Funky place with a great staff. ”
We stayed here one night as we got to Koh Samui a day early and our other guesthouse that we had already booked into was full. We stayed at the top. Stairs to the penthouse were very steep so don't go if you have a mobility issue. The room at the top was spacious and quite quiet considering it was on the main Chaweng beach road. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were right across the street from Chaweng beach. It was very inexpensive. If you are looking for a funky place with lots of character and a low price this place is great. If you want to spend a little more it is probably a good idea to try and get a place right on the beach if that is important to you.
A nice guest house closed to major attractions”
The guest house is located in the southern beach road of Chaweng Beach. Upon check-in, they will transfer you to Akwa 2 by tuk tuk which is just a few blocks away from the guest house. Akwa 2 is a nice quest house with clean and large rooms and close to the nightlife and restaurants. Overall, the guest house is value for money and is highly recommended to all.
very friendly and unique rooms”
i only stayed one night but the room was comfortable and clean! the bar is a 1 minute walk from the rooms but the staff are very friendly and helpful, organising my trip to kho phangan the next day(even though it was 10pm when i arrived-this was no problem). the food is also of good quality!
I got a very good deal here in agoda and was really impressed everything i stay here. This is my 3rd visit at this guest house and will continue as the staff are so nice here. Every time i'm on solo travelling and stay here i never feel lonely. There're small restaurant and bar downstairs where you can relex and eat. There're books for you to read and DVD to borrow as well. Last time i stayed here they upgrade to penthouse for me and this time I got another upgrade to delux room which is super cool and reasonable price.
cutie comfy lovely hotel”
I have booked a room just a day before on the internet because it was on sale and when i check in the staff just upgrade my room to one of the best "pen house" room ever! The room are all decorated in micky mouse wall and very cute furniture. They have everything from mini bar free of charge to TV with cable and DVD player where you have sleeted movies to watch. I really enjoy the bubble baht tub and huge balcony. As for the pool we have to use another hotels which i think it's the same owner. it's quite small but you can also see the view of the beach since it's just right next to it. the staff was really nice and i couldn't say one bad thing about this place!
cool place and good value”
I stayed in standard room and then upgraded to a superior (worth the extra). The place is the best value around (see pros + tea and coffee in superior room, + dvd's, + drinking water, clean and good bed). I searched around and could get another room a bit better and cheaper but not as good a atmosphere and would have lost access to Seascape resort, so I stayed a Akwa.
Friendly staff, nice location”
stayed for a few days after the new year. the staff here are very friendly and will sit and have a convo with you. rooms are unique and it has style which is a nice change. they have a variety of movies and books for you to borrow for free which is a bonus. the bad parts of this hotel were that the internet was very slow and wouldnt work sometimes. The air con unit in the room also leaked and created a puddle on the floor and the stairs are very steep and akward, an accident waiting to happen. enjoyd my stay and would go again.
Great Location but small room”
the room is clean and the decoration is nice, near to the famous beach with only one minute walking distance. but the aircondition not cold and the hotel only provide one bottle mineral water for 3 nights stay, it suppose one bottle per day.
Loved Akwa Guest House.”
I stayed in Penthouse which was a little dearer but well worth the extra.(Was also very large.) Great deck out the front. Congrats to Tim (the Aussie owner who I didn't meet) but seems to know all necessary things to make you feel comfortable.) Things like some books in room, DVD library on hall walls in case you fancy a movie, would definitely stay there again.
Akwa - Koh Samui”
Price was decent, the room was small and the bed was small but was ok for a couple of days. The toilet was broken and dirty when we got there but the staff were very helpful. The akwa restaurant has very nice food, really good brekky but is a little pricey. They do a list of cheap meals but theyre entree size. It's really good though if you feel like a couple of different meals you can have a small serve of each! Accommodation is a bit pricier in Koh samui so for the price and location not bad
Bed Bugs! ”
It was a terrible experience. I was here about 1 year ago , and it seems to be clean for a budget hotel. But thing was miserable after a year , with disgustinh smell at the staircase , suspected thrown out smell which was not cleaned. And the air-cond in the room is not functioning and, most terrible was the bed bugs. My whole body was in red spot the next day and we're scartching for the whole night there.
I have great holiday with themthkful”
So clean ,nice room, lovely with mickey style and then u wanna safe Choose themisvery well ,reception so kindly and fun,Near beach u can walk in the ways opposite only 3minute ,have car for rent nearly nightlife andvrest also
I personally thought this place was great for the value. This is a guesthouse and not a hotel. It is more expensive than a hostel but cheaper than a hotel. You basically get what you paid for. You can't expect to pay these prices and find hotel like accommodations with this location... I booked a standard room and had a chance to stay there for 3 nights and even though the weather wasn't great, the owners were very welcoming and try their best to help you. Obviously there are circumstances with which they are unable to help you with which is understandable. The owners treated me as if I part of their family and by the end of my stay I really did feel like I was part of the AKWA family (thanks for the seafood dinner guys). I thought the rooms were fine and was comfortable enough for me to sleep in. It was clean and the bed was comfortable which is enough for me when staying at a guesthouse. Even though there are two buildings, they are not very far apart. It is only about a 5 minute walk in between the two buildings and if you don't want to walk, they offer a motorcycle shuttle service. They also have a bar/restaurant where you get 15% off if you are a guest. They have both Thai food and western food and is the only place I have found yet in Thailand that has sangria. The location of the guesthouse is also great, very close to the beach (maybe a 2 minute walk). You can also book tours through the guesthouse which is convenient. I booked a 4 hour tour around the island and it was worth the price. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Samui. Perhaps not everyone had the experience I did but you really have to come to Thailand with an open mind.
Less then expected”
The food and coffee are good. The food portions are a bit small. I had the penthouse room booked, and expected a big nice room, but the balcony counts to the roomsize, but you can't use the balcony during the day - no shadow. The bed is ok. The room get very hot during day - goid they have two air con and a fan inside. The hotel in general is ok, but already a bit old. Internet wasn't working well in my room. One day no room cleaning. The stairs to the rooms are really very steep. Maybe the normal rooms are good value for money, but not the penthouse. I wouldn't book again.
Nice and cozy place ”
We really liked our stay at Akwa Guesthouse. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food they offered was really good! The atmosphere was very friendly. The air con room was a bit old but clean and had a funny comic style design. Unfortunately there were very many mosquitos inside the room and we were very happy that we had brought a mosquito-net. Would stay there again.
Comfy and savvy”
Overall, it was very nice here. Room are complete with all the necessary thing, freezer, jug kettle, air conditioning. It just that unfortunately for us, the wifi is not working quite fine. But, nice location. U can walk to the more busiest spot on chaweng, which is not very far away.. Or i suggest u rent a motorbike there.. The rent place is just beside akwa. Akwa rules! Thanks Aizat, from Malaysia
Great access to the beach”
Akwa has such a playful and interesting desighn. Its a budget hotel, but is close to the beach and we can use the hotel swimming pool across the hotel. I had a gd time running on the beach and had breakfast at a hotel nearby by the beach. It's good value.
nice and big room, great location, ok value/price”
Room was realy big (we had a delux room) and clean with comfy bed, sef and fridge. Bathroom was big with hot water. They celaned every day and supply us with free botlle of water. Location is good, just acros the road to beach. On the street are also restaurants and shops, center of night life is in walking distance. Staff were nice, check in/out were fast. Would recommend.
Value for money.”
Had a lovely stay at Akwa Guesthouse, I was given the rooms 10mi ute walk from the restaurant, to the new building, this was a lovely big room, off the main road. Good location easy access to beach, shops, bars and restaurants. The mattress was not very comfortable, as dipped badly and springs sticking in you when you moved, asked to change beds after little sleep, this was not a problem, the staff dealt with it efficiently and promptly, which made the stay even nicer. Staff friendly and accommodating.
I booked 2 nights in the guest house in a delux room. The rooms were brilliantly decorated really funky. The hotelwas 2 mins from the beach, the staff were really friendly. A feature i really appreciated times when it rained was the DVD library just outside the room and the tv had a dvd player, overall great clean comfy guest house i would reccomend.
