      This is a budget hotel!”

Great breakfast on the rooftop with some good views. Single rooms are big with t.v. , A/C, big bed, but lacking other furniture. The location is terrible if you plan on walking anywhere. There is nothing around but a huge and dirty market! However, they rent motorbikes, which I did, making my stay comfortable. The place is cozy and quiet in the evening and night, but the surrounding market is really busy the rest of the time. Overall, great value for the money!!!

      Fantastic! ”

Friendly staffs - nice rooms and good food

I really enjoy staying at AD1 hotel. Staffs are excellent. They take good care of guests. Note: 1. The airport is just in the middle of no where. To access to town, it takes 45 mins to 1 hour. If you take a taxi for yourselves, the cost will be 20 USD but if you choose sharing taxi, you only have to pay 4 USD. 2. For people who use complimentary bus of Air Asia, from the bus stop at street 79 to hotel should be maximum 1 USD (may be less if you bargain a bit ) 3. Hotel offers tours, buses to other provinces. They have 1 day tour to 3 cities ( Sagaing; Old Ava and to U bein bridge - Amarapura) which cost 18 USD ( big bus; free lunch and guide ). I think this is a great deal better than hire motor cycle with the cost 20 USD per day. This price does not include shopping fee; entrance fee to some museums; horse cart or boat ride. 4. If you rent bicycle, cost will be 1,5 USD. It would take 45 mins to drive to U bein bridge.

Great value if you want private bathroom ”

One of the few places with private bathroom for less than 10$. I got a big room with doublebed for my self. Huge breakfast at the roof terrace. A few blocks from the main backpacker area. Quite area, but nextdoor to a famous pagoda and market, which could wake you up in the morning. You need earplugs everywhere in Myanmar. Nice teas hop with good food up on main road. They, as many others let me park my bike inside for the night. Host and stuff very friendly. Can only recommend.

I would call this a budget guesthouse because if you stay more than one day there is no maid service. Overall good value for Mandalay budget accommodations. Found it to be the cheapest amongst all. Still, not a reason to suck so badly. The room has a weird smell, the toilet is like a dungeon. The whole room smells! The Aircon is there but staff informed it doesn't work. Towels dont absorb water. One plus point. I was too tired and almost missed breakfast, the staff knocked on my door to wake me up for breakfast. Breakfast was decent as well.

Great breakfast but bad location for other meals”

Breakfast, Cheap (Get what you pay for though...)

I also stayed here in Feb 2014 and the reason I stayed again was b/c I had the card/knew where it was + I knew they have a great breakfast here. The room was obviously basic for the price, it was clean and they serve a great breakfast on the roof. Actually, it was the best breakfast I had at guesthouses in Myanmar on all my trips because besides the usual toast (with butter/jam) and an egg, it also came with different fruits and either rice with chickpeas mixed in or noodles plus coffee or tea. However, the Internet could be very slow (when it worked) and there were blackouts (last year) albeit the generator kicked on rather quickly. My big complaint is that the area the hotel is located in is really a wasteland for food if you are a tourist who wants to avoid the risk of any bad food issues as the nearest places “safe” to eat are on the same road on the other side of the street as the train station. It’s a long walk to go to this area just to eat (albeit there are cabs or motorbike people on major street corners willing to take you around) and I ended up eating at Mandalay Donut (not particularly great pan-Asian food like fried rice but safe to eat) plus there are some supermarkets in this area and an Oceans Hypermart + Season’s Bakery in a big shopping complex. Otherwise, the staff’s English abilities are just fine if you are a native English speaker and they can arrange taxis to the airport (Note: The international airport will take roughly an hour to get to via the Air Asia shuttle if there are not alot of pickups to do), bus tickets and the like. Finally, I don’t advise changing money with reception unless you absolutely need some Kyats as in Feb 2014, they gave me 9,500 Kyats for a US$10 bill while a bank gave me closer to 9,850 Kyats or whatever the actual exchange rate is. It’s just a bank will make you fill out a ridiculous amount of paperwork just to change even one single US$10 bill.

Nice hotel, but not the location”

      spacious room, good staff, wifi

The hotel was a relatively nice hotel. The room was good and spacious. Basic amenities were adequate. the beds were comfortable and the blanket were thick enough for the cold night. However, there were no hot water in the bathroom.. so I had to settle taking shower with cold water.. not so nice, especially in the morning when it was quite chilly. The hotel's location was also not very convenient. It was situated next to a very busy wet market in the morning, causing a bad traffic jam around the area. However, if you really like to explore the wet market on the foot, this hotel is perfect for you. The busy wet market continues until evening and at night the area looked and felt like ghost town. It was dark, not many bright street light and since most shops were already closed, it felt deserted. Solo woman traveler might want to skip this place, unless you are planning to stay in the room from 8.00 pm until the next morning. The hotel was also very close to a pagoda that keep playing chanting all night long.

      Helpful staff”

      staff, breakfast, price

When I arrived at around 5AM, they allowed me to check in straight away, which was great. The breakfast on the rooftop is a lovely way to start the day. The basic room I booked had one big bed and its own small bathroom. The water wasn't always hot but it didn't bother me. The WIFI was slow, but that's pretty standard for Myanmar. There's a cybercafe just a couple of doors away. The staff was very helpful on different occasions (they can book the slow boat to Bagan for you and offer laundry). You are far away from the main touristic area in Mandalay itself, but if you're not afraid to walk, it's alright, and the motorbike-taxis are not very expensive.

Cheap, clean, early check in after the over night bus

This place is VERY basic but spotless and entirely adequate. There are zero bells and whistles but you aren't paying for any. It's a long walk but you could walk to Mandalay Palace and it is a short scooter ride away from restaurants and the moustache brothers. I would top rate it as a budget option. Also the staff are very helpful in arranging whatever you need with a small board in the lobby jam packed with options and prices.

I had a standard single room for two nights. A bit noisy in the morning due to a nearby pagoda (around 6:00am). Huge Breakfast, Comfortable Beds, Quiet

Located right beside the market, the smells of the market kind of permeate into the hotel. The room itself was basic. No tv. Wifi was super slow. Beds were ok. Bathrooms were clean. It was a quiet hotel though. Not noisy at all. Breakfast was huge! So much fruit, which I loved. And their breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace. The hotel can also book tours, transportation tickets and they do laundry and bike rentals. It was a decent place to stay for Myanmar standards.

Breakfast, tucked away local, family owners

The rooms were standard for Myanmar hostels. But the breakfast was the best I had the entire trip. Can find slightly cheaper rooms closer to the city center. but ít's out of the way location is only 15 minute walk from the center, and it's the only hostel in the area, so you feel closer to the locals.

      Breakfast, the produce market., price

The standard of accommodation was the worst I stayed in in burma but I was glad I stayed there because the hotel was located in the middle of the streets which acted as Mandalay's produce market. To say this was picturesque would be an understatement. The breakfast was the best in Burma. Two pagodas nearby play loud chanting from 05:00 daily and until 01:30 on one evening so I nicknamed this Hotel Insomnia.
