This boutique resort was designed to reflect the charm of a traditional Balinese village. Recently remodeled, the AlamKulKul Boutique Resort is still a symbol of Bali’s unique culture with its thatched roof villas and decor consisting of antique furniture and local handicrafts all set amidst a series of flower gardens and tranquil pools. The hotel itself offers a wide range of international cuisines at the Bunga Kelapa restaurant, and the Jamu Traditional Spa has a variety of treatments for guests who like to pamper themselves. The AlamKulKul Boutique Resort is conveniently located across from the Kuta Beach and is very close to local dining and shopping hotspots. Great value oasis!”
I have stayed at Alam KulKul several years ago on a work trip, and this was my first time returning for a holiday with my partner. Walking the winding paths through the boutique resort, you are enveloped by lush, tropical gardens and charming Balinese statues and ornaments. With two pools to choose from (the first with a pool bar and music, the second in a more secluded garden setting), a restaurant and bar with views of the stunning Kuta sunsets, and a gorgeous traditional Day Spa (with treatments equal to those I've experienced at Premium spas here in Australia - at a MUCH more reasonable price) - AlamKulKul is a very well appointed resort, especially for the price. We opted for one of the standard Alam rooms, these are located at the rear of the resort, around the garden pool (on 2nd and 3rd floors). Rooms are basic but very comfortable. My only comment is that the rooms are quite dark, due to their location amongst the foliage, but you're not in them much. Will be back!
Absolutely fantastic resort”
AlamKulKul is just great resort in typical Balinese style. We booked through Agoda and get great price.Staff is very friendly and help you with anything. We stay in new apartment and it was great, plenty of space, big and comfortable bed, fantastic bathroom.Every day complimentary 2 bottle of water and tea and coffee.Breakfast was great too plenty of choices and fresh fruits and cakes too. Location is great, right in centre of everything, shopping and plenty of restaurants you to chose and eat and drink. Beach is just in front of hotel, cross road and you are on the beach max 20 meters. Beach is nice and clean, ideal for surfing. we also hire scooter which cost about £6 for a day and ride around and see different beaches and monuments and also different part on Bali. Definitely we recommending this hotel and when we are back to Bali and are returning to AlamKulKul, it was just great, fantastic holiday.
Lovely & very clean hotel”
i highly recommend alamkulkul hotel to all travellers & tourist out there if you want to feel secure out of noise & crowded people this is the best place to be. you can maximize your time to relax & meditate due to their outstanding balinese culture, you will notice when first enter the hotel you will feel the warm & good service of the staff. the villa is field of touch of nature, the pool is clean. take note there is no mosquito at all knowing that there's a lot of pond in the hotel. affordable buffet, the food is great! we will go back again in bali this may & definitely stay at alamkulkul hotel by the way the room was spacious, very clean, relaxing as well as the bathroom the best! keep it up alamkulkul!
A beautiful hotel on Legian Beach”
I stayed at the AlamKulKul with my friend for a weekend in November. I really enjoyed staying on Legian Beach because it's much quieter than Kuta but it's still close enough to the action. Plus it's just a short taxi ride to Seminyak. The resort itself is beautiful, great swimming pools and lovely gardens. We stayed in a Deluxe Room with a pool view. In other reviews people mentioned that this hotel needed a lot of maintenance but in my option it has been well looked after. We had no problems and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Central to Everything!”
We stayed at the AlamKulKul for 10 nights in a Quad room and would recommend it. It's right on the beach, with Beachwalk shopping mall to the left and restaurants, street and markets to the right. The hotel is landscaped in a way that allows you an 'escape' from the hustle of Kuta/Legian. Both pools are now open and the kids loved them! However the best part is the staff - the breakfast staff are amazing, remembering your room number and coffee order each morning is that personal touch you don't get in the larger resorts. The grounds keepers always have a smile, as do the cleaners and security. The perfect resort for a family get away - thanks for a great holiday Alam KulKul, we will be back!
Lovely”
We had a lovely stay at Alam Kulkul Boutique Resort. We stayed for nine nights and enjoyed every aspect of the resort. It's quiet and pretty, the staff are so lovely, lovelier than staff at most places I've stayed in Bali. The buffet breakfast had a wonderful selection. And the grounds and pool were lovely. The room was very clean and modern and nicely styled (we stayed in the new alam room) which had a gorgeous view overlooking the garden pool. Wednesday nights they offer free cocktails and Barong Dancing and traditional music which was wonderful and the dinner was traditional BBQ all you can eat which only cost $17AUD. All the staff were very helpful and perfectly located right on Legian Beach. Close to plenty of shopping and only 5mins ($3.50AUD) from Seminyak. We would love to come back again! Only cons were that the pools could have been a little cooler (it was 33 degrees celsius every day and it was like hopping in a bathtub, not refreshing at all, but hopefully an easy fix for them), and the cocktails at the resort were average in comparison to other hotels in the area. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it was just what we were looking for: pretty, clean, in a great location and relaxing.
Friendly staff, lovely gardens and secluded pool”
We had a lovely stay at the AlamKulKul. The location was great, right in the middle between Kuta and Legian and walking distance from most busy areas. The setting of the hotel was great, right opposite the beach, plus the 2 pools were really great as there aren't too many people around so you always get a sun lounge. The only negative is the smell of the rooms, probably due to the air conditioning units and condensation - a little musty. But everything was very clean, great bathrooms, room service was great and everyone really friendly.
Great hotel!”
Our days spent at AlamKulKul were ideal. The place is clean and the staff re so so friendly, they made us feel welcomed from day 1.Breakfast is tasty, the Verandah restaurant has beautiful food too. Not too far from Kuta but far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle with some nice little restaurants to eat local food. We would definitely stay there again if we visit Bali in the future.
A quiet gem in Legian”
The AlamKulKul Boutique Resort offers a quiet haven next to the madness of Kuta. Ideally positioned between Kuta and Seminyak this tastefully decorated resort, with excellent is highly recommended for the traveler with taste and the need for quiet place to stay.
awesome place with great staff”
alamkulkul is a great place to stay for anyone,,the hotel is kept very neat and tidy, the rooms were clean and spacious and the staff were so very friendly and for the price we got it at very very good. the pools were great except for the round one which always seemed to be getting chemicals(chlorinated ) in it but apart from that 95% awesome, will definately be staying there again and will be taking my kids next time too :) and if you turn right when coming out of the hotel and keep walking till the corner then turn right down that street is alot of shopping and some very nice resturants,,sheppy's was very nice :)
Great Place and located close to beach n shops”
This is a great place to stay you are right near the beach and close to shopping. The Restaurant at the front of the resort is one of the best places to watch the day go by and great food and service is excellent.Take some mozzie lotion if you go to Bali as the mozzies are everywhere! We just brought some coils at the local shop and this worked well. The staff are really helpful so just ask if you need anything and they will be happy to help you. Bali is a very unclean country down where it is full of tourist so try and remember this and the smell of sewage is overwhelming at times. Our overall stay was amazing and we really did enjoy our time there, we had the Alam Room at the back of the resort very nice room and happy with the set up. The spa was unreal and good prices offering a great spa experience and well worth the visit. We would gladly recommend the resort for a relaxing place to stay!
HIDEAWAY IN KUTA”
Alam Kulkul is a small boutique resort hidden away from the hustle and bustle of busy Kuta. It is quiet, beautifully landscaped and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Excellent buffet breakfast, beautiful Spa, 2 glistening pools and staff who will go out of the way to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. This resort is in walking distance of markets, many restaurants, bars and directly across the road from Kuta Beach.
Amazing resort in a great location”
We stayed here for our second week of our holiday and it was a pleasant experience the whole time, compared to our first resort which was a let down. We stayed in a villa room beside the main pool, there is another smaller pool to the rear of the property. Both pools are really nice and clean with plenty of lounge chairs. The villa room was so big and comforting, nice big and comfortable bed, Lcd TV with DVD, and an outdoor shower/bath with a big bathroom. Everyday we had a nice little jar of cookies left at our door for us, and also access to the Alam club rooms was beneficial, with free internet, soft drinks, juice and snacks throughout the day. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull and couldnt be faltered. The location was great, right between Kuta and Seminyak, the front road is busy at times but the resort is nice and quite. The road just north had plenty of shops, restaurants, trustworthy money exchange (on the right when walking away from the beach its the first or second store on the road). We got a taxi to Kuta cost was to get there due to the one way raod, the return trip only cost 10,000rp. So everything is easily accessable and will definatly stay again in a Villa room. The only down side i found was the mosquitoes in the late afternoon and night, seem to be throughout the room even with the hotels methods of getting rid of them
Alam Kul Kul ”
My husband and i went to Bali for a week without the kids and decided to go with Alam kulkul because the price was in our range. I was a bit hesitate due to comments people have written, please dont read everything you read as yes there is construction going on both sides of the hotel didnt hear a thing, two minute walk to resturants a Legian and not far from Kuta central. The staff were fantastic. Didnt spend a lot of time at the hotel due to sight seeing but a very relaxing hotel. Restaurants a bit pricy and its a shame but we wanted to experiment other restaurants anyway. The cocktail night was good and the alam kul kul club would of been more benefical if we stayed at the hotel more. Overall the only thing i would stay its not a good hotel for kids as there isnt much to do as it is a quite hotel, i wouldnt been my 3 children there as i would be constantly telling them to be quite other than that i would highly recommend the Alam kul kul and if given the opportunity to go again with out the kids would stay there no probs
Good Deal for a Family of Four”
I wanted a hotel that could accommodate all 4 of us without renting a villa or two small rooms. Alam Kulkul was one of the few with available quad rooms. Our room was spacious and quiet. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed swimming at the two pools. The hotel even gave us 4 vouchers of $20 each for the spa. It was a nice relaxing stay of 8 nights and since the price was affordable, we even left to spend the night at Lembongan Island without leaving the hotel. I liked the area since it was at the border of Legian and Kuta, so it was in a quieter area, but also within walking distance to all the restaurants, surf shops, mini-marts, etc. We rented two scooters to get around Kuta and find places to eat, shop and get massages. My boys, ages 17 and 9, surfed right across the hotel. One of the better surf schools, Surf Pro, was right to the left of the hotel. A new Italian restaurant, Limoncello, just opened on the premises the day we arrived. Good authentic pizzas and real cappuccinos!
perfect location”
We arrived at Alam Kulkul after travelling to another 2 different locations. I really did keep the best accomodation till last. The loction on the edge of kuta/legion was perfect for us being a 10 minute walk either way to shops and markets. The staff could not of been better, helpful and informative in every way with very good knowledge of the english language. We booked a villa which was absolutely beautiful. The most comfortable bed we slept in on our travels around Bali. The bathroom was a plus for us with an outdoor shower over a huge sunken bath. The rooms were very clean and the grounds were beautiful. The breakfasts were great being a blend of western with a traditional Balinese breakfast being on offer which was delicious. It was great to be able to cross the road with the help of the security guards who stopped the traffic to be straight on the beach. We loved the location, quietness (except for the construction next door but did not really intrude)and the sunsets on the beach were terrific. Will definately stay again on our next trip to Bali.
Alamkulkul over-all review”
Stayed at the Alamkulkul in October, 2018 is a pleasant experience. The hotel may be outdated; but clean and has all the basic things that we need. The hotel staffs are quite good and you could feel the sincerity and warmest making you feel at home. They don't make you feel that they are doing a great service for a tip. The breakfast is enough for you to have a good start for the day. Their pools may not be that big; but satisfactory to keep you cool after that hot walk from the beach or shopping. The location is perfect in Kuta where everything is a walking distance.
Excellent location and attentive staff”
We have stayed at Alum Kul Kul for the third time. Each time we are impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, the attentiveness of the staff and the gardens. Across the road is Kuta Beach where you can experience the lively atmosphere, a cold beer in the afternoon and a range of restaurants along Jalan Pantai with the highly recommended Zanzibar about a kilometre north. Just around the corner you can find the legian markets on Jalan Melasti and great aussie bars such as Sheps with good food at a reasonable price.Outside the hotel a 20 - minute walk sees you right in the middle of Kut and Poppies Lane or you can head north through Legian to Seminyak either along the beach, on Jalan Pantai with all of the restaurants or along Jalna Legian with shop after shop. The few blocks between Jalan Legian and Jalan Padma are great for shopping choices with some excellent tailors. At Alum Kul Kul we have only stayed in Alum rooms but during this stay our request for an upstairs room was granted with a view of the pool. We spoke to reception about the musty or sewerage smell in the room and they immediately tried to resolve the issue. On each occasion we have had late evening flights and the hotel has stored our luggage for the entire day and offered us to use the pool facilities for the day and then provided a room for us to have a shower and freshen up before our flight. Inside the hotel complex you would never realise the hustle and bustle of Kuta is on the door step. Reception also let us look inside the lanai rooms and the villas both which were magnificent. Whilst we have never eaten at the hotel you can get packages with breakfast included. The afternoon happy hour is good and the mojitos are the great way to end the day around one of the two pools. We have been travelling to Bali for 25 years and I highly recommend this hotel.
Wonderful resort, great rooms, superb hospitality!”
The rooms were more than just decent, they were actually really comfortable and CLEAN! All of the staff were really helpful and friendly. They were really honest with what you should do and what you should avoid. It's also a very family oriented place, not loud and noisy but just pure bliss. The spa was a little pricey so i suggest you just take a walk around kuta and get a massage around there for half the price. My girlfriend and i had a wonderful experience in AlamKulKul and we are already planning our next trip there.
Great location for shopping and the beach”
We came over to Bali to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with friends and wanted a hotel close enough to shopping , but far enough from the hustle of Kuta before we went to gili trawangan The hotel was clean and the rooms a good size , we only booked the alam rooms which are the cheapest Type ,but we where happy with them ,we did look at the other room types and they looked lovely Air con worked good and the linen was clean , staff always greeted us with a smile The grounds and gardens where lush and green ,this place has a nice Balinese feel to it On our second night we returned to our room to find a lovely cake for our anniversary and a note Which was a a great suprise for us Thank you to all the staff for the lovely wishes we received
