Boutique luxury in Franschhoek”

My wife and I were passing through Franschhoek for a night (Sat 21 May 2016) and decided to spend it at Akademie Street. We arrived late in the afternoon and were met by the very charming, efficient and business-like Declan with the Irish accent to match! Lovely to stay at a place where the little extras are included in the deal i.e. wine, whiskey, port etc in the lounge, a half bottle of SA Sparkling wine (MCC) in the mini bar plus shorts of whiskey, gin, amarula as well as snacks and an Illy pod coffee machine. We had a king-size bed with crisp, clean linen which was firm and comfy. Breakfast on Sunday morning was served in our private Solarium. We opted for the "cold" breakfast only which included fresh fruits, yoghurt, home made muesli, stewed fruit plus fresh toast and jam. A strong bodum of fresh coffee also hit the mark. In summary, it's a great place to stay if you are visiting the wine farms and other gastronomic delights in the area and we will certainly be back...but we would prefer to stay for 2 nights at least next time.

Look no Further...Didn't Want to Leave”

After extensive research into accommodation in the area I "settled" on Akademie Street Boutique Hotel (ASBH). Travelling to S.A. on our honeymoon, having spent 10 days in the Kruger we wanted relaxation and romance!!! I made 2 mistakes: 1. I was not "settling". ASBH is undoubtedly the most fabulous accommodation we have ever been lucky enough to treat ourselves to. I wouldn't change a single detail (which is very unlike me) and my goodness what detail. Exquisitely decorated, the comfortable opulence a delight to the eye. The team at ASBH were a beautiful mix of generous , fun, respectful and informed, welcoming each guest with open arms and a warm smile, cleverly moulding their attuned hosting skills to the requirements of each guest. 2. We didn't stay long enough. I made the mistake of thinking 2 nights sufficient - incorrect. There is so much to enjoy here, 4 nights the minimum. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough - essentially look no further. It is a must!!

Fabulous Boutique hotel in great location”

This is a stunning hotel, so many things to love about it. Rooms are beautiful, spacious and the outdoor space of each room is lovely. The breakfasts are great, and the complimentary pre dinner drinks go down a treat. Several different areas around the hotel where you can sit and relax, from the gorgeous sitting room to the outdoor fireplace or of course by the main pool area (that’s if you get bored of your own pool!) . But the best thing about the Akademie is the wonderful personal touch that Declan brings to the hotel. He knows every guest by name and always takes the time to chat. We also happened to meet the owner Paul who was very friendly and happy to sit and chat and tell us the background of the hotel and how he came to own it. Gutted to leave after 3 nights stay, will definitely stay again if we return to Franschhoek.

Franschhoek delight”

Sadly had only one night stay in this fabulous boutique hotel. The owner Paul and his head Honcho Declan greeted us warmly and all the staff were attentive and went out of their way to help. Even to the extent of arranging some urgent laundry and running us down to the restaurant we had booked as it was looking to rain. The pre dinner drinks accompanied by Nicole on piano and a roaring fire in Orangery was very special. Will definitely return to allow us more time to soak up the whole indulgent experience provided at Akademie street. Deserves all it’s plaudits. One v minor issue brighter lighting in downstairs room in main house would be preferred. P & S H

Better than excellent ”

This was our first visit to Franschhoek & what made the journey from the UK worthwhile was staying at the Akedemie Street Boutique Hotel. Declan & his team didn’t need a second chance to make a first impression it was obvious from the moment we arrived that the service facilities and everything else were second to none. Our only issue was self inflicted, we had only booked for two nights! Highly recommended John & Christine

Akademie Street Boutique Hotel will blow you away!”

Privacy, attention to detail, food

I travel a lot with work and have been lucky enough to stay in some pretty amazing hotels but Akademie Street is in a league of it's own. Not only is the location perfect for fine dining and wine tasting but the hotel itself is perfection. You are given total privacy and every little detail has been taken care of including some you wouldn't even think of yourself! The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly and know the balance of being chatty without being over bearing. We had a tour of the different rooms and each one is fantastic. We stayed in Vreugde and were delighted with the cosy cottage to the point we didn't really want to go anywhere but our own plunge pool/garden! Cannot recommend this place enough - it is the best small hotel in the world for very, very good reasons! Thakn you to the whole team for making our honeymoon so memorable.

PERFECTION from start to end!”

My husband and I stayed at Akademie for 3 nights for our mini moon after a busy wedding week and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect place, we fell in love with it! On arrival, we were welcomed by Declan who delivered the best arrival we have ever received. He showed us around the beautiful property, explained everything we needed to know in detail and took us to our cottage. It was incredible - the attention to detail is outstanding. We stayed in Oortuiging, the size of the cottage, bed, bathroom, heating, AC, free laundry service, restocked mini bar, quality of linen, towels and robes - it was pure luxury and outstanding! We were so comfortable and couldn't think of anything that wasn't already there. There's a cocktail gathering from 6pm to 8pm which unfortunately we didn't take part in but nice to know it is available. It's really easy to come and go and have your own space but there is always some available if you need anything. The breakfast was outstanding! Smoothies, coffee, fruit, muesli, yoghurt etc of a very high quality and then a broad choice of delicious cooked brekkies. One of the main selling points before booking was the location. We loved that you were remote in a quiet street but two blocks away from the Franschoek main street and all it's culinary delight! If you plan on visiting make sure you book your restaurants beforehand as they do book up very quickly. We had the best stay at Akademie and will without a doubt be back - it was truly a little piece of relaxation heaven!

Probably the best hotel we have EVER stayed in!”

We stayed at Akademie for two nights during our honeymoon in South Africa. Wow - where to start? This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, certainly one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Rooms are actually vast suites which are beautifully decorated down to the finest detail! We were lucky enough to have both the hot tub and swimming pool to ourselves during our stay - though it was certainly more hot tub weather! Our favourite part of our stay was the 'drinks evenings' that were hosted every night with complimentary drinks and a pianist! These took place in the beautiful orangery - one of the most beautiful spaces we have ever seen. The breakfasts were exquisite and we were thoroughly full after them! Our host Declan was welcoming and informative from the start. If you are looking for a luxury stay in Franchshoek we would highly recommend this hotel!

From it's fabulous location close to all the amenities of Franschhoek, to the beautiful layout and stunning interior details, to the friendly and warmth of the amazing owners Declan and Paul, all the staff, and the fantastic pianist during cocktail hour, Nicole, all made for an incredible stay during our trip to South Africa. I would have to say this is the best boutique hotel I have had the pleasure of staying at. Each room is individual and equipped with everything you will surely require during your stay even down to the local mobile phone to use. The communal areas are quiet and inviting especially with the free cocktails and wine before you leave for your evening meal and the complementary nightcap on your return. The breakfast is amazing with everything you could wish for from the Fresh fruit platter and homemade granola to all combinations of cooked breakfast and of course champagne. The staff are very friendly and with all the help you need from Declan (what a character by the way)and Meena we had a great stay and would love to return in the near future.

Superb boutique hotel. Also the fact that everything is included is like magic - no money changing hands and zero paperwork. I mean zero. Rooms are great. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble and helpful advice as to what to do and where to go

Most enjoyable, as it is only bed and breakfast then did not eat other meals, probably just as well as the breakfasts were very large and very good. Just a short stroll from the hotel to the main street of town for evening meals at a wide selection of possible restaurants.

Great boutique hotel right in the center of the ad”

Vibe. Location. Uniqueness

My sister and I really enjoyed our quite and personal boutique villa. The location was fabulous for the foodie town!and close the many vineyards! The service was exceptional and the food/breakfast was delicious. They did eveything they could to accomadate us and many things were complimentary! I would recommended staying here!
