forward to returning to Old Phuket Town and calling this quaint and magical place home again <3

This was a beautifully renovated old building, filled with character. It was easy walking distance to Phuket Town highlights. It clean and had good amenities for a budget hotel

            Great little hotel!”

            Staff, Design, Location

This is a great little hotel. It's right in the center of Phuket Town. The staff was wonderful and my stay was perfect. The woman, who I assume owns the hotel, was so wonderful. It felt more like I was a guest in her home than a guest at a hotel. When I left, she walked me out to the front door and waited and waved goodbye. The room was comfortable and clean and looks like it was recently completely redecorated. There was wifi that worked perfectly and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was also large and looked like it had recently been re-done. The design of the hotel is cool too. The only negative is that the walls are a little thin so I could hear people walking around in the room above us.

            Excellent”

Location on main beautiful road of Phuket town. House is very beautiful, everything is old but in good shape. Beautiful slice of the lovely Portuguese architecture. Although walls between the rooms are made of wood, sound doesn't carry as much as I expected. Bed very comfortable, very quaint beautiful rooms. Our room had a fridge, balcony, and air condition. Bed was soft enough for south east asia standards. Shower was nice even though hot water can be hard to regulate. There were free breakfasts near a nice koi pond. Breakfast is basic and free, egg/bread/jam/butter/instant coffee. To me, it was the best part of my stay as it was the most authentic taste of the old town.

            Great Location

I really liked this Guesthouse. They were friendly, the building itself is a lovely old style house bang smack in the middle of Phuket Town. The stairs up are somewhat precarious, but the staff were happy to take my bag which helped. The bathrooms are newly redone with your choice of rainfall shower (cold water) or a normal showerhead run through the hot water system. All in all we had a great stay. Breakfast was nothing special, but with lots of lovely cafes and local restaurants around that didn't trouble us too much.

            Great Value for Money”

The location in Phuket Town is quite perfect for getting away from the craziness of the beach scene. It's still a generally touristy area, but it's much quieter here. Besides, there are the beach buses that ply the roads regularly. The actual lodging is a great little place, situated in one of those old peranakan shophouses. The room(s) I stayed in were fairly sized, with a comfortable bed, strong aircon, clean toilet, and good internet connection. I did not interact much with the FOH aside from laundry - but that was fine, because I enjoyed keeping to myself. For what I paid, it was a great place to stay.

            Great value in Phuket Town”

Very affordable, close to Rassada pier, super comfy beds!

We only stayed for about 12 hours overnight, but this affordable boutique hotel/hostel (a bit nicer than a hostel though) was exactly what we needed. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear others moving around at times, but the very comfortable beds still provided us with the best sleep we've had in months. The couple who own it are helpful and arranged a 200 Baht taxi to the pier for early the next morning to catch our boat to Koh Lanta. They offer a simple toast and coffee type of breakfast in the mornings, but it's sufficient for those who are going to eat and run like we did. Overall, I definitely recommend this hotel for those looking to stay In Phuket Town or those who need to catch an early morning speedboat or ferry!

            1. Location 2. Very friendly and helpful owners 3. Free coffee & tea all day!

We didn't have a hard time looking for this guesthouse because the strip had numbers that's why we easily spotted and we now know why it's numbered 99. The owners were very friendly, they helped us rent a motorbike for the day at a very cheap rate: 200baht for 24hours! :) We asked them some restaurants they would recommend with the best Thai food and the wife gave us a map where she encircled and gave directions on how to get there. True enough her recommendations were excellent! Across the guesthouse is an array of thrift stores considered as their Chinatown where you can get cheap souvenirs. They close early though, 5pm the latest. :(
