Calm oasis in hectic Bangkok”
We stayed at the Ad Lib for five days and it was a great experience. When we first drove up it seemed to be in a weird location--through a street and an alley that were far from glamorous, more akin to what I feel is "real" Bangkok. That said, when we got to the hotel it impressed me with sleek but warm modern design--lots of glass, water features, lush landscaping, and well-designed lighting. It is intimate and completely unlike the giant hotel towers that line nearby Sukhumvit Road. Once we got our bearings, it turned out to be a great location--right by the Phloen Chit BTS stop which provides swift access to many of Bangkok's sights, and right by a highway that provides airport access without having to fight too much traffic. It's walking distance to a lot of attractions as well if you want a chance to see things up close and not through the windows of a cab stuck in one of this city's notorious jams. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, and the bed was so comfortable I spent too much time lazing in it when I should have been out exploring more of the city. I also really enjoyed the Malin + Goetz bathroom products--they smell delightful. The staff were always gracious and accommodating, from the first welcome wai and huge smile to the last, and the service was impeccable from delicious breakfast (the Eggs Benedict--Eggs Benny as they call it--is to DIE for), to having a late-night snack/nightcap at the lobby bar, or ordering a drink poolside. Speaking of which, the pool area is a lovely place to chill out and relax away from the hustle of Bangkok's streets. Everything about this hotel felt boutique and special, without a wallet busting price. If I ever go back to Bangkok I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I fell in love with Ad Lib, its staff, the people in the neighborhood we walked by everyday, and the calico kitten and her black mom at the gallery around the corner who came to greet us every time we walked by (I'm sure my treats helped).
Very, very good Biutique Hotel”
In Asia, especially in big towns like Bangkok, it is recommended to book a five star hotel. Except you stay at The Ad Lib, wich is an Oasis in the eye of the orcan. Near Sukhumvit, Extremly good designed, easy going, quiet and green because of it‘s clever concept. The staff is super friendly and does everything for you. The rooms are comfortable and offer all yo need, there‘s a pool and a fitness, good maintained and it‘s nice to be at the lobby - inside or outside. I prefer this kind of place more than the luxury but unpersonal and cold atmosphere of the big ones. Ad Lib is really recommendable and I will stay there again when back in Bangkok in November.
Superb personal service and great ambience”
We had a lovely time at Ad Lib Bangkok, and will be more than happy to stay at this hotel again when we next return to Bangkok. It is one of the best thematic boutique hotels along Sukhumvit, you can't ask for more.............sensational. Staff were helpful and friendly, always eager to please. Ambience throughout the hotel was very modern contemporary spa resort.......really really pleasant and tranquil, especially right in the middle of the city. We met the young owner twice, and he struck me as a person who was very hands-on in his hotel business and the results show in the service and delivery of the product.
Great service, will be back!”
Stayed for 4 days as a solo traveler for leisure and received the warmest welcome and goodbye from hospitality staff ever. And that is saying a lot considering I've been visiting the City of Smiles since 2009 for at least twice a year. Ad Lib knocks all of the other places I'ver ever stayed at out of the competition. The food is fantabulous - ordered in room dining everyday and the menu is quite reasonably price. Truly an awesome team behind Ad Lib from concierge to front desk, from chef to housekeeping. Oh and did I mention that the place is furnished so well that I am inspired to change the furnishings in my own home. The hotel is owned by a local Thai boss who hired a Spanish designer. The location was also very convenient - yes, it may be a little dark at night walking in from Soi 1 since there are quite a few trees lining the sidewalk but it never takes me more than 8 minutes tops to brisk walk in from Phloen Chit BTS station. One thing to be aware of is that the location is surrounded by greenery (which I adore) but also makes it a haven for mosquitoes too. I spotted some flying about at the lobby upon check in and when I mentioned it, the check-in staff kindly brought a bottle of organic repellant (citronella oil) to my room. Didn't have any problems with the mozzies subsequently since there is also an odorless repellent plugged into the wall socket in each room. I also suddenly realized that I had not brought along my international adaptor with me upon check-in and so requested for an adaptor. To my surprise, my room was equipped with at least 6 individual international adaptor wall sockets which I thought was a very thoughtful design element. Obviously they really were putting the traveler in mind when designing the place. The bathrooms are roomy and I loved the full length mirror behind the sliding door. Fittings are genuine Grohe bathroom equipment. One piece of advice would be to not close the glass door fully (don't force it shut) because the measureme
Perfect, Absolutely Perfect!”
This is a place that I'd seriously recommend to anyone. It's the only hotel that can only give so much at such a low cost. The best thin about the hotel first and foremost were the staff. They hae been really excellent, friendly, and really cared for us from their heart. Brian in particular has treated us with warm heart but in all honesty, every member of the staff has been an absolutely joy to be with. The breakfast was fantastic and filling. The pool, facilities, interior designs, and the atmosphere were combined seeminglessly to give us an unforgettable night. I've been to big name hotels like Marriot or Hilton but I daresay Ad Lib was better. It's just unfortunate I could only stay for a night but if I were to vist Bangkok, I'll definitely make all my stay in Ad Lib. Class Act, perfect place at an unbelievably low price. Recommended from the bottom of my heart
Great location, service, accommodations, and food”
The Ad lib is, by far, my favorite hotel in Bangkok. I go 2-3 times a year to see doctors at Bumrungrad Hospital, and it's conveniently located right around the corner. it's tucked into a little corner off of Sukhumvit Soi 1, and has the look and feel of a boutique hotel, with amenities that you usually find at a bigger hotel - swimming pool, gym, and a first-class restaurant. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and greet me back every time like family. The rooms are very comfortable - clean, modern, and down-to-earth. The pool area is small but very nicely done - I like the lounges that are on a shallow ledge of the pool, the hanging chairs that rock you to sleep, and a covered area by the bar with couches and cushions for when it rains. The lobby and restaurant are welcoming, and the food is outstanding. Breakfast buffet is pricey, but well worth it, or you can order a la carte off the menu. Highly recommended.
Cozy hotel in the heart of Bangkok”
We stayed two nights in Ad Lib Bangkok recently, and were very satisfied with our stay there. The whole environment of the hotel and room is very cozy and comfortable, despite in the city of Bangkok. All the staffs were very friendly and accommodating, making us feel like home. Although our hotel room doesn't include daily breakfast, however, this gave us opportunity to explore nearby and good breakfast/brunch could be easily found due to the strategic location. The hotel is located within walking distance to Terminal 21 shopping mall, Central Embassy and etc. Overall, a very good experienced for us and we will surely be back to Ad Lib.
A jewel in the middle of the city”
We stumbled upon Ad Lib online, and quickly booked this based on the photos, and yet was pleasantly surprised to find that it was even better than expected. close to Suk, off Soi 1, and near a favourite Italian restaurant of ours. The rooms were well sized, and outfitted in wood and raw concrete. The pool was a pleasant surprise as well, quiet, tucked away. We will definitely book this hotel on our next stay in Bangkok. Well done Ad Lib.
Perfect Bangkok Hideaway”
Walk under the giant ficus tree at the entrance of Ad Lib and enter a calm cool oasis in the middle of busy Bangkok. This hotel is a hidden gem! Rooms: Compact & quiet with beautiful modern organic design; great night's sleep on a VERY comfortable bed. Staff: Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful; offered early check-in, baggage storage & help with transportation. It was my first time at the hotel, but felt welcomed like an old friend. Thanks Ms. Bee, Mr. Nice & Ms. Rose! Location: Hidden down a quiet soi, but less than 10 minute walk to the skytrain; or grab free hotel tuk tuk ride to the main road. Lots of street food stalls & restaurants nearby. If you are in town to visit Bumrungrad Hospital, it's right next door. Vibe/Ammenities: Beautiful spots to relax at the indoor lobby bar and outdoor lounge. Small infinity pool is magical for a night swim. Every space is surrounded by greenery, giving the whole place a "secret garden" feel. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Bangkok.
Wonderful Hideaway in Bangkok”
Ad Lib Bangkok provided a wonderful experience for our first trip to Thailand. The peaceful hideaway is in an extremely convenient location but isn't disturbed by the surrounding bustle. The staff provided excellent service, answering any questions we had and servicing amy requests that we made. Coupled with a delicious restaurant option Ad Lib Bangkok ended up being one of the most alluring aspects of our stay in Thailand.
An absolutely beau. ”
Went to bkk for a short retreat and wanted to stay away from the tourist filled pratunam area. Took my chances by booking a stay with Ad Lib after looking through many reviews and it definitely wasn't a mistake. The entrance of the hotel is majestic and the rooms are cosy, clean and comfortable for couples. I love how it is located away from the hustle and bustle. BTS is just about 5-10 minutes walk out. The only thing that could have made the trip better is that, to have more food stalls available around the area at night. Not much night markets there unlike Pratunam. However, the food at Ad Lib is just so good you can order in to your room at ANY TIME since it is a 24/7 service! Will definitely be back :)
On the way back home”
We booked two nights at Ad Lib before traveling back to Switzerland. Very Nice is the Restaurant area outside! A nature small Place in the middle of a big City, where you can relax! The room has also a very modern and Nice design. Because it is in a big City, there is not maby space between the buildings. So the room was Little dark. But the architects made the best and you do not Look to a grey wall but on vertically installed fresh Green plants! Outside of the Hotel there are many typical Thai Food cookers on the street, if you dont know this Kind of Thailand the smell and atmosphere can be a little strange for you. But the Hotel has a tuk tuk service for driving you to the next bigger Street. But we Liked the area. Also very good is, the way to the Airport is not so far away. We would choose the Ad Lib again.
A fabulous oasis of stylish, friendly hospitality”
I was thrilled to get a last minute booking for my last night in Bangkok after a delayed stay due to stolen passports and a lost wallet. I loved the drive through the gorgeous hanging creepers of the beautiful tree int he entranceway, and began to relax for the first time in five days from the moment I stepped through the door. Staff were dressed casually and were friendly but impeccably hospitable. While they were organising my room - and an on the spot request for a cot was no problem to them - I sat in the gorgeous lobby / bar / restaurant / garden haven with my toddler and ordered happy hour drinks and his dinner. At one point he did a runner and their staff insisted I sit and relax and enjoy my cocktail while they chased after him and entertained him. The very idea that I should have to look after my own child! This stay was the highlight of my SEA trip, and I would have stayed longer and cancelled my stopover elsewhere had they not been booked out. The rooms are stylish, comfortable, compact, gorgeous and just all round fabulous, as is absolutely everything I experienced at this hotel. The pool is fantastic, and everything, while designed for adult travellers, is absolutely adaptable to toddlers, and I was made to feel extremely welcome. I would absolutely recommend the Ad Lib to all travellers and would love to stay there again.
Paradise in BKK”
We booked Ad Lib for one night only and had a wonderful experience there. The rooms are very well designed with fantastic use of space, it was all that we needed. The pool and surrounding lounge areas are very relaxing the 24 hour room service menu was extensive and well executed. Staff were more than accommodating, we tried to stay for an additional night but unfortunately they were fully booked.Heaps of street food in the surrounding areas and so close to everything regardless of other reviews. This is possibly my favourite hotel in Bangkok so far.
Check prices before booking”
Ad LIb has a great location, close to the skytrain station and a bit hidden from the traffic on the main roads. As soon as you enter the hotel, you dont feel the rush of Bangkok. The rooms, are not spcious neither too small, have a good size. The modern design is unique and very very nice. Dining area, bar and reception are looking fantastic and welcoming. Staff performance is very good and super friendly. Before your booking: Check rates on different days - their prices change veryday depending on capacity. You can get easily a great deal or sometimes you pay more than normal. Dont believe their 50% promotion discounts
small oasis in hearth of city”
we just love Ad Lib hotel, it was our second stay there, and every time again! location is so central and close to 2 bts stations, where staff can bring you by a tuktuk, or you just walk and enjoy bangkok. staff is so nice and supportive, they will solve every issue right away! room comfort is also very nice, enough space and very warm interior, like in whole hotel. lobby looks also very nice, with a lot of wooden interior. we didn't get breakfast, therefore no comment on this, but should be ok. overall, we found our perfect location to stay whenever we visit bangkok!
Beautiful Boutique Hotel”
I enjoyed my stay at Ad Lib, it's tucked out of the way of busy Bangkok but very accessible to everything with a short walk. The best thing about this hotel is the styling, the rooms have been cleverly designed to maximise space. The lobby is beautiful and comfortable and very pleasant to sit and relax on the comfy couches after a day of walking around Sukhumvit.
Highly recommend!! Loved our stay at the ad lib! Easy to get to using the BTS sky train. although not in the nicest part of Bangkok this hotel was one of our favourites as the bed was the comfiest we'd stayed in during our whole stay, the breakfast was amazing! Huge selection and all cooked fresh- not buffet style. Pool was nice, staff couldn't do enough for us. Will return if we ever return to sukhumvit
Very good hotel at a reasonable price”
I had a great stay at Ad Lib. The hotel is really put together nicely and the rooms are very comfortable with top quality bedding and comfort features. Breakfast in the room is great and the menu is varied. Gym and pool are also new and very well done with everything you need. My only major complaint was the hotel music blasting in the hallways at 8am and waking us up. I complained about this and it was rectified although it took 2 days to fix it. Aside from that issue it was great and I would recommend the Ad Lib
fabulous stay at Ad Lib last week. It's a family owned hotel with an international cool vibe. Staff are terrific, very friendly & helpful. Rooms a delight. contemporary with good bathroom & very clean. Public spaces inviting & relaxing, especially after the madness of Bangkok' crowds & traffic. Only gripe was the food was quite average from soggy pizza to boring breakfast. But there are so many places to eat in Bangkok it was not a deterrent.
Take a look at these facilities:
