Luxe Romantic Getaway”

We had the pleasure of staying at The Cellars Hohenort for 3 nights in Nov 2020. From the start we truly felt welcome. The service was above and beyond, 5+ stars. Special thanks to Helenica at reception who helped us with restaurant/spa bookings, suggestions for activities, late checkout, everything! She gave us a great tour of the grounds upon arrival; the rest of the staff were always professional and friendly. The room, bed, welcome bottle of wine, free minibar (1st set), toiletries (Molton Brown), WIFI, cleaning, turn down service, etc were fantastic. The two restaurants onsite were fabulous! The Greenhouse was excellent for a fine dining experience of exquisite local cuisine. The Conservatory was exceptional for an elevated meal, and breakfast here was substantial! The grounds are expansive and beautifully maintained, with several manicured rose gardens, pool areas, and a small vineyard. We won't soon forget our time here and we hope to return!

Old world charm with all the luxuries.”

We started off at the spa for a wonderful couples massage then enjoyed a lovely lunch. Then moved on to the slightly heated pool and enjoyed the amazing gardens. The room was comfortable with a patio and garden view and the complementary minibar was a nice extra. The included breakfast was lovely and the staff were great. The 2 restaurants are top notch and the wine list was great and well priced. The only improvement could be the TV service which had limited channels. Te WIFI signal was good. Overall a very relaxing experience in a special area with magnificent gardens and a sense of history.

The hotel is located in a spectacular setting and the beautiful grounds were just coming into bloom during our visit. Food was excellent, breakfasts plentiful. Restaurants are both excellent. Cape Town was 20 minutes away. Our room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and available.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful gardens with great management and staff”

We had very high expectations, which were often exceed. It has the feel of a well run, family hotel (although the Ardmore Exhibition was on, attracting 100s of visitors). In fact this exhibition was a highlight for me, as the whole of our building was decked out in these wonderful fabrics. However,, I do hope that this lovely hotel doesn’t succumb to being too corporately-focused. Our Veranda room was just beautiful & huge Staff everywhere were lovely, attentive and efficient. We were made to feel both welcome and special by the Reception staff and Adam, guest relations, throughout our stay. GM Sebastian & his Team were evident and seemed genuinely interested in feedback. A few areas for improvement: service in garden patchy.. Gym is very small but fulfilled a purpose. .The Greenhouse, whilst excellent, didn’t maintain the initially high standard of service, for the duration of our tasting menu, as more junior staff were left in charge. Will definitely return, lovely hotel.

Beautiful property”

This is a stunning hotel in a wonderful location. However, it lost a few points for the very small pool(s). Although a gym is advertised, but turned out to be a small room a little larger than a cupboard with barely anything in it. A hotel this of this calibre needs a better gym and larger pool. Reception staff - fantastic and well trained. Dining and Bar staff were also good although orders were often slow and staff should be trained to produce nibbles with drinks. We always had to ask. House keeping was a low point unfortunately. Very pleasant staff, but on arrival had to request toiletries (there were some in the room but they had been partly used). Also had to ask for water each day. The room was often not made up until mid afternoon and on one occasion late afternoon we had to ask to have it done. On the plus side it has a stunning and very interesting garden which includes a small grove of huge camphor trees, perfect for a ramble. We will certainly return.

Great place to stay tucked away in a grand old garden in Constantia HIlls”

Charming Hotel with all the amenities you could ask for. Quiet and peaceful with nice rooms and attentive staff. Their restaurants are exceptional. If you want to dine at the Greenhouse it is recommended that you book when you book your rooms to stay. The food at Greenhouse was exceptional and is rated amongst the top ten restaurants in South Africa. They also have good spa facilities. The Hotel is about half way between the Atlantic Seaboard and the Indian ocean so you are well positioned for trips to Cape Point and the Penguins of Simons Towns on one side and then equally close to beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Probably my favourite hotel in Cape Town.
