Booked the Aana for a 3 night stay with my girlfriend and friend, but ended up staying 8 nights. It was just amazing. Its about a 10 minute drive to both of the 2 main areas - White sands and Lonely beach (situated right in bewtween). Dont let the secluded location put you off, motorbikes can be hired for 150 baht a day (3 pounds) and they are a great way to explore the island. The Hotel is in a quiet, secluded location by the river. It is very tropical and it literally comes alive at night (take your mosquitto repelant). Its almost like the sounds of the forest are coming via piped loudspeakers but it is completely real and its just amazing. Rooms, although on the small side are spotless and have nice decor, nice little features and a very handy balcony. Both pools are amazing, in paticular the infinity pool, which has the most fantastic views of the river and mountain. The restaurant is right by the river, such an awesome romantic setting. Dont worry that the hotel is not by the beach. They provide Kayaks which you can use to go to the hotels private little beach which takes about 10 minutes, great fun, and the beach, in my opinion is the best i saw on Koh Chang. The only negatives i can give for this hotel, is the fact they dont provide irons or ironing boards (even though it says they do on the website). And also the laundry service is a complete rip off, DONT USE IT... i used it once and cost me 2000 baht (£40). Second time i need a same dame service so it would have been double that but i thought i would look around the town and see if there were any laundry shops. There is literally one just round the corner from my hotel. They did all my washing and ironed for 80 baht (£2). Seriously !! and the hotel wanted to charge me £80. But enjoy aana, its amazing
This was our 2nd stay at Aana and we were not disappointed. It is a lovely hotel worth the plaudits of other reviewers. After a sumptuous relaxed breakfast by the canal you have a choice of paddling to the private beach or to one of the two pools. Very relaxing hotel in tropical surroundings with good clean simple rooms. We would definitely consider returning for a 3rd time. The only thing that blighted our holiday was the terrible state of the trash in the sea and on the smaller islands south of Koh Chang. In 2 years since we were last here there must have been a huge number of visitors and if Koh Chang/Trat governers do not invest in cleaning up operations the islands will soon resemble koh phi phi and other poorly maintained areas of the kingdom. It is very sad but it did not affect our stay at the hotel.
A very relaxing stay !”
Aana resort is a lovely place to stay, very peaceful and relaxing. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean and well maintained, and the grounds are very pretty. The only fault that we found is that Aana resort is located away from the main shopping area and there are no shops, markets or bars within the immediate vicinity. This problem is easily fixed by renting one of the resorts mopeds or taking a taxi. We were very happy with our stay and would stay there again in the future if we ever return to Koh Chang.
AANA Resort & Spa”
In my opinion AANA resort and spa is just how a hotel should be in SE Asia, using the best of the tropical natural environment and modern conveniences. The deluxe room was comfortable, clean and had a nice view over the hotel grounds/river. The hotel staff were helpful and assisted in arranging a private islands tour via a reliable local company in kai bae. The kayak to the hotels private beach was part of the attraction for us, a little light exercise after a good hearty breakfast. To reassure those who do not want to kayak, the motor boat was always available when we wanted to go to the beach as well. The beach itself is lovely, plenty of beds, white sand and shade for those that want it. One thing to point out was that that the time of year we visited (March) may have been 'jellyfish' season as the sea/river had a number of them swimming around. Hotel pools are nice and clean, with great view from the rooftop pool. We did not try the spa in the hotel but did have a massage at the beach which is considerably cheaper. Overall this is somewhere we would like to return to and will recommend to others.
Always a good experience ”
We stay there every year for a week, we also stay at other koh Chang resorts (to change the beach) We always love AANA, their beds are very comfy, breakfast is great (they change variety of meal choices daily) Location is convenient, this year we also enjoyed kayaking more (laguna and stream connected to was drenched and were able to kayak about 1 kilometer up the stream) Reception and waiters are very kind and always smiling (they all spoke English well) We will defiantly come back
One of the best hotels ever!”
We chose AANA because lots of friends recommended and they have high reputation on any websites. And their service, hotel facilities and room decoration were more than our expectation. You might feel the location is a bit far from entertainment but you can easily access to white sand beach/other beaches on east coast by driving rental bike which will be a great experience. Definitely we would love to come back to AANA when we visit Koh Chang.
Relaxing holidays far from any noise”
The Aana is and remains one of the best resorts on Koh Chang. All suroundings and resort amenities are gorgeous. It's just a natural resort for relaxing. All additional services in the hotel are a bit pricey but actually worth the money. Breakfast buffet with the big choice was highly appreciated. A downside for any TV freaks may be, that the picture on cableTV is not that gorgeous (slightly snowing). However that didn't bother us at all. Very good bed. I loved the balcony with the stunning view on the pool and river.
AANA RESORT IN KOH CHANG”
We liked the hotel very much. It is another case of being thoughtful about environment, design, gardens and beach. The place relaxes you to the core and some days on the beach were simply dreamy. We liked the fact that the restaurant was not overpriced, as it happens in many secluded places. The food was good and people are very pleasant. One goes to the beach on a kayak (fun but slightly laborious), or you can be taken in a motor boat by the staff (only 2-3 minutes). I think the older customers would enjoy pedalos. I am trying to bring my 83-years old mother and am not sure she can handle the boat. Rooms are comfortable and cozy with sweet balconies. I believe they are priced a bit ambitiously (for Thailand), almost like 5-star Amari, in spite the 3-star rating of AANA on different sites. Spa is expensive, unless you use their masseuses on the beach. I have to say that my oil massage on the beach was superb. Internet is B300 ($9) for 100 minutes, which is ridiculously expensive. Internet shops along the villages charge approx $1 an hour. But there is a debate going in the tourist industry about this bizarre pattern. Cheap hotels have free internet access, expensive hotels fleece you senseless. Overall we enjoyed our stay there.
Wow, my stay at Aana was better than anticipated. All the staff, and that includes the gardeners, security and groundsmen were all smiles and made serious effort to make you feel the most important person in the world. The lovely receptionist even came to my rescue when I couldn't start my moped. The accomodation was wonderful, everything I needed to unwind from my mad hectic life in England. I was travelling on my own and choose Aana as my venue to feel safe and recharge. I choose the right place. Aana also organised a wonderful thai cooking course for me. I don't think I have ever been spoilt with so much attention. They gave me the apron, a disc of all the photos, all the recipies and of course a table by the river to eat all my cooking. Just perfect. Aana was so helpful when it came to checking out also. They organised my bag was delivered free of charge to my destination so that I could return my moped. It was so sad to leave but I have no doubt that I will be back with my family and hopefully friends also, very soon. Great value for August, you wont be disappointed here, I assure you.
A quiet, beautiful resort with a gorgeous beach”
We had such a lovely stay at the AANA - nice staff, gorgeous surroundings and very good food. Everything about our stay was pretty much perfect, except that we couldnt stay there the full duration of our trip as they were fully booked. We had to relocate to another hotel after three nights at the AANA and kept wishing we could go back there instead. The beach was the best we found on the island: fine smooth sand, nice lounge chairs, good beach-side restaurant and overall quiet and relaxing. The hotel restaurant was excellent as well. Overall, the AANA is the perfect beach resort. We would definitely stay here again!
Comfort and Adventure”
My stay at the AANA resort and spa was tremendous. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Eating along the water with the sound of the crashing sea was beautiful. The staff continually refilled coffee and took away empty dishes. One staff member even helped me change the tire of my car. The only issue I had with AANA was the shower pressure. It wasn't a steady stream. Despite the shower issue, I would definitely stay there again.
My family and really enjoyed staying at the AANA Resort and Spa. My children, aged 13,8, & 5, all had a wonderful time. They especially enjoyed the kayaking, swimming in the pools, playing in the ocean, playing beach volleyball, and the evening fire fly cruise. We would highly recommend this Resort to all our friends. In the future I think we will return again. The rates in the high can be a little high but for offseason travelers it is a great bargain.
Best place on Koh Chang”
We stay at Aana resort every time we visit Koh Chang since we first stayed there. The rooms are spacious with a simple but cozy and 'natural feeling' decoration. the top infinity pool is great to relax and the bottom pool is big enough to swim laps. We always take a Kayak to the beach after breakfast and love that Anna supply's towels and sunbeds at the pools but also the detached beach.
Good hotel, great location!! Lots of greenery”
Front desk are professionals and helpful, restaurant staff are great specially small lovely lady at service station housekeeping was good. Aana is prefect location in Klong Prow area half way if you want to go to White Sand beach or Bang Bao village Free shuttle service to white sand beach run in the morning and late afternoon Free kayak to go to the beach or boats service to get to the beach. The hotel located next to small river. If you love lots of tree the best place to be. Only one improvement of this hotel is maintaining pool cleanliness.
Aana is an excellent resort with friendly staff who will answer any queries. The rooms are very big and extremely clean and we had a balcony which looked over the pool. There is no beach at the resort but you can kayak or they will take you on their boat to their private beach-there are nicer beaches on the coast which they also run a free shuttle bus to. They offer a free firefly boat trip at night which is really good. All in all we thought aana was an excellent resort
Quiet hideaway for relaxation ”
Lovely resort and staff. Room rate provided excellent value for money and restaurant was good, though perhaps a tad expensive. Spa was similar, great services and experience but would be cheaper in town. Was there just after New Year so was very quiet-- a blessing if you want that a curse if you want something with a more lively atmosphere. Gym was the only thing lacking- could have had a bit more machinery (e.g. Treadmill, free weights and mat). Room was beautiful as were grounds-- photos don't do this place justice! Private beach was lush and cleaner than rest of Klong Prow. Kayak was very cool experience.. Overall an amazing stay and we were sorry to leave.
A brilliant stay with peace and quiet in abundance”
We stayed at Aana for 10 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We went for peace and quiet and that is what we got. The staff were great - so friendly - from the reception staff right through to the maintenance team and gardeners. Everyone was helpful and polite. There was entertainment on a couple of nights in the restaurant- not our thing but others enjoyed it. It certainly did'nt go on late. The food in the restaurant was good. A little dearer compared to the other restaurants in the area but there are other restaurants within walking distance. Great if you fancy a change. Loved the boat shuttle down to the beach - never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. We even tried kayaking ourselves down - totally unsuccessfully though others managed it! We stayed in a villa with plunge pool. It was totally big enough to be comfortable in for 10 days. We also enjoyed the walkways round the place. Some people have found the resort a little tired but we thought it was great.
Good value for money”
The resort is basically a 4-5 star place that is no longer “perfect”. You have all the facilities you would expect from a 4-5 star resort but they are a bit worn out. The TV is really old (but who comes to Thailand to watch TV anyway!?), the paint on the outside of some bungalows needs to be redone (but who really cares - the inside is fine), in general small details like this make the difference between a “perfect” resort and Aana. On the other hand the price is really good compared to those resorts so it really makes up for it. Breakfast was good and plenty, the free boat rides are kayaks are a nice addition and the beach is also nice. You also get free beach towels and bottled water (which is not really standard in Thailand). On the negative side, you are rather far away from everything, the massage is really expensive compared to other places on the island and the pillows are too big. Overall a good package with friendly staff.
Paradise on Koh Chang”
The Anna Resort & Spa is a great place to stay on Koh Chang. Located by an ocean inlet (river),the resort is set amongst the best kept tropical gardens you will find anywhere. The pool area is large yet quiet. You get to the private beach by kayak or hop on one of the resorts boats and be dropped off at the beach. During the day there are two resort buses (one in the morn. and late aft.)that will take you to and from White Sands Beach. The resort is very friendly and relaxing.
Unique Esturine Environment”
First off AANA is in a gorgeous location: estuarine with a nice small thai fishing villiage on each shore, original island grasslands on the other side, and the beautiful pacific beach 0.5k away which you can can go to by free Cinnomon Restaurant kayak or motor boat. AANA proper is an adventure to wander through. Old wooden plank bridges link the villas at various levels. There are two swimming pools. A pool filled with light green water overlooking the esturary. Then a oh-my-gosh pool raised up to the tree canopy level. The bed in the deluxe room where I stayed was romantic with a white goosemer canopy overhead. The balcony was large with handsome weathered wood. The Cinnomon Restaurant has to be the best hotel inclusive breakfast I have ever enjoyed. The fish is fresh and authentically thai seasoned. The staff is friendly with an inexhaustible number of smiling pretty faced young faces who like to talk with the guests if talked to first.
