Fantastic. A Villa de Mer Guest House is not an ordinary guest house. The personnel treat you like family and the breakfasts are great. The rooms are also very comfortable and well maintained. We will be back next year and will not stay anywhere else in Port Alfred.

I have stayed at this guest house a few times and I have to say everytime it is a wonderful experience. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent.

The guesthouse is close to the beachfront. Staffs are lovely. The food is really nice. A really nice stay there. Thank you for the hospitality and everything. Will definitely return sometime.

Stayed at the lodge before and the breakfasts are excellent. They have a wide variety of foods to cater for your individual needs. The room and bathroom was a bit smaller than previous. The only downfall was that it was extremely hot and the rooms do not have air-conditioning.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of accommodation at such reasonable rates. The food was great (considering my special dietary requirements). It was well presented and tasty. The room was large, neat and clean. Lots of other positives as well. Only negatives were that the Wifi available was not too fast and there was stairs between the bathroom and bedroom.

It was a good stay as always. The food quality was not as great as my previous stays and I did see the cooking assistants licking a knife which put me off a little. But overall a lovely establishment, large spacious room, neat and tidy.

Staff excellent - manager/owner not so much”

The hotel is lovely and nicely appointed by the sea - but this was the worst welcome we had in any hotel in the whole of our three week holiday in South Africa. There was no one to help with bags (or any offer made) and the lady who greeted us was cold and unhelpful. However her staff were excellent.

It was a pleasant stay. Checking in and out was breeze. There was a slight issue with the number of guests they had catered for when it came to our booking, but it was quickly sorted out at the front desk upon check-in. The room was clean and tidy. 5-minute walk to the beach made for a great activity too 😀
