Last minute change - but cannot really fault”
Our 1 night accommodation elsewhere was cancelled at the last minute and we were rebooked to stay at Abs by the Bay by the original providers. We didn't know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised when we got to the Skippers unit and little welcome note. It is a small studio unit, but super clean. Pleasantly decorated, comfy queen size bed and tea/coffee/microwave cupboard with minibar. The bathroom is light and spacious and again super clean. Well priced and ideal for 1 night stopovers and Lyn was very friendly and welcoming...
A cozy little home in great surroundings”
Driving around Port Arthur region, we saw many other places of accommodation and we both agreed that our choice of Abs by the Bay was an excellent one. Tucked away amidst carefully-maintained gardens and having private access to the bay to savour the sunset, one could not ask for more. And yet, there was more! The host, was most welcoming and helpful. The bed was soft and inviting, with lovely sheets. The bathroom was nicely decorated. And the cookies provided were most delicious! This will be our choice again when we return to Port Arthur.
Great experience”
abs by the bay has a convenient location. the room was tidy and clean. the hotel is near to the sea and you can enjoy beautiful sunset there. the hotel owner was very nice and helpful in providing travel information. we enjoyed our stay very much.
Beautiful cottage with nice and quiet surroundings”
we had a very nice stay at Abs by the Bay besides there's no restaurant or supermarket nearby for dinner. The room is very clean and spacious, the shower is comfortable. And the host even prepared a sofa bed for us even we didn't confirm whether we'll have an extra person. And it's located near a bay side area with a very nice view in the morning. There's no wifi or even cell phone network but the hosts were so nice to offer us their fixed line phone even at a late evening.
Very thin wall”
Abs by the Bay is generally a nice place to stay in, but the wall separating my unit from the next is so thin that you can literally hear every single word the other party is staying. This is the one important drawback. The rest is good.
Friendly Prace and nice backyard sunset ”
We stayed just one night there for visiting Port Arthur. Very friendly owner and we were welcome to have a look the backyard for the bay view. we enjoyed a beautiful sunset there. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed.
Many thanks for staying with us Naoko We are glad you had a nice stay Hope to see you again
Great location to major attractions”
We had a wonderful stay and Christmas in this self-contained hotel. Staffs were friendly and gave us lots of travel tips and information. Room is bright and spacious with large living area and bathroom. Kitchen was also well-equipped. I was surprised that they had rice cooker and chopsticks! The location was peaceful and close to major attractions such as chocolate factory, Tasmania devil park, Port Arthur historic site.
Beautiful Garden”
It was a faborious stay there with the warm hospitality offered by the lovely host. We enjoyed the peaceful environment and the amazing river view from the hotel. Don't miss the star gazing opporturnity at night if the weather is good.
Exceptional hospitality in a great location.”
What a great spot to stay!! From when we arrived until we left we felt privileged to stay here! On our arrival we were given a warm welcome with some fresh fish being cooked on the owners' BBQ and then given an overview of the area. It is clear that hospitality is a very important thing for the local Tasmanian owners, with amazing attention to detail in the finishing touches on the room, provision of plenty of milk. This is a place where you feel someone has gone the extra mile to make your stay special. After the bushfires that have impacted this area, everyone in the area deserves a bit of helping hand up!
Very comfortable modern studio room”
We had a great overnight stay, relaxed well and the staff helped us a great deal with ideas for activities around the area.
Comfortable stay”
The hotel has wonderful BBQ facilities. The garden is nice too. I had a great time over there. The room is clean, and the mini bar is great too. I would defintely stay at this hotel if visiting Port Author again. The hotel is very close to different attarcation point too
Cosy and friendly”
Owner is super friendly even though we reached after dark. The rooms are apparently marked with our names already so do look out for the signs of the room and your name on it when you enter the property. Parking area is spacious and room was cosy and toilet was equipped with the heater light so its super warm inside. There is no laundry area so you have to go laundry shops instead and it's not near the property.
very good”
The owner is friendly n attentive. The inn is next to bay and have cottages. Very nice room with patio. BBQ and garden table available. The rooms n bathroom area big, comfortable and clean
Beautiful sunsets and friendly staff ”
Basic but comfortable room well located on the road to Port Arthur. Staff were very knowledgeable about the area and offered great advice. There is no internet and phone reception for non telstra customers in Port Arthur (and much of Tas) is non-existant. There are also no ATM's nearby so make sure you have enough cash for meals etc. The garden at the rear of the property is perfect for an evening picnic dinner while the sunsets over the water.
Nice and comfort cottage with beautiful garden”
It is very beautiful with wonderful seaview. Carpark and garden are very pretty. Comfortable room, and the host is real friendly and helpful. They provide all the travel information we need to the surroundings.
And by the Bay is a great place to stay when visiting the Pirt Arthur area. ”
Brent & Lyn the owners make you very welcome. Near OzZoo which is great plus several places to get an evening meal nearby. We stayed 2 nights which you need to see everything nearby of interest. Best to pick up breakfast provisions etc in Sorell before arriving. We really enjoyed our stay here - the gardens are beautiful too.
Cheap and cheerful”
Easy to communicate with staff, car parking right next to door. Shower was either crazy hot or icy cold but otherwise a large bathroom. Mattress was quite hard and springy. Despite the cold outside the room was really warm.
well appointed peaceful stay”
This is a little home business where the owners live at the rear of the property. The owners were clearly house proud as the villa for us was very clean and comfortable and the garden had clearly had a lot of work done to it and looked great. The property backed onto the lake which was also nice and had several attractions nearby. There isn't a Lot in the town, no shopping etc, but was perfect for us as was just up road from port Arthur which we came to town for. Very happy with stay, would use it again.
A1 Accommodation”
The hosts were excellent, unit was very clean and had all the little extras. Fresh herbs and spinach from the garden was a pleasant gesture. Very comfortable accommodation all round.
small and delight full”
couple of things that had let down the skipper room. the was no kitchen stink. Had to do the dish in a bucket. And no oven don't know what the other rooms were like. Still had a kettle. fridge and microwave, etc, etc. And the other thing I didn't like much was in the bathroom. They had glass bricks for windows and there were no curtain in the bathroom. Felt like you got no privacy when going to have a shower or go to the toilet. All in all a pleasant stay for the night.
