Excellent 40th bday spoil for myself ”
I decided to spoil myself with a full day spa and overnight stay at Mount Grace. Loved every moment being there. My therapist was so attentive and thorough. Then got to the room- immaculate condition. The hotel also brought me a complimentary piece of cake to celebrate my bday.. Really wonderful stay! Highly recommended! Room service menu was very average though- would recommend more refined options. Other than that- this hotel and spa made the start to my 40s an excellent one! Thanks,Mount Grace!

I had a lovely stay, but.. ”
The hotel's grounds are spectacularly beautiful and the spa was pure joy! This would normally be enough for me to recommend a place. However, I have a huge issue with the restaurants. Firstly, they're super expensive. Secondly, I informed the hotel that I'm a vegan six weeks in advance. I'm also deathly allergic to diary. They assured me that they would be able to cater for all my dietary requirements. On the first night of my stay, I found random things on the buffet and managed to put a plate together. The following night though, the chef offered me rice and veggies from the buffet. I didn't want buffet again, but also felt a bit short changed as we were paying an exorbitant amount for our two nights stay and felt they could have put in a little extra effort.. In the end, after the chef refused to make me something other than what is on the menu (and I can't eat any of it), settled for a bowel of pasta with an tomato sauce of sorts. Obviously without the parmesan cheese. When I received my pasta it was falling apart. I could tell it was overcooked. The sauce had no sundried tomatoes in it, or basil. Total disappointment and yes I ate it, because at that point I was very very hungry and we had already been waiting for a long long time. So no, I wouldn't recommend Mount Grace. Exept maybe for a day visit to go to the spa.

Hotel was nice and clean, rooms are starting to look a bit old , tv is one of the old lcd with broad frame , quality of tv signal was terrible for sports . Staff very friendly and efficient. Although there was zero staff around the pool had to walk to the restaurant to give my order in, would have definitely ordered more drinks and food if there was someone there more regularly . If you want to charge premium rates the rooms need to reflect that

Mount Grace Hotel & Spa is an exceptional place, my only disappointment was the bar that did not serve cold beers, the cocktail had big chunks of ice in it and was undrinkable with a straw. Not something that one would expect from a four star hotel.

The former glory has gone”
What a let down, tired, run down and no service. The restaurant food was so bad we couldn't eat it. The room leaked water and had no hairdryer. This feedback was given to reception the next morning and they just don't care. Needless to say we ate in Hartbeespoort the next night and traveled back to the hotel in the dark to avoid the restaurant. We did enjoy the most amazing couple massage in the spa and that was exceptional.

Overall bad experience ”
From an accommodation perspective if you stay in the suite the room size, quality and amenities are definitely of a 4star level. The family room however is definitely not at the same level. It’s outdated, small and definitely not at 4 star level. The food and dining experience was extremely disappointing from breakfast to the fine dining meals prepared at their Al la cart restaurants, the overpriced dinner buffet which lacked variety and the basic room service options which were prepared shockingly bad.

From an accommodation perspective staying in the Suite is quite nice, is modern and private. The family rooms are very outdated, small and not well equipped to deal with the cold weather. The meals at the restaurants (breakfast, lunch, dinner and room service) were shockingly bad. Very bad experience overall.

Romatic anniversary”
We slept one night at Mount Grace for our anniversary. It is a beautiful setting. The spa and fascilities at the spa was very nice. The dinner and breakfast was super. The only thing that was not great was the maintance of the buildings and gardens. The staff was also not great. Very friendly but a bit slow.
