Two days in Barcelona”
There is only one thing wrong with Acevi Villarroel. It's due for a refresh. Time to replace the beds and some of the damaged wood panelling. The staff are great, very helpful for visitors to the city. Everything is perfectly clean. Location-wise, it's a thirty minute walk to most attractions such as Sagrada and La Rambla. That was fine for us as we wore off all the food we ate. Two subway lines are also close by.
Nice hotel, good location”
The Acevi is a nice hotel in a good location--close to many of the tourist sites but also within very short walk of the Urgell Metro stop. Room was spacious and clean, and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was good and inexpensive. My only complaint, and it is a tiny one, is that there is no bar soap provided (only shower gel), so hand washing is difficult.
A good option for a good night's sleep”
the room was quite large but a little bit too dark. it faced other buildings so it was nice and quiet. the walls facing the hall way were thin, but the neighbours were calm, so it was not a problem. the room was clean and in a nice condition. the bed was big and comfortable. the ac worked satisfyingly. there was a free safe in the room, and good storage for our belongings. the tv was not too modern, and most of the channels had very bad reception. so if you're in town to watch tv, you might want to choose another option. the staff was friendly and helpful. we never tried their restaurant, but there are plenty of coffee shops, super markets and restaurants around the corner. the hotel has a (very) small pool and a sun deck that was nice for some tanning during the siesta. we didn't try the gym since it was pricey at 10 euros a day. the location was excellent and we never felt unsafe in the area. it was very close to two metro stations, serving different metro lines. just a 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. there was a bus stop just across the street from the hotel. all in all a nice option if you're looking for a good night's sleep in barcelona and don't care too much about the extras. i would stay here again.
the location of the hotel is very good, good access to public transportation which is one of the very important things in barcelona. rooms are clean and good in size, staff were helpful and friendly
Perfect Location, great hotel”
A wonderfull 4 star hotel in the heart of Barcelona, easy access to all the areas. Friendly staff and great atmosphere in the hotel. The hotel suit for everybody: work, young couple or fiends.
4 stars hotel more like 5 stars”
huge room was provided during our stay, 20qm at least for normal room. Very clearn, staff is very nice and helpful. Close to subway, about 10-15mins walk. Not that easy to take train coz require transit to different lines. Suggest to take taxi, around $30 euro. The area is located close to main shopping area, about 20mins walk or 1 stop train. The breakfast is not very good, suggest to go somewhere else. Overall the hotel is out standing with this price. Suggest to all type of people. Free WIFI.
Modern hotel, but a few changes required”
The hotel is pleasantly modern with a plush foyer and lots of comfy leather armchairs to relax in while awaiting friends or a taxi. It is very central, just a short bus ride from La Rambla. The rooms are very nice, with wood panelling and modern styling. Unfortunately our room had a bit of an unpleasant smell (like a faint whiff of sewage) which we couldn't track down. We got used to it pretty quickly though and it was only realy evident when we had been out of the room for a while. Our room also had 2 single beds pushed together to make a double, but the beds themselves were very comfortable. The room came equipped with adjustable climate control, a welcome change from the take-it-or-leave-it too hot or too cold choices we are normally faced with in hotels. A safe is also included in the room. We chose a room with breakfast included. Although there was a wide range of breakfast food included, including cereals (room temperature milk - yeuck), fruit juices, croissants and pain au chocolat, fresh fruit, pastries, cooked meats, cheeses and breads, the hot food selection was, well, awful. There was a choice of sausage - lumps of pork sausage or chorizo - swimming in oil, rubbery fried eggs - like the novelty rubber fried eggs you see in joke shops and hard boiled eggs. The first day we were there we saw another guest order a freshly boiled egg. We did the same and it was no problem at all for the staff. Each morning the chef would come out a couple of minutes after our eggs had been served, and we would thank him warmly. He returned our thanks with a wide smile and a little nod. A couple of days there was scrambled egg available and I have to say, it was very nice indeed. One of the main problems with the hot food is that it is left sitting in stainless steel containers with the lids open and so was not hot at all. If the lids were kept closed, the food would stay hot. The spa facilities are good, if a bit basic.
Perfect for business trip!”
Great hotel and good location, you must stay here if you visit Barcelona
Great location, helpful staff”
Really helpful staff who also answered emails with very detailed description about the directions from the airport to the hotel. Really nice room. But the toilet door was made out of not-see-through glass and was a push door, so it didn't close completely - there was a gap all the way around. So if you don't know each other that well and don't like the other one to hear you peeing etc. this could me a problem. Cleaning everyday. I needed an extender to plug in my blowdrier and straightener so I could get closer to the mirror. The staff provided that for me the next morning. About 15 minutes by walk to La Rambla and 5 minutes from metro station "Urgell".
Value hotel with helpful staff”
This hotel offered the most affordable rates over the weekend when hotel room prices increased significantly. Room was spacious and clean. No safe in room. But other than tend it had all the necessary ammenities. Close to park mountjuic.
Central and Cosy”
Room smelt of smoke upon entry, though it's a non-smoking hotel, and it did each time we returned to the room. However, bed was comfy, shower and bathroom spacious, could have done with an electric socket both sides of the bed rather than just one side, but generally comfy. Swimming pool on 2nd floor was only thigh deep, and recliner I used was broken so rather uncomfortable. Annoyingly had to get towels from reception first, but there's no explanation, no staff at poolside, no drinks except presumably by ordering as room service... could have been better managed in that sense. Great central location though for bars and restaurants, all an easy walk away.
I arrived at the hotel at 11am and the hotel allowed me to check into the room early. Hotel is not too far from metro station. Very friendly staff and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again
Nice Hotel in Eixample”
OK hotel, decent in Eixample. 20mins walk to La Rambla.. not for traveller who doesnt like walking.
Particularly enjoyed the hotel staff. They were fantastic. Location is good and room was nice. My only negative comment is the shower leaks and with room on a slate, the water travels throughout the restroom. Suggest fixing. Floor get slippery.
Great location, great rooms, friendly staff”
Would definately recommend. About a 20 minute walk from the ramblas, far away enough for some peace and quiet but still near enough to gander down. Mind-blowing pizzeria across the road and cafes nearby all around. I know you've looked at maybe 18 other hotels but just book this one, trust me i'm a doctor (i actually am).
Overpriced spa/pool area not relaxing”
We were told that as we did not book through the hotel website we would need to pay EUR10 per day to use the gym (which is a single machine!!!). The hotel pool is also not very relaxing as there are a great deal of apartments all around the pool area with children making noise.
Great hotel in a poor location”
first and foremost, the hotel itself is great. the rooms are spacious, clean and modern, and the breakfast is affordable and tasty. my only peeve is the location. unless you like to walk in the summer heat, the nearest subway station is 10 mins away. there is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but it serves limited locations and stops running at 22:30
nice hotel very good location ”
I had a good time in this hotel, cause is located just in the heart of Madrid close to restaurants, bars, nightclubs etc. I was on business and to be honest the heart of Madrid is not the best location if you need to get access out and in of the centre as traffic is really heavy at rush hours, but is you do not mind to spend a few more hours trying to get into town if you been out and then enjoy the Spanish way right from the inside then this is just perfect
Great room with good facilities”
The hotel room is great and the bed is comfortable. The service staffs are polite and helpful. But the nearest metro station is about 15min walk away.
Nice small hotel”
Friendly and helpful staff. A very nice breakfast there. They had a jacuzzi, steamroom and sauna in the cellar. pride 10 euroes pr day for 2 persons. Not the most sentral hotel but ok. The room was ok.
