Good central Athens location ”

Stayed in room # 45. The room is quiet and clean. The room has a working and quiet A/C. Complimentary water and breakfast was much appreciated to start the long days of exploring Athens. Also, appreciated the extra pillows and the amenities in the room for each of the 3 guests in the triple room. Rooftop bar has a nice view of the Acropolis. The rooftop bar was often full of customers in the evening, so it was hard for us to come up to the rooftop to enjoy the view. The lighting in the bathroom was very dim and the room has a window without a view. Good location to many restaurants, souvenir shops, Ancient Agora, Hadrian’s library and the metro. Cleaning staff was helpful with supplying us with what we needed to make our stay comfortable.

Great Breakfast, Location, and Rooftop Bar”

Loved my experience at A for Athens. We booked this place based off the stellar reviews, and they were not wrong. The key highlights are the breakfast rooftop buffet, the friendly staff, and the clean rooms. And the location is absolutely perfect, with all of the main sightseeing destinations within walking distance. Another amazing thing is that hotel guests get first access to tables on the rooftop for sunset/evening drinks, which was a great perk for us. There's truly no better view to enjoy the sunset with a drink in hand. You won't find the type of amenities of 5-star resorts here, but that's not what you should expect from this place. The allure here is mostly for the value, location, cleanliness, breakfast, and rooftop bar. If you're looking for a resort-type experience with great amenities, I would advise going somewhere else. But if you want to maximize sightseeing and you enjoy breakfast and happy hour drinks, this is definitely one of the best places in Athens.

Central location ideal for first visit to Athens - but noisy”

The location of this hotel cannot be beat if you're on your first visit to Athens as you can reach most key sites on foot if you're relatively fit - the Acropolis is about a 30-walk stroll uphill. You're right beside Monastiraki Square, so it's buzzy, central, and you can stay out late easily. The view from the restaurant is great but outside of breakfast hours, it's just way too crowded - make a reservation or just skip it; I didn't even bother getting my two free welcome drinks as the wait staff looked so harassed when I stepped in on my first afternoon after lunch - even then, the place was still packed. The central location of this hotel though means it's noisy on the weekends as there are bars and clubs around; the weekend was bad. I had a room beside the street and there were people partying till 4-5am on the Sunday I was there in April. Ear plugs are available in the room. Love it for my first visit to Athens, but I'll choose a calmer place next time!

Exceptional”

The hotel offers no-frills, modern, and clean accommodation. This is my third time to stay at this hotel. Its location is perfect. The Metro connects the airport directly to the hotel. A for Athens faces the Monastiraki Square, gateway to the great Plaka district with its shops and restaurants. Behind the hotel is the Pssiri area with its wonderful tavernas. It is walking distance to the Syntagma Square and the National Archaeological Museum. Complimentary breakfast is served at the hotel's rooftop venue with a sweeping view of the Parthenon. Best of all, I most appreciate its helpful front desk staff Vangelis and Yanni whom I met in 2017, during my first stay at the hotel.

View and location cannot be beat!”

Overlooking the Monastiraki Square with the Acropolis looming in the background, the location of this hotel is by far the best we saw (we were in Athens a few days earlier and had walked into 3-4 hotels around the Acropolis to find "the perfect" hotel to stay at for our anniversary). Try and get the rooms overlooking the square so you can enjoy the rooms as much as the bustling city outside. Music and traffic continues late into the wee hours of the morning, so be prepared to pay the price for staying in the heart of town!

Hidden gem”

What a lovely hotel. We booked it after reading other reviews and we were not disappointed. Located right opposite the Monastiraki square, we could walk to Syntagma square easily or walk to the Agoras. Flea market is right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely with some Greek dishes which we enjoyed. The staff were all helpful. Our rooms were spacious with a gorgeous bathroom. Towels were changed daily and we got 4 free bottles of water per day. The lift was a little too small but not too busy so we could manage it. If I go back to Athens I will stay here again.

The hotel is located just across from Monastiraki Train Station. it is very convenient should you wish to travel from the airport / ferry terminal and vice versa. The check-in staff were all very helpful with our questions. Kudos to them! It is recommended to anyone who is considering to stay in Athens. Great location, comfortable stay”

Hotel was just next to Monastiraki Square and the train station, so convenient. We booked a 2D1N tour out of Athens and we were allowed to keep our luggage in store at the hotel. When we came back, they gave us an upgrade to a room facing the Acropolis. Fantastic! For 2 mornings, we missed breakfast as we had to catch an early pick-up and flight, the hotel prepared breakfast boxes for us. Happy!

Surpassed my expectations!”

Located just 2 mins away from Monastiraki station, the hotel is right in the centre of all the action. Breakfast was really yummy (esp. the chocolate croissants!) and we enjoyed the Acropolis view! There were people waiting for entry to the rooftop bar but I believe priority is given to hotel guests, so we had the privilege to watch the Acropolis light up while the sun set. Room was clean, modern and really spacious and I felt very comfortable! If I were to go back to Athens again, this would still be my first choice of hotel!

Hotel's location is great. Take the metro from Airport to Monastiraki, and the hotel just walk from 1 mins. Sytagma Square and Acropolis of Athens can be reached by foot. Also, the Acroplois view is nice from their rooftop restaurant is. Free mini bar and welcome drink is extra bonus. Recommend to stay in A for Athens .

Fantastic location! Great staff! Clean room.”

Fantastic location! The view from the rooftop phenomenal! Very close proximity to all the major spots in Athens (e.g., Plaka, Acropolis). You can see the Parthenon straight ahead from the rooftop! Beautiful! We even managed to see all the New Year’s fireworks over the Acropolis simply by walking out of the hotel, turning around the corner and standing on the sidewalk. Lunch on 01/01/19 on the rooftop was great and included even less common Greek dishes (e.g., skioufihta from Crete). The staff offered us one free drink per person. Wonderful gesture. Plenty of Greek wine options on the menu. Breakfast was good (neither exceptional, nor bad). Didn’t use the gym. Would have been nice to have parking (hence the 4 stars under facilities), but I certainly understand this is very difficult in central Athens. The room was clean and modern. The coffee machine was great and water and juice from the mini fridge were free! Booked one room with double bed and two fold out beds (family).

Excellent hotel”

Location was perfect, room was spacious, bed was comfortable

This is a perfect hotel for us. We only needed 1 night stay in Athens as our priority in Greece was the islands. We were looking for something that is near the train station, so that we can walk to the train station to catch our 6am train to airport. This hotel has the perfect location. The train station for trains going to the airport was not just one street away, it was also 10-15 minutes walk from the Ermou shopping street. Room was very spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The also had a great bar at the roof top with superb view. Good for day and night. Small lift in the hotel doesn't affect our stay at all. Awesome hotel.

Excellent Location”

1) Location - Proximity to train and historical site, and shopping. 2) Magnificent view of Acropolis, especially at night 3) Friendly Staff

Returned from Santorini and stayed at A for Athens for one night before one flight back home. Excellent location, closed proximity to metro, historical site and main shopping belt. we got allocated a room with a magnificent view of the Acropolis! thanks to the friendly hotel staff. at the top is a restaurant/bar, which provides an excellent view of the Acropolis. Typical of such good location hotel, is the noise. There are street music at the Monastriki Square, but they stopped before 10:30pm, I think. the room itself is spacious and comfortable bed, with complimentary small bottle of greek wine. The room is built with a stove and washing point, thought we could do some light cooking, but we are not suppose to. Good food easily accessible around the hotel, so that was not a problem at all for us.

A for Athens hotel is very well located in the main center of Athens. It has the most amazing view of the Acropolis. The restaurant at the top floor is excellent to relax after a day of sightseeing. Also, within walking distance we were able to access a great variety of restaurants with live music which our kids loved. Breakfast is sufficient for the few days anybody will spent. We did get a great value for our money.

The hotel is centrally located. Literally right behind a metro stop that will take you anywhere you need/want to go. The staff is great (except one guy). I did not get their names, but all but one was extremely helpful. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace is amazing. The room was huge and the shower/bathroom facilities are great too. Wifi is good, but annoying that you have to sign in so much. I would definitely stay at A for Athens if I were to visit Athens again.

Great locatation with superb view of Acropolis. The hotel is right at Monastiraki Square whichin the evening becames very noisy as the drums are playing. Every night!! They finish around 10.00-10.30 pm. Breakfast is served on the 6th floor with amazing view of Athens, very popular with locals for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening as becames a nightclub. We had a problem with wifi at first, it was repaired but works on and off.Lots of nice restaurants close by with good greek food. Very convenient located to public transport(just acroos the square) which we use to get to the aiport. Airport train runs every 30 minutes - blue line - for a cost of 8.00 euros. And The Poet Sandal Maker shop is just around the corner - the best handmade sandals in Greece!!!

Most impressive thing in my trip”

If you are looking for the best experience in Athens, I recommend this hotel for you. I've been on many rooftops in Athens. In my opinion, A for Athens has the best viewpoint of Acropolis both in the morning and night. Including with the nice services, the location that make you easy reaching to the central of transportation, you will definitely miss this hotel after you leave.

Superb Small Hotel in the Heart of Athens”

This hotel is perfect for those seeking a genuine Athens experience. The neighborhood is congested and noisy at times but the renovators of this place did a great job with soundproofing. The views from the upper floors and roof top terrace are unbeatable if you care about important historical sites. There it is: The Acropolis. We stayed in the Blue Suite on the fifth floor, a roomy, comfortable accommodation. Although the building is old, the interior is very modern. Do not rent a car and drive here. The streets are extremely narrow and parking space is obviously rare. The metro station is directly across the street. Please be very careful with your possessions. We were victims of pickpockets on the metro. One other negative is the overwhelming graffiti everywhere. It is ugly and detracts from the charm of the neighborhood. Fortunately the archaeological sites, which are in abundance nearby, are protected from the defacers.

A For Athens - excellent option”

Loaction, breakfast and standard of rooms

I really enjoyed staying at A For Athens and elected to spend the little bit extra to stay there again when I returned to Athens for my last night in Greece. The beds were very comfy, great shower, and the rooms are nice and clean. I'd recommend paying the extra for an Acropolis view room - amazing view to wake up and fall asleep to! The only downside of the hotel is the proximity to Monistiraki Square, which is very convenient but also very noisy at night, but not enough of an issue to deter me from going back. Awesome roof top bar is worth a visit too.
