Charming old hotel”
Aida Plaza was exactly as advertised - small, clean room with a sink. Toilet and shower were in separate rooms down the hall. Very reasonable $250 USD for 3 nights. A lot of reviews speak negatively about homeless people in the area - this is downtown on Market Street, a large busy street, and the unfortunate reality is that San Francisco has many homeless people no matter where in downtown. However the reviews that characterized this as threatening as way off. These are just people who are down on their luck. We had no issues with anyone, and no one camps out directly in front of the hotel. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this is not the hotel for you. If you want an affordable, minimal room, then check it out.

Would book with Aida Plaza Hotel again!”
My husband and I always book hostels as opposed to big fancy hotels because they are just the better value. We only use hotels to rest and sleep and the rest of the time we are out and about enjoying the vacation. Aida Plaza Hotel was very inexpensive but was still a decent hotel. The only downfall was we had to pay 40 bucks for overnight parking a block away, but if you didn't drive there that wouldn't be a problem. The hotel is located right next to restraunts, bars and night clubs and pier 39 is only a 45 min walk/9 min drive away!

Wonderful! A dream come true.”
Nestled in the northeast sector of the city, the Aida Plaza could not be a better deal to find affordable and kind service. They screen guests to keep you safe, and hold on to your keys, to prevent loss! The beds are comfortable, the rooms spacious enough to allow for rest and relaxation, with lots of room for clothing and what not. The facilities are separate from the room, but it wasn’t an issue. Bring a robe and shower shoes! The area around offered good shopping, and was not far from bus stations and right on top of a BART line, so you can get around easily. Staff was friendly, non judgmental, and helpful. It has the vibe of a young deniro movie.

Great Location but Could Have been Cleaner”
I stayed at Aida Plaza Hotel in San Francisco. First of all, the price is pretty reasonable for such an expensive area in San Francisco. Also the location is just great. Located in Market street, it's easy to shopping malls and public transit stations. One Con of it is that the bed blankets and sheets are not very clean, and the smell of the room was not very good. But I guess it's easy to improve. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

An economical hotel with character and friendly staff”
Was here for a couple of days and really enjoyed my stay. My room type was 'Double with Private Bathroom'. This hotel isn't the ritz and nor is it trying to be. Considering the good location, price point (I couldn't find anything comparable with a private bathroom for the dates and location) - I thought this hotel was excellent value. I also found that the "dated" furniture and decor really added to the historical feel of the hotel. The Chandeliers, Old Juke Boxes and Bedside tables with built-in radios were verging on kitsch. My room was clean and recently 'renovated' - the carpet and bathroom floors didn't seem more that a couple of years old. Breakfast was a humble but friendly offering of donuts and coffee. Again, more than one might have expected from a modest hotel (donuts were really tasty and fresh). The bad: there is a high concentration of socially disadvantaged people evident on the sidewalks outside. This is a common theme for San Francisco, but felt particularly concentrated around the area. People were asking for money and some shouted abuse (usually directed at themselves). Keep your eyes on the ground and continue walking onwards. For the hotel itself - the televisions seemed pointless. Dated and although technically functional - they didn't seem capable of receiving any watchable stations. Might as well get ride of them.

Charming and historical hotel experience”
My partner and I stayed here for nearly a week and we had an excellent experience. We're the type of travelers who just need a place to stay to sleep at night so it's really an advantage that this hotel is centrally located in the financial district which makes it very near to shopping, pharmacy, restaurants and the Civic Center BART station. The hotel serves unlimited brewed coffee and donuts. What we loved about our stay is the historical experience - going back in time while walking at the hallway, riding the "jumpy" and classic elevator, and sleeping in our room which was very quiet on the 4th floor. The bathrooms and showered are all shared but we had no horrible experience with using it or getting in line just to use it. It is true that a lot of homeless people are concentrated a few establishments away from the hotel. They are generally harmless and you should just leave them alone. They are humans too, like us. We will pick Aida Hotel again should we be back in SFO!

Well spent money”
I came to San Francisco with four companions. First of, the man who helped us check in was super nice and upgraded us from shared bathroom to private for no additional fee. The room wasn't too big but very nice interior and comfortable beds and the bathroom was nice as well. Also the hotel was well located for shopping, and the transport to "Pier 39" and "Fishermans Wharf" was just across the street. Only bad was that there were a lot of homeless around, which was a little intimidating later on the evening. Overall a good stay.

Worth for money. Don’t expect 5 star”
I would say it’s a rather worth for money stay in Aida plaza hotel. Although I have read many review online regarding the safety concern. But it was not as worst. Let’s face the fact, San Francisco is a city with distinct difference between the rich and poor. Thus the street beggars and homeless people u see on street. My two cents, just keep your belonging safe and always keep an eye for ur surrounding especially when you are near the homeless people area. And be back by the hotel no later than 8-9pm. Because once the clock strikes 8, that’s when all the homeless people started wondering along the street. Just be safe and walk fast back to the hotel. Other than the safety issue, I’m fine with the room. It’s nothing much. Not big and just okay for me. And the receptionist is okay for me too. Overall I would say it’s located at a strategic place in the heart of SFO and you can conveniently take trains (BART) to the airport too because the station is just few walks away from the hotel.

Great Manager!”
We arrived really early after an overnight bus and the Manager was kind enough to let us check in early so we could shower and even offered us the basic breakfast and coffee which was lovely. This place is charmingly outdated but for the price and location it was great. Public transport to and from the airport is easy from just outside. Good location in San Francisco and for those who mention the homeless population in reviews that is everywhere in San Francisco. We felt safe and secure here. The manager was great and has a wicked sense of humor. I would definitely stay here again.

Cheap hotel in heart of San Francisco.”
have been to san francisco. i went there alone and searched for hotel in good location. i did not mind much about amenities since i spent most of my time there shopping and sighseeing, not in hotel. aida hotel is placed on market street, near civil center bart. it takes just 5 min walking to union square and shopping center. receptionists i met, 2 hispanic women, were very kind and helpful. but you have to leave a key with hotel before going out, which not safe to keep your variables in hotel. in conclusion, this is a good hotel if you are looking for a short stay in a convenient location and safe budget. for me, my 8-hour experience in this hotel was ok. but if i had to spend more than 1 night in san francisco, i would rather choose others.

3 days in San Francisco.”
Excellent location. A lot of homeless people in this area but they are not bad. I felt safe in the hotel and around it. The staff is amazing. They are very friendly and helpful. Every morning we had donut for breakfast. Room was clean. I felt like my grandmother home. Good atmosphere. The WiFi isn’t very fast but it’s free. If I come back in San Francisco, I would like to stay in the same place.

Does it for you”
Elsa was a very helpful lady. The rest of the staff were excellent as well. It's not the Ritz. It's not a five-star hotel. It does what you need a hotel to be: a place for sleeping when you're not out exploring the city. This is perfect for couples or solo travelers who'll always be on the go. The donuts and coffee are not bad at all for breakfast. They're enough to save you some money for going about. It's a short walk from the Orpheum (Les Miserables was showing when I went), from the Civic Center, from the Westfield and Metreon malls, from the San Francisco Visitor Center, and the cable car terminal at the corner of Powell and Market. The BART is almost right there, too, making it a quick travel from the airport. I enjoyed my stay.

Little gem!”
This place was great!! Across from City Hall and walking distance to everything! Staff were helpful, friendly, kind and funny. Building is vintage, but it's maintained well. Our room was very clean and shared bathrooms/showers were well maintained also. Both were easily and rapidly accessible. Hotel does not offer parking; however, there are a few options around the block. We ended up parking on Mission St between 6th and 7th right by the Courthouse $30 overnight. Aida H offers coffee and tea all day and they have donuts in the morning from 7am to 9am. Thank you Aida staff, you made our stay enjoyable!!

Aida Hotel- in the middle of everything”
Aida Plaza hotel is positioned less than a block from Civic center train, Bus Line 6 and 19 (?) and the F Tram, making it easy to get around. This can be a blessing when trying to escape the assorted people that congregate in this part of the city. The hotel itself is comfortable, not fancy. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and I was given a room with ensuite for no extra cost, which was great. Internet access was rather irritating, even in the lobby the connection was patchy. Breakfast is nothing to get excited about, it is only donuts. All in all, it is a decent place for the price, the stories you may be able to tell about the surrounding areas are either hilarious, or frightening, depending on how you see the world.

a bargain for san francisco”
For me, my bottom line is Clean sheets;quiet room;lock on the door; acess to hot waater. Aida gave all 4. It is not The ritz. Hpowever more Ritz like hotelsmin SFO charge 3 times as much. Considering its SFO, and considering SFO hotel prices, Aida Plaza is an acceptable bargain. Just dont get your hopes up, as my Nana used to say.

If you needed a place to stay that was affordable”
I had a budget to go to San Francisco which apparently was rather difficult as SF is quite expensive. If you're going to spend the majority of your days outside of the hotel, like during conferences, I would recommend Aida Plaza because it is not that comfortable and there are not many amenities. However, wifi is free and that's awesome.

Great value for money”
If you can handle the grittiness of the area the Aida Hotel San Francisco provides great value for money. three really fun packed days. San Francisco is so much fun I didn't spend that much time at my hotel. The hotel is so perfectly situated you couldn't ask for a better location - one block to union square, two blocks to central SF, four blocks to the SF MOMA. Great food close by. The hotel itself is 1920s art deco albeit in a decrepit state. Don't kid yourself this place is falling apart and isn't that clean. Having said that - the toilets and shower were always free and always clean. My room wasn't definitely no frills - bring your own sheets!

acceptable standard”
located along market st which is a little complicated especially during night times when you see many homeless people around. but the hotel supercedes by its location. the price is great too. for a budget traveler, aida cant be of any wrong. cleanliness is acceptable, though everything is dated in the room. the toilet looks newer than other room facilities.
