Big and spacious place to park my rental car”
I stayed here for the convenience of parking my rental car. It is very near to the blue temple. The staffs are nice and friendly. There's a pool table free for you to play. Breakfast is simple. Shared bathroom is just.... hmmm.... Interesting big gecko at night.

It was a bit cold during the night but otherwise a nice, affordable option. There’s a lot lizards hanging around.

A serene stay!”
Surrounded by nature but not very far from centre. A nice evening to spend beside the river under bridge! Sound of traffic on road was bearable! Nice and helpful staff!

Good”
It is fine just for a night or two. Considering the location , you have to be aware of some company - like lizards, tiny ants, mosquitos and cockroaches. Internet in our room was very weak.

it should be cheaper for this standard”
Our room was very noisy as this accommodation is near a busy road, so we switched rooms. It is a shame, as this place has a great potential, however management obviously does not know (or care) how to improve this place. The ceiling was leaking, there were stains all over the walls, the room and bathroom were not cleaned even once when we were there for almost a week. on the plus side there is a pool table, so in the evening you can play. Over all - extremely disappointing. The place feels abandoned and staff does not seem to care about it. Really sad.

Unclean”
No soap or toilet paper. Far walk from the city. The shared bathrooms didn’t seem to ever be cleaned during our stay. The room was spacious though. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the staff was nice but it’s a weird spot under a bridge. Okay if you want to live like a bridge troll for a couple nights.

Bed was terrible. Room was dim and dull. ”
Bed was unusable, massive dent in one side hard as wood so you slipped in to the whole when sleeping and ruin your back. The fan was loud and the roof just felt as if it was forgotten. Blanket was filthy. Sheet was clean. Showers are cold. I wouldn't recommend, didn't sleep at all in the 4 days and really far walk to any food or somewhere to buy water.

Basic but beautiful ”
No frills no thrills, spacious room with large bamboo bed, bamboo furniture but basic accommodation. Reception not operating all the time, breakfaSt very minimum but ok, rural hotel portraiting Akha people village from the mountains, but far from city centre. Sufficient for 1 or 2 nights, interesting for the scenery of green around. A large Hut in the outskirts of Chiang Rai

Cold and VERY humid room. A bit far from the center, and river means mosquitoes.

Lovely Highland Trip Furnished”
Loved everything. Staff very helpful. Hotel is owned and managed by the Akha hilltribe; and tried to use natural materials to build and furnish the room; let us use the bikes to explore town. Helped to arrange a travel tour; and transportation. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

sweet staff and a peaceful setting”
This place was very quiet and peaceful. My room was beautiful and had a lovely balcony which you could sit out on. I asked for one a bit further away from reception, which is also further away from the big main road, so I didn't get that much traffic noise, and the view of the road was mostly blocked by trees, if I looked towards it. But my balcony view mainly was of a beautiful jungle-y scene. It felt very nice to sit out there in the evening with a book. I stayed in low season and it felt like I could have been the only guest! I'm not sure if it was for this reason that the place didn't serve food? Which is really a massive drawback considering that it is really far out of the centre. You can walk in in maybe 30 minutes, and there was a little market maybe 15 or so minutes walk, where you can buy some nice local street food. The girl working on reception was really sweet and helpful. The main issue for me, apart from the distance being a bit far out of town (although it is really close to a great coffee house - akha coffee? maybe? amazing coffee there! and a lovely owner), was that the room was damp. I think this is maybe an issue with the climate and rainy season here, so maybe it is the same everywhere? But it meant that the room smelled of damp a bit, and that wasn't great. One last positive is the guesthouse also organise free pickup to go to their mountain village (hill tribe) place where you can stay, and it's super peaceful and beautiful there. Very basic, though - be warned!

Lovely place with friendly staff”
Lovely staff serves you on your wishes - if you do not want the standard breakfast - toast and eggs - just ask and you will be served - otherwise every day eggs and toast ..... Location is good, not to far from center. we stayed even some days longer - at more intresting prices Agodo could offer .... For sitting outside be aware of the mosquitos. We discovered from there the all area with a rented motorbike.

Nice Staff, Comfortable Room”
Staffs are quite nice. Their location is far from city centre. But if you book this hotel, I guess you won't care about this, as it is in my expectation: quiet and just next to the river. The room is clean and comfortable for solo traveler. It will be better if they offer hot shower also. The overall impression is positive though it is a bit expensive compared to other guesthouse near centre.

Okay place near the river”
It's a little outside the main hot spot of the city, but if you like walking it's fine because it's only like a 20 minute walk and theyre by the river.

Chiang Rai.....Great!!! Akha Riverhouse....NOT!!!”
I had stayed Akha Riverhouse on two previous occasions, and happily booked here again. On arrival, we discovered the reception and restaurant area was being re-roofed [OK....I understand that thatch does not last forever, and this would be an interesting practical demonstration of this craft, as indeed it was.] The problem was, what appeared to be a working bee from the Hill-tribe Village had taken over the entire entrance and carpark, littering the place with discarded old roof, and the bamboo poles and thatch panels of the new. Our access to reception, carpark and our room was entirely blocked; no provision had been made for the on-going operation of the hotel. We could not find a receptionist for 5 minutes, and we had to carry our own bags over construction materials. Once in our room we were greeted with a stale damp odour as if the room had not been ventilated for some time. We also discovered an ashtray on the beside table full of cigarette buts. [I put the ashtray on the table outside our room where it remained unattended-to for the duration of our 3-day stay] Cleanliness of the room and especially the bathroom was very poor compared with my previous visits; bathroom linen was very worn and poorly maintained.....well passed the use-by date. There is no servicing of the rooms at Akha Riverhouse. Actually we saw little evidence of management or operational staff anywhere [perhaps they were all building the roof] Breakfast, offered outside because the restaurant had no roof, was served on tables that had not been wiped down from the night before. Mistakenly optimistic and somewhat magnanimous, we did try the Riverside Restaurant for dinner....I love Thai food....but not at Akha Riverhouse!!!
