Wish we could stay longer”
Aajam is about a two-minute walk from the corner of Soi Laos. From the bus station or railway station, one can hire a tuktuk for about 30-50 baht per person. But if you're so inclined to walk, which we did, you can do so. We also walked toward Aajam from the Bridge over the River Kwai after a romantic dinner at one of the floating restaurants close to the bridge. Hot shower and wifi are available, and the bed is comfortable. There's ample parking for out of towners, and the garden adds beauty to the tranquil environment. The owners were on hand when we checked in, and they gladly assisted us in going to the Hellfire Pass and Museum. On the way back, we took the train from Nam Tok to River Kwai station across the viaduct and the bridge. It was a memorable journey. One of the nicest memories we have of our stay was our late-night chat over tea with the owner, until such time the biting cold forced us to call it a night. Breakfast of toast, coffee, eggs, and sausages the next day at the floating dining area was free as we had the suite. The river is beautiful at night and relaxing by day. Too bad we only booked for one night.
Great Value for Money”
I stayed at Aajam because of the closeness to the Kwae River Bridge and easy access north to other historical places. I found the river front rooms to be more than adequate for me as a solo traveler, and I also had the opportunity to see some recently renovated family rooms. These were done quite nicely done and I'd be happy to stay there again. What you get is simple, good value accommodation with friendly owners.
Very friendly staff, enjoyable stay”
You could not ask for friendlier staff, anything I asked they would always try to help me. Set back from main road which was not great as a lone female who wanted to explore but this was ok as staff were willing to give me a lift. The wifi was not very strong in my room as I was far from Reception but usable. The food was delicious and you can take in the view of River Kwai whilst you eat. I would stay here again just on the basis of the amazing staff! Thank you for making me so welcome
great staff, bad location”
the staff are always smiling and very helpfull. the hotel is located on the banks of the river kwai, 2 kms from the bridge and 3 kms from kanchanaburi. if arriving by train get off at the bridge. the room is very basic, a bed (top sheet too small so i had to use a towel), a stool, a very small table, a great air conditioner, wall hooks and a fan. the door locks with a padlock, which makes it obvious when you're out. the hotel is down a dirt road, off the main road connecting the bridge and kanchanaburi. there are countless chickens and dogs on the dirt road. one night coming home after dark the alpha charged out at me and started to growl, he was immediately joined by several others, all growling at me. i kept walking, avoided eye contact, and they eventually wandered off. however,it was an unpleasant few minutes as i had no idea if they'd actually attack. every morning a time challenged rooster would wake me up between 3 and 4, then be joined by the rest of the roosters for an hour or two of robust noise making. i'd like to be able to recommend this hotel as the staff is so great, but for the price you can get a comparable room closer to or on the main street. it may be as noisy, but there wouldn't be a dog issue. i was there 3 days and never saw anyone in the restaurant, so it may no longer be open.
Basic accommodations at a reasonable price”
The restaurant only serves coffee and toast from 7am to 11am and it is furnished fee with the room. The grounds were beautiful and the views of the river, astounding. Setting in the floating restaurant, you can see "Bridge Over River Kwai" and many attractions are within walking distance. The hotel can arrange for taxi and/or care rental at your request.
Its no 5 star resort but i'd return in a flash”
Great spot unequalled love the place would return anytime owned by an Aussi expat and his wife nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Hotel is quite on the river and has no mozzi's cause the river flows. Rooms are basic but there is everything you need al in all this is a great little hotel
Great location and super friendly service”
It's off the main road so rent a bike for 50 baht a day and you're good for getting around to the bars or markets or the local sites. The price includes parking and cable tv so if you don't need those, better prices can be found at the many many guest houses and retreats in that 2km stretch of Kanchanaburi. Rooms are large and clean, but the quality of the workmanship in rooms is lacking. Staff are super friendly, and the location is located right on the river in a quiet oasis. If you don't rent a bike or have a car or scooter, be prepared to walk 15 minutes to main road and bar section of town. Totally walk able but just faster with bike.
Family-run hotel with excellent view of the Kwai r”
The rooms of one double bed and one single bed was modest yet suificent. With aircon, hot water, it can accomodate to Western families. Can be a little noisy at night as the hotel's wood creaks under pressure and we can often hear the loud party boats passing the river. We ask for a taxi drive one day and the driver was very pleasant and accomodating. The family in general is very friendly and English-speakers.
A weekend away”
We liked this place. It was peaceful and quiet and by the river with views of the Bridge over the River Kwai - which was what we were there for. The rooms were adequate, bathrooms were basic but clean with good hot water. there was complementary toast and coffee/tea for breakfast but otherwise no restaurant or drinks available. However, guests are welcome to bring their own and having a beer sitting by the river looking at the bridge was great.
Great place hidden away”
Tidy place right on the river, far enough away fron the main roads to be very peaceful, but only a cheap tuk tuk ride to the night life. No restaurant, but plenty of dining places nearby. I travelled single, but would be a great place to take a partner. Great staff and owner operator. Very helpful.
Great Time !”
We all had a wonderful time, great location of the river firny friendly staff...rooms where fine...due to to illness the restaurant wasnt open but we were going to dine out anyhow...the free coffee/tea and toast in the morning was nice : ) recommended !!! would stay there again cheers !
Very good”
Good, clean and somewhat basic, but has all you need, TV (no English language though), decent 'fridge, heated shower, wi-fi etc.. Some say beds are hard/firm but I found it quite OK. Breakfast minimal, just coffee and toast/marmalade/jam, no other meals - but plenty of places around for lunch and dinner. Once dusk comes the noisy long-tail boats on the river stop until the morning. Car parking may be tricky in peak-season. Ignore the dog on arrival, he barks and howls, but he's just doing his job, a softy really. Recommended.
the view is superb”
Not really a hotel just rooms to stay. Actually there is no reception there but it's ok. Someone is already there to help you. Rooms are located next to the river so that the view is superb. If you need just for sleeping for a while, this is the one.
Budget Hotel that pleases”
Located next to the river, this simple budget hotel ticks the boxes for people looking for value and who are not too fussy about details. Was able to park my car which was a bonus.
Off the beaten track ”
A little off the main road (a plus for us) free tea/coffee & toast plus a cooked breakfast if requested (extra)... no restaurant but brill one just at top of road and turn right...will do takeaways and you can eat at hotel on the floating area...clean accommodation with friendly staff..
Nice river frontage”
Neat basic accommodation although the beds and lounge were a little hard. Need to provide you with a better top cover for the bed as it was far too small and thin. Enjoyed the meals and watching the traffic cruise up and down the river.
Cheap digs with friendly atmosphere.”
Had two rooms to accomodate the son/daughter and grandchild. Nice quiet off the beaten track but easily accessible. Had car and hired a motorbike so we got around well.
Great location, river front perfect setting.”
Everything was fine we enjoyed our quick night stay for a drive stop off. The toilet flush didn't work in our room so what ever waste we produced we used our friends room further down which worked. When we booked we was happy it was breakfast included as we didn't want to waste time going elsewhere for breakfast. This needs to be taken off as very misleading. We only was offered bread and cheap cheap coffee. I looked around and other guests had arranged on buying thier breakfast out of the accomadation. As for me and my friends we don't eat white bread so we was left very disappointed with no other choice for breakfast but hopefully these can be fixed and it would have a 10/10 from me
Nice riverview hotel”
I hadn't spent much time on hotel, just sleep only. Hotel has nice riverview, lot of parking, not so far to riverkwaw bridge, good wifi and many TV channel. Restaurant was closed the day we stayed due to chef was sick.
Beautiful location - dreadful disco/PA noise”
A beautiful location. Rooms are clean but Spartan. A good straightforward place. It is about 15 mins walk from the tourist strip: a huge advantage – the main problem being the bass boom of discos / PA systems from the tourist area – sometimes I simply could not sit out on the riverfront in the evening; the noise verged on the physically painful. The main town is about 30 mins walk and as hectic, hot, ugly and chaotic as any big Thai town. Rent a bike and ride out into the country side: 50 baht per day.
