    Acceptable
We arrived at 930 to find that our rooms were given out to other people . We booked two rooms but got one. We were given room with a double bed. So my friend slept on the floor on a mattress. Furniture very old and painted paint white. No fridge, hair dryer, tea,, coffee.m Toilet was stained, shower head did not work properly, taps covered with lime. Bed sheets were ckeaned and mattress was soft, towels were ckean. Reception blamed ago da for the debacle. Said he was deleting them.

    A verry poorly managed 'motel'
    the location and the views
We stayed at Al Hoota Rest House for one night after visiting the snake canyon. It is more like a poorly managed motel. We were welcomed by a very unfriendly receptionist who was watching some tv show under the counter she we arrived. The room and bathroom were good for Omani standards but very poor for European standards. No shower curtain and only one towel was provided even though we were two people. The room had a gigantic and very loud aircon but no heater - we asked the reception if they had a spare heater and we were given a very old heater which looked more like a toaster - We ended up switching it off during the night because we were afraid that it would burn. We went to their restaurant to check the menu but everything was Indian and fry up related. In the end, we went for dinner at another hotel up the road and we were gutted to have to return to our creapy and cold room. We wouldn't recommend you staying here but if you do, make sure you avoid their restaurant.

    Good idea gone bad!
The location, fanbulous views, unfortunatly, difficult to think about something else positive...
This hotel should not be listed on any website anymore. Our stay was a complete chock! The chalet booked was in a very bad condition for lack of maintenance! Cracks in walls, patches of mould, very old basic furniture that looked dirty and were broken for some of them. Only the big bed was alright. The sink in the shower room was leaking, making water raising from the floor! There was only one towel! There was no heating in the room and it was freezing! It was too cold to relaxe and have a shower. Although the staff seemed to be willing to help, we had to fight to get some more blankets and some heaters! And Fight again not to pay an extra fee for them! If the hotel had not already taken the £100 they had charged us for the night, we would have left straight away. From the say of the staff the owner of the place does not care about the state of his hotel, he does not want to hear the customers' complaints.... He certainly does not want to spend a penny on it! Needless to say this hotel is well overpriced and overrated and needs a complete refurbishment!

    Not like it once was...
Location (cool), view, access to hiking (Wadi bani Auf)
It is not the same place as it was in the early years. As a resident I've been coming here since they opened in 2011?. Unfortunately it has changed hands recently and has not been upgraded. The grounds are continuing to fall apart with cement blocks and wood strewn around behind the buildings. Walls are decrepit; grounds are unkempt. They will do their best, but between language problems and cultural misunderstandings it can be hard to get what you need while there. The food is very basic. Powdered coffee and tea from a heated thermos. Most unfortunately no record of previous visits or repeat customers was left behind by the previous owners. And, breakfast and dinner were included in the room rate for all guests. This is no longer the case. Additionally, booking with Agoda means the hotel will get notice that you're coming, right? Not in our case. The Internet was down for the week previous and apparently is not an uncommon occurrence. The Chalets were booked out by direct bookings leaving us with (fortunately) a smaller room. The beds are fine, but they did not give us top sheets; instead we were to have the common quilts direct on top. We had to request them. Also extra quilts are needed during winter, which they don't seem to understand should already be in the room. Lastly, even though couples are usually renting a chalet or room, on both nights and in both rooms they supplied one towel only. Again we had to ask. The upside to the Al Hoota Rest House is the isolated quiet location, but that's about all that's left. The 'hotel' is far from 3 star, as we know it, and based the fact it is only 4 years old, does not have much life left unless someone sinks a considerable amount of money into to maintenance and upgrading; not just to minimum standards but beyond if they are to compete with the 'resort up the hill' or down in Misfat al Abreyyan or Al Hamra, both of which are charming places to spend a night.

hotel in the middle of nowhere
Dinner was good. Nice and friendly cat!
It's pretty bad place. Rooms are bare and unloved. Unbelievly they don't put sheets under the blanket. Everything is quite new but already falling apart. Cold. Air enters from everywhere in the room as doors and windows are not sealed. There should be hiking trails nearby but nobody knows where. The restaurant hall is depressing.no wifi. No light in the bathroom of the first room we had...

Lovely location, food not so good
    Location, climate, outdoor dining huts
Very nice location and very friendly staff. Chalets were very spacious and clean. Food can be improved a lot... Burgers were not edible. Best thing on the menu was the set menu. I highly recommend to book with meals included. For the price paid, breakfast should have been included... The kids loved the place.

    Marvelous place
    location, room, staff
Very beautiful location!! Nice, silent, clean rooms and very kind and helpful staff. The hotel is far from everything but for us it was great, because the view from the hotel is incredibly and it is very quiet to sleep. We liked it a lot!
