Great Place in Yangon!”
Agga Guest House is a nice place to stay in Yangon. The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is close to 19th Street where one can enjoy the nightlife. Yangon hotels are very expensive and this is one of the better options if you don't want to stay in a hostel. The rooms are spacious.
This is a great place to stay in Yangon. I have been to Myanmar four times and just now discovered this place. Best place for what you get. Great staff, too, especially the housekeeping. Give them a raise in salary! :)
Conveniently Located Backpackers Hostel”
My stay at Agga Guest House was great for the value. I got into Yangon on a night bus from Bagan at about 5:30 in the morning so I couldn't check in, but the staff was friendly and gave me a towel and allowed me to take a shower. They let me check in before 9 too, which was way before normal check-in time. As for the room, I was expecting a dormitory set-up but I had a whole room with AC to myself, which I could lock up when I left and I held on to the key. It wasn't anything fancy, but a bed was all I really needed. I just stayed one night, but the location was great. It's close to all the cool Chinatown stuff, Bogyoke market, and 19th St. is great for dinner! Location and value for your money was great.
Good choice for budget backpackers”
I stayed at Agga on my first and last day in Myanmar. The staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. They allowed me to check-in a couple of hours earlier on my first day as the dorm was empty, which was much appreciated. I stayed in the dorm nearest to the reception and the wifi worked well albeit a little slow. All in all, I would recommend Agga to budget backpackers.
Good central budget hotel”
Good location in Chinatown and within walking distance of most attractions downtown, including the Sule Paya (approx 800-1000m), City Hall building, Yangon High Court, Kheam Hock chinese temple. Numerous dining options in the Chinatown area (including Japanese food and also Taiwanese bubble tea!). Staff were also keen to help, and the hotel and shared bathroom was very clean - no complaints there. Only 2 minor negatives - hot water didn't appear to be working well when I was there, resulting in water that was almost cold, and breakfast could have been better. But hey, for the price one pays, this is a great option.
Clean & centrally located”
Overall it was a great stay! It was recommended by a friend and I can see why - it's clean, secure, location is fantastic (close to 19th street for nightlife and sightseeing spots are within walking distance). However, laundry is only available once a day, in the mornings. Also, my first night there, the front desk attendant told me there is a curfew of 11:00pm, so I wasn't able to explore the nightlife as I expected. However, the 2nd night I came back late with a group from the hostel and they let us in just fine at 2:00am. But overall it was a good stay.
Good budget option in Yangon”
The new guesthouse is located beyond Chinatown in the west of downtown, a walk or bus from town. The place is new, renovated reconverted rooms with air con and outside bathrooms. Simple, basic, clean, tidy, quiet and includes basic breakfast. Good value.
Friendly and central”
Agga is cheap (relative to Myanmar), and pleasant enough. I took a double room, which had big window and small balcony. I think that some of the single rooms were windowless. The staff was quite friendly. Good aircon, quite clean. Centrally located.
value for money”
value for money. the receptionist (Nada) was really patient with our questions about myanmar when we arrived. chinatown nearby. lots of roadside stalls selling fruits, food. supermarket nearby. beauty parlour opposite if you would like to have a hair wash or foot massage. stable wifi!
The staff are friendly, nice and helpful. Communicate well in English. There are no single rooms left so I chose the dorm room. I guess they only have 1or 2 single rooms. Clean, with wifi, 30mins walk to the Sule Pagoda, 10mins walk to the national museum and Feel restaurant(authentic Burmese Cuisine). The room is large, with 3 bunk beds. With air con but No windows to outside, so a bit humid. Feel sticky on bed sometimes. I stayed there for 3nights. I was offered the upper bed on the first night. And I requested to change to the lower bed on second night. They didn't make my bed after the second night. This is the only thing I don't understand. Even I stay on the same bed for consecutive nights doesn't mean I don't need my bed made. But the price is this cheap so never mind.
Good hospitality, good value for money”
The place is in the middle of China Town, taxi know exactly where it is when tell the street no.13. Convenient place, close to restaurants, supermarket, market, shopping places. Staff are very nice and helpful.
Good guesthouse close to center”
The guesthouse is quite close to the colonial center (about 15-20 Minutes walk). The rooms are small but enough for two. Shared bathrooms could be cleaner, there is hot water. The staff is always smiling and helpful.
Possibly the worst accomodation we had in Myanmar”
We've booked the twin room with a bunk bed. On Agoda it says its 17m² but it's not bigger than 8m² (quite sure it's smaller). it's like a box room converted in a bedroom. Possibly good for 1night but we had booked it for 3 as it said it's 17m². According to the reception guy you book according to pictures and not the description and unfortunately we couldn't change as we where going back and forth to the Thai Embassy for a visa (which is a plus as it's around 1.7kms away). Very thin gipsum walls and it was on the first level as reception (no stairs and it wasn't too noisy at least). Only good thing was that we had a good working AC. When we asked the staff about busses their reply was "I don't know" for whichever question we asked. Breakfast was simple egg and 2 peaces of toast, like it or not they will only give you coffee. Shared bathrooms where quite ok and clean. Location is good.
Beautiful Hostel, nice and helpful staff, nice location near food stores and myanmar embassy.”
The hostel is really beautiful with a little caffe downstairs. The owners a brother and his sister are really helpful with all questions and try to help you find your way arround bangkok. In the room there is airconditioning and the beds are comfy and clean. Downstairs there are toilets and showers also very clean and in good working order. The neighborhood is culturaly interesting and many yummy food shops and a park to wander about is near by. The only downside is that the windows in the doorm are not able to open, that felt sometimes like not enough new/fresh oxygen in the room.
Clean room with aircon, very cosy and well equipped. The staff took us inside at 3 in the morning, as our night bus arrived in the middle of the night. We've got a room with double bed, aircon an even balcony with a view on the street. overall, great experience.
The employees are great!”
I spent several nights in Agga Guesthouse, very clean, quiet, and above all I want to mention that the employees are really friendly and helpfull, especially the girl behind the reception, she is really GREAT! I really recomend this guesthouse if you have to stay a few nights in Yangoon, good price !
The only thing I think they should change are the mattres. It was a yoga mattres not a real one. We paid the same or less in other places and the beds were much better! The the staff is wonderful and the place is really clean. The toilets are clean all the time. They should add something more to the breakfast, maybe some fruit because it is not really good.
This is at the affordable end of spectrum but they are ok, safe, kind. Myanmar has big inflation problems so prices are high - this is worth money if you want to go for the cheapest but be in the center of downtown.
Greatest bang for your buck”
Clean and great location, staff were really friendly! Towels were provided and bathroom facilities were good for your money. Definitely staying here again. Only thing is if you show up after 3am they lock their doors so you need to call them to open it for you
Great Value for Money”
I had a really nice stay in Agga Guesthouse. The staffs there were very helpful and friendly! The room was decent for $7-10 with A/C. I would definitely stay at Agga Guesthouse again when I visit Yangon!
